Water polo basics: set offense

I am pretty sure (just saying) that when you numbered the players you did it wrong because one is always on the right side of the pool on offense. I am pretty sure but otherwise this is a perfect diagram to teach people about water polo :D

just thought id point out that the numbers shoukd be the other way....like the 1 position is where the 5 is in the video and then 2 And 4 also would be switched

@mrjeb7 I think he had it right. The way i allways learned it was that 1 and 2 was the strong side for righties and 4 and 5 were strong for lefties or just weekside where you put your better defenders. Thats odd how somewhere along the line there was a split in how people denotate the numbers.

so THAT'S why they got rid of the 7 meter... i played freshman year in 2004 and was confused when i later heard about there no longer being the 7 meter line or green... thanks though :)

When you drive in, wouldn't it help if the hole moves his defender a little over to the opposite side of you. So that you have more space to shoot the ball and less defenders on you.

also during a drive the ball never goes to the 2m player because the defender of the guy doing the drive will steal the ball....the ball goes to number 1 or 5 depending on the player's(who takes the drive) side...

the counting starts from the right not from the left...the pick is wrong ....the guy in the five position stays where he is and takes the shot he doesnt go in front of the goal..

t shot is hitting the ball like a golf tee... putting it up on your left hand and quickly pushing it (non closed fist) with your right (or dominant). ya gotta do it quick but i like it better than a screw shot (s shot?). in a screw shot you just lift up and as the name suggests move your arm in a screw motion to push the ball into the goal.

Besides what brandonfresno posted, You can do the pop shot. That's where you push the ball up into the air with your left hand and bring your right hand down in front of it to pust it in the goal.

It is a good video but I am not pleased how the pick was explained, the wing position should go towards the outer position and shield his player and and the player that followed him with his back, cause in your version I think that it is less possible for the plater to fall for such a play

good vid but it was probably the most boring thing ive ever watched on youtube. thanks for posting though it helped me out, im trying to get better and this gave me an idea of some good strategy. next time add background music or something, i mean i almost fell asleep!
