@Amandamoo73 in addition to each train carriage having shutters the whole train is pressurized to prevent smoke leaking into the train in the HIGHLY UNLIKELY event of a fire..the tunnel has a sprinkler system anyway......cctv cameras... and emergency drill training is carried out constantly.

stupid question but why are you seperated by shutters?isn't that a bit claustophobic?im travelling on it in 15 weeks and im nervous!

@Amandamoo73 Basically its so that in the unlikely event of a fire in one carriage, the fire resistant shutters prevent the fire from spreading down the entire train. Don't worry about claustrophobia either, there's enough space for about 3 cars or one coach in each carriage with plenty of space in between. It's just like being in your car for half an hour except much quieter. Plus you can always get out of your car and walk around so there's absolutely nothing to worry about.

Just a note: The Shuttle is not run by a diesel locomotive but by an Electric One and Only La Shuttle Electric loco. Only the emergency one is diesel.

cool i have been there twise but i dont want to go there anymore because i heard that there were 2 thousand people wating for 8 hours because the train stopped for some reason and i am not trying to scare you but there were witnesses that said there were really loud and strange noises inside the train and it was very dark so even though i dont know you be carefull :)
