I live in cedar rapids and i lived only a few blocks away from the river and the waters filled our basement and got some on our main level and im just thankful for the wonderful people that was there to support everyone
I also live in Cedar Rapids. At the time I was on I ave NW that got flooded. They wanted my mom to get rid of the basement so we decided to relocate and found a flooded out house for sale. We are near completion of the house and we have a yellow to occupy on our house.
remember that train bridge that WAS next to that HUGE parking lot with the colorful little hobo houses (thats what i called em) where the BBQ roundup was? ya that thing is gone.
Instead of making war, Mr Bush can better take care of his own people. I advise him to contact the Dutch gouvernement because Holland is a waterland and we had a lot off waterproblems in the past. There is a solution for all the deasasters with the floods but it will cost money! We have many people who are experts and they are willing to help people all over the world with waterproblems. But I am afraid that the people in the USA have to wait till a caring president will be choosen! (Gigi, Holland)
Wow. The pictures are just haunting, still. Does anybody know what happened to the Saddle and Leather shop in Czech town? It's so near and dear to me. I want to help them, but need to know who to contact.
My name is john and live in kenner,LA a Katrina survior. The video brought back the memories of that awful day in 05.I had 12inches of water in my home in kenner, and lost my boyhood home in New Orleans.I've rebulit. And y'all will get through this.My heart goes out to you.Who does that song?
Watching this vid. brought tears to my eyes. I live in C.R but didn't have damage. I thank God for that. I worked at the DQ pictured for 6 years, and it makes me sick to see it that way. I was baptized and confirmed at the church across the street from it, that too was almost too much to see. Just today I was able to drive up the street of a close friends (who I grew up with) house that was destroyed. It's just so devestating. We WILL pull through this though, my prayers to all affected.
thx for watching and thx for the comment. i have only lived in CR for 6 yrs. but 6yrs gives you plenty of time to fall in love with this city. It is sad not being able to go downtown. even its just to drive through it. it will get better tho.....
Keep up the good work, Iowa you're making the rest of us proud. You guys are handling this with honor and determination to get it done. The magnitude of this flooding trumps Katrina a 100 times, and the outpouring of humanity and dignity -from the heartland- is why America is great and some of her people are a noble and proud people. We're praying for you guys from California. Keep your head up, can't say enough about how you all are handling this of course--- good video.
cedar rapids is my wife's home and we have frends and family there. i can tell from this video that you love CR like we do...thank you, even though it brought tears. our prayers are with you all...
