  • this is so brilliant! it's too bad network shows aren't written and performed as good as this - not even close.

  • Love reading the comments as much as watching the show ...

  • This episode upon the 2nd watching immediately made me run for a can of cold cling peaches in heavy syrup from the refrigerator ...yum

  • i dont know ,ive been to smittys garage and i was pleased with the price, and the service.

  • Where can I find a can of umm humm?

  • LAWLZ

  • Am I the only one who always wondered what in the hell they were eating in all those dinner scenes?

  • @ 6:53...another typical Archie and dingbat interaction... :-)

  • "This can of mmm mmm in heavy syrup." Edith was hilarious.

  • I dented a car just yesterday with a runaway shopping cart. Unfortunately I didn't follow in Edith's footsteps. I jumped in my car and took off.

  • @brajames1 That was you!?! That was MY car!!

  • @drdvs69 lol Sorry

  • @brajames1 That's o.k.. I was just being silly. It wasn't really my car.

  • It's amazing that Alf Garnet was the inspiration for this show.

  • why can't they make comedies like this one nowadays? this was true LOL comedy

  • @areallydisturbedfan, Where can I get all 9 seasons of AITF for $ 35.00 .I always liked the show, and would like to buy them on DVD. Thanks !

  • @62muki Try Amazon.com

  • You are invading the issue. LOL. The issue: Cling peaches.......in heavy syrup.

  • cling peaches.....in heavy syrup

  • loved this show...had mixed feelings sometimes...always reminded me of my grandparents...sigh...

  • Dont ask Edith for explanations, archie should know that by now

  • Edith'd honesty is hilarious!!!!!!!!!!

  • The peaches JUMPED out of the cart!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!

  • "Hmm-hmm-hmm in heavy syrup" LOL!

  • Get outta here!!! No, no, not you, it was a fly!! lmao!!

  • Edith's honesty gets her in so much trouble!

  • Jean Stapleton & Carroll O'Connor are BRILLIANT! "It was a freak accident"!!! LOL!!!

  • this show neva gets old <333

  • Archie's long, silent looks of disbelief done skillfully by Carroll O'Connor were priceless.

  • Meathead is always hunched forward lol

  • "Hell", As lovable as archie was w/ his style of bigotry for that time in america & a staunch pro nixon supporter who were part of the toned dwn republicans of another era, archie would be considerd a flammin libral by todays republican right wing pro faschist tea party numbskulls trying to ruin this country, come to thk of it they'd consider nixon a flammin lib also Ill add uh "MATES" :-D

  • ARCHIE WAS A REAL DUDE

  • $35 for all 9 seasons!

  • Special pricing this week only in celebration of Season 9 being released at last! You can send me an e-mail or PM if you are interested! I have the best offer and the best quality!! I'm a huge fan of the show and I present the episodes in CHRONOLOGICAL order, unlike their official releases!! dan611Logan@yahoo.com and yes I do take PayPal

  • They don't make comedies like this anymore.

  • Edith, Archie, Mike, and Gloria always made me laugh when i was little and they still do even at the age of 19

  • when I watch this show, my cares go away and it brings joy in my life

  • I watch this every night on antenna tv!

  • @rockwithmeallnight me too im 17 before antenna tv i didnt know who archie bunker was

  • Start your story after the cling peaches and get ooooonnnn with it LOL

  • i'm crying i'm laughing so hard.

  • I would have love to see a crossover where Archie Bunker meets Fred Sanford. That would have been a classic.

  • @conkpit lol. Wouldn't that be something! Someone would kill someone. lol Funny though. They are somehow alike but I couldn't say how. You have a thought? Both egotistical and always right for one thing. It would be Archie's bigotry that would be up front. Fred's also. ha. I would like to see Fred's fists come up and him doing the little dance he does. :) Clever thought.

  • @conkpit They did meet once, but Carol O'Connor was playing an old friend on the show that Fred Sanford had after Sandford and Son. I think it was Sandford Arms, though thats not the title Im sure, I am just saying, it was whe he went solo and Lamont was gone. It was a bad show. Just the networks keeping a dinosaur on life support, ten feet from the television tarpits! It would have help the ratings if they would have let him be Archie Bunker on that episode. Malik Jubal

  • @LordIam1 I know what show you're thinking of...it was the Red Foxx show...I remember it(I'm older than you think:). But the networks never did an actual cross-over of the Fred Sanford and Archie Bunker characters.

  • WHy can't I find me a 25 yr old Edith... modern girls are lame

  • @american1476 You want a woman who agrees with you about everything or am I getting you wrong? She is a loving/honest person. In this episode she does the right thing and Archie wants to get away with it. At the time it was aired I was ashambed that a sweet woman like this cared for a turkey like A. It was a man's world then and it was sad that she took his emotional abuse. Too many women like that then. You liked that type of woman? Just asking. Not trying to start a fight or anything. :)

  • @Songsmirth yea bc then I can be just as sweet back women today are such bitches and whores booty dancing and putting ghetto faces sleeping with anything that comes around and just want a career so they can come home and try to gossip about all the stupid women being whores at work

  • Edith was so adorable!

  • "Get o-o-o-n-nn with it." XD

  • 'No, not you, it was a fly!' LMAO!

  • 7 people are meatheads

  • @StevenAteYourDogs Why do you mock people who have their own opinions? It's still America isn't it? I get tired of the comments of people like you whode grade others that don't vote as you do. Well, I guess I'm joining the club making my own negative comment. Seriously, not that I'll change your mind, but why do you want people to give you a thumbs up? Is it so important that people agree with you? If you walked into a garden would you expect all the flowers to be the same color? Be fair.

  • @Songsmirth get used to youtube oldtimer

  • @StevenAteYourDogs I'll never get used to rudeness Steven and if you have, it's sad. Being nice to others shows the kind of person we are. Online or off.

  • it's a great show and always will be

  • Gotta love Archie Bunker.

  • I could never take his temper. My parents watched the show but I had trouble with laughing at a man who blew at everything. Why should I like it? And please don't tell me it's a fake person on tv. That kind of personality is still replusive to me. Always will be. And a man that calls his wife a, "dingbat" isn't any kind of gentleman to me. What would a child think hearing his mother called that? This wasn't a husband/wife friendship. It was a man to a child relationship. She was afraid.

  • @Songsmirth

He called her dingbat as a term of endearment, like 'sweetheart'.

  • @Charmolution If someone called you a dingbat, you would be totally fine with that? Really? How's about airhead? Stupid? Moron? All of it would be fine as long as there was respect and love behind it? Come on. Be honest. There is a line. To others who would have heard him call her this, do you think they would understand his respect for her? I'd like to see a man call a woman that today! My husband wouldn't even think of calling me that. I can't imagine the hurt it would cause.

  • @Songsmirth

    Edith doesn't mind.

  • @Songsmirth Get over yourself. This was very relavent in the 1970s when it aired and the whole point was to show how ridiculous that kind of prejudice really was. If you think Archie had no love for his family, watch the episode where Mike and Gloria moved to California and then watch the 1st episode of "Archie Bunker's Place" where Edith has died. And if this show stil bothers you so much what were you doing looking up AITF clips and watching them on YouTube?

  • @horseangels

    Well said!

  • Not only that, just watch the episode where Archie and Mike are stuck in a room together. After you get the huge amount of character development there, you should have a better understanding of why Archie is the way he is.

  • "It was a freak accident!"

    ROTFLMAO!!!!!!

  • they remind me of my grandparents. she was a dingbat but he loved her! lololol

  • "You are invading the issue."

  • One of my favorites!

  • I love this show and so do my kids

  • "no, no, not you; it was a fly" looool

  • edith looks scared as shit. archie going to put his foot up her ass

  • I love this show. Archie always seemed mad at Edith but deep down inside he loved her and he showed her that in a couple of episodes. Archie ( Carroll O' Conner ) was still handsome. Those blue eyes and silver hair. He was a very good actor and Jean Stapleton makes me laugh in every episode with her innocence. She is such a good hearted person. Poor meat head he can never do anything right. Good memories. Thanks for posting.

  • honestly, this is quite possibly the best written show in tv history, jean stapleton was amazing

  • @ftlshome1 : Of all the nonsense that floods from the t.v. screen, every once in a while something good comes out. Accident? Co-incidence? You can almost mark it by the decade...."Three's Company", "Married With Children", "Third Rock From the Sun", "Office", etc.

  • $197.00 back in those days WAS a chunk of change. My Mom had five of us, Dad, one cat and one dog to feed and I can remember my Dad raising hell about a 200 dollar food bill which used to fill up the trunk and back seat of her car. Nowadays, you spend that and get three or four of those plastic bags.

  • Carrol O' Connor aged better then Rob Reiner, since Rob Reiner is around O' connors age today, he looks like he gained 100 lbs, and is bald like his father

  • @49jubilee O'Connor is only in his late 40s here. Funny Archie and Edith are supposed to be an older couple but these days your late 40s isn't considered old and people don't look age like they used to. We live in such a youth obsessed society now not to mention we live longer...

  • @Gossage54 you sound like an old fuck

  • @Gossage54 ya he's about 49 or 50 He was born in 1924 so this about 1973, 74. That what 50 looked like then today he would be an 88 year old or something

  • @MrLemmy2000 - Carroll O'Connor died on June 21, 2001 at 76 on a heart attack brought on by complication from his diabetes.

  • The ummmm hummmm you told me not to say that. lol

  • Loooove it!! Fond memories.

  • Is she not still alive thought i saw her a couple years ago on TV

  • Edith is a doll. She's my favorite character.

  • I know this is only a tv show, BUT she just came out of the street and sat right down and started touching food,. No cleaning of hands at all. lol

  • @suenelson1024 You need brevity in shows. . the same reason in most shows people walk through a door without knocking...

  • @suenelson1024 are you serious? should we also see when they take a dump or leak? HAHAHA!

  • "It was a freak accident." lol

  • "I heard all that tell me after the cling peaches an get oooooooooon with it! LOL!

  • Never underestimate the power of great writing... Scenes like this are the stuff of genius....

  • "...that's cause you're a meathead!"

  • im black and i loved this show..watched it growing up..fell in love wit it.altho he was racist..in the show..it was a great show.!! i wonder why they dont make stuff like this anymore..without the racism..lol

  • It's a great show, but, it's true...Mike's character could be kind of a weenie...mooching off Archie and Edith and then condescending to Archie all the time...but those were the dynamics of the show. In its time, it was one of a kind by a mile.

  • Love Archieand Edith!

  • haha gotta love edith

  • This is one of the best episodes of All in the Family ever! Every time my family is grocery shopping and we see cling peaches in heavy syrup, we laugh!

  • aaron.......you're right but...........

  • @moc1039210312x Is this some pathetic attempt at humour or are you just a misogynistic halfwit with no audience?

  • @moc1039210312x word..me too..i mean i knw its wrong but i wouldnt have left my information..and she invited him over!!! shes mad..lol

  • "edith, why don''t you just stifle!" LOL

  • Once again people, it is a show, just a show...

  • Couldn't help myself: Hello Viacom! stop transcoding random portions of these things to make it seem like joe-shmoe is uploading it. It would work better if you'd at least put a watermark stamp like TV-Land or whatever in there, though I imagine you're a few steps ahead on that already....

  • bluecollarguy....you're right....this show will be funny 50 years from now. ;)

  • Mike irritates me. For someone to be so self righteous, you'd think he'd get off of his lazy butt and get a job! Why is Archie supporting him and his wife, while Mike get's away with talking shit?

  • @shannonanddee1 Mike is going to College- Archie made a deal with him when he gets out gets a job then he pays Archie back-

  • @shannonanddee1

I always thought it was funny that Mike always wore those blue workman's shirts, and he never had a job:O)

  • @mari66101 It's been a long time but wasn't he supposed to be going to college?

  • @mari66101

Well, the meathead did work as a college tutor once.

  • @mari66101 lol!! Right!

  • @mari66101 Those were the official workman's shirts of the "Polish unemployment team".

  • Eidth is so adorable.

  • mike is such a self-righteous hypocrite

  • i always wonder when i watch all in the family, why archie doesn't backhand Mike, like Tennis...lol

  • love this one

  • I hope she lives another 20 years, too. I've met people in their 90's who I would've sworn weren't older than 75.

  • Can you believe that Edith turned 87 this year!

  • @MaxinePadlock There is a special interview on You Tube with Jean Stapleton. It's maybe 2 hrs long! It's great!!! "Jean Stapleton - Archive Interview", 4 parts!

  • mike is a loser

  • That's why you always carry a camera in your car, for your defense. You put one hardly noticeable scratch into someones car, they will get a knife and scratch the hell out of it. They will work you for an entire paint job. Just a smart bit of advice for you all.

  • Oh God.... my dad would have the same reaction if my mom left a note about this. All In The Family comes way too close to my life again. :-P

  • the heavier the syrup the bigger the dent.

  • @nuwavething LOL

  • Dear honest Edith.......God bless her. She was WAY too good for stupid, ol' Archie, but she loved the creep anyhow!

  • A freak accident for sure! This scene is absolutely immortal.

  • "it was a freak accident" LMAO.

  • this is one of my all time favorite scenes in a sitcom!

  • 4:33 is so funny

  • 3:06 is so funny and the best episode

  • I love how she throws in 'in heavy syrup!' at 4:11, makes a hysterical line even funnier, omg this is one of the best All in the Family moments, easily in the Top 5.

  • Hilarious!

  • One of the best tv shows made. I love this show.

  • I absolutely loved this show growing up and I stll love it today. Archie is priceless.

  • lmao oh archie.

  • i remember the bunkers would come on and mom would get bent and leave the room and chant on the way out"OH I DONT LIKE THAT MAN "and wouldnt come back out till it was over. great show

  • I'm a bit too young to have enjoyed the early episodes of AITF when they first ran, but my mother complained about how much she didn't like Married with Children when it premiered. It offended her with the raunchiness, I guess.

AITF and MWC are both epic series in my book. They're like father and son to me.

  • @zhelder ya but you see what i'm talking about

  • The mmmm mmmm! in heavy syrup!

  • I love this episode. Thanks for the post.

  • Really a testament to how we've progressed as a society...or haven't. Can you imagine a sitcom or any other show on television actually discussing the issues? No wonder we're all in so much trouble.

  • "It was a freak accident!" XDD

  • Simply Daisy, that's VERY funny. I think I might need to try that. Just "hmm hmm" and see how it works.

  • I hated it in the early 70's when I was a kid. I guess I didn't understand it and, it came on at the same time as NBC's "Emergency" program. That WAS my fave back then. I couldn't wait for the closing credits to show up so I could switch from CBS to NBC to catch the last half hour of Emergency. Of course, back in those days, we only had the one TV set and my parents always watched AITF on Saturday nights at 8PM. Nowadays, I can't get enough of it.

  • I grew up on AIF in the 70's. I love it to this day..

  • This is one of my favorite scenes of AIF. To this day when my friends and I can't say something we always do the cling peaches hum. It's funny how things stick with you.

  • This show really makes you laugh! Cling Peaches!

  • In heavy syrup!!!

  • Archie rocks.

  • My Uncle Joe loves this show,so I'm dedicating it to him.

  • Comment removed

  • archje is real

  • Archie never laid a hand on Edith.

  • @fastheinz039 who said he did?

  • @latinahoney123

I believe the comment I was responding to was removed. Something about Archie being a wife-beater. That was a year ago at least...

  • @fastheinz039 Amen.

  • "...Because there's a special providence that takes care of drunks and dingbats."

    LOL. Archie's the best!

  • What season is this? Never saw it...

  • @brewcrew01984 Season 2 (1971-72)

  • Cling Peaches.....in Heavy Syrup.

    LOL

  • so much like my neighbors growing up. Old NY was something else !

  • LOL. Look at Archies expression at 4:25 !!!

  • R.I.P. Archie

  • Hilarious !!!

  • A couple of random thoughts:

If AITF was responsible for God Times, then it was ultimately responsible for Facta of Life as well.

Jean Stapleton was an amazing stage actress, a phenomenal tv actress and arguably the best actor on this show, which was the most groundbreaking show of any era, ever.

  • @A10thunderbolt The company (T.A.T. Communications, a spin-off of Tandem Productions, both owned by Norman Lear), but not the show.

  • He is such a good looking man.

  • Archie?

  • Yep. Not the attitude the dude .

  • This show spawned 5 spin offs of which ran for multiple seasons, and of the spin offs 2 spawned there own spin offs.

All in the Family is either directly or indirectly responsible for Archie's Place, Maude, The Jeffersons, Gloria, 704 Hauser Street, Checking In, and Good Times.

  • how does Good Times fit into that?

geez, never heard of gloria, 704 or Checking in... any of them any good?

  • Florida Evans was Maudes Maid

Edith (of All in the Family) was Maude's (of Maude) Cousin, who had a maid Florida Evans (of Good Times)

Ive never seen Gloria 704 or Checking In. I wouldn't imagine them to be much good considering they had rather short runs.

  • oh, thanks for the info... I didnt realize Flo worked for Maude. Do you know how the Evans family ended up in chicago? Or is that where Maude lived? Or perhaps just something never explained.

  • Her background was rewritten to fit. In show its a plot hole though.

  • @heylover3

Florida worked for Maude in the first couple seasons of "Maude"; Maude lived in Tuckahoe, NY not far from NYC. Now how the Evans wound up in Chicago I don't know. On "Maude", Florida's hubby was named Henry; on "Good Times" his name mysteriously changed to James & there was no reference to Florida's having worked for Maude. In "Good Times" opening credits is the outside of the Cabrini-Green Chicago housing project.
