sendz a prayer and gentle hug . i was diagnosed with Epilepsy in May 2010 . I have grand mal , complex partial . and starting in Jan 2011 i also starting having absence seizures. i'm 24 year old female . i just wanted to let you know that your not alone . after my seizures i get a bad headache that brings me to tears .
@LoSeRrOcKiNoN Hi, thanks for asking. It's usually neurological...a mis-firing of the brain patterns. I think they are more common in children with delays such as Simon has.
@gertyp Thank you! I know someone at my school is epileptic and I was afraid to ask. Is that a difficult disease to handle? My cousin has downsyndrome, and my other cousin has cerebral palsy. I am just curious. Thank you for your help once again.
@LoSeRrOcKiNoN You are very kind to consider their feelings. I would bet they'd be glad to talk about it, because if one is educated then one is more compassionate and they probably wouldn't feel so different.
I assume you're talking epilepsy when you are asking about hard to handle...and yes it really can be. Simon takes 3 diffferent meds and they still aren't 100% controlled.
my family were told not to hug someone in any kind of fit as long as the area around them is clear of anything that can cause harm then let them come round on their own but just monitor them and talk to them calmly unless help really is needed ie emergency services
for the record u taped it for the doc and all those other dipshits saying that it's wrong can go fuck themselves! i always wanted to see what I look like when I have a seizure take it this breaks my heart to watch someone so young have one but try having epilepsy since youre 6 all the way to age 24 and not having it stabilized til youre in your 20's so there goes the want to drive right out the door because youre in fear of wrecking and hurting yourself or someone else u have no idea
I am so sad for your child and upset that you would post this. He deserves privacy during his seizure, not for the one person (his parents to do this to him).
This is sooo sad i hope this little miracle is better now i would be beside myself if one of my babies had them.. You must be strong coz something like this would be so hard. Lots of warm hugs & kisses for the lil man
as an early intervention therapist, I have even told parents to video tape a child having a suspected seizure. Often, the kids are given a short 1 hour EEG which does not always capture an actual seizure. Video taping the seizure can be crucial to diagnosing the type of seizure the child may be having and to actually show the doctor that the child is having a seizure,
that was pretty scary. what should u do when this happens? is he taking medication for the seizures or did the doctors say that he'd grow out of them?
AS THE PARENT OF A CHILD WITH AS (AND SEIZURES AS WELL) I GUARANTEE WATCHING YOUR CHILD HAVE THE SEIZURE WAS INSANELY HARD, BUT NECESSARY! MAY GOD BLESS AND YOUR SON! AND TOO ANYONE TOO IGNORANT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WE GO THROUGH: NEVER EXPLAIN...THOSE WHO MATTER DONT MIND...AND THOSE WHO MIND DONT MATTER! BLESSINGS!
@angelmandialogues tottally agree my 4 year old daughter has seizures has and it is the hardest thing to watch but as you say we have to not only for our childrens safety but also so we can relay what happened to health proffesionals, i wish all our children well x
I think that it is the right thing to do to document what was happening to your son. It is so helpful to so many people who may be in the same situation and have no idea what they are maybe dealing with. Being in the health care field myself (COTA)I can understand why you did this and Thank you so much!!!!!!!!! For the negative post, go take a first aid course ,you don't grab people having a seizure!!!!
@dragonflyscarmen Right on! Picture worth a thousand words, video worth so much more. These situtation are not easly recreated for documentary. From what I have seen on Youtube, seizure affacted different people, different way. I also used Youtube to communicate w my son's medical professionas. Hope everything goes well this boy.
Well im sorry i dont think is right for you to film your son having a seizure what the hell is wrong with you i would of been hugging my son like crazy i think that is really personel i dont need no one to be watching my son having...crazy people
@Rosalinda776 As i said, I needed to do it for the doctor. YouTube was the only way to post it for the doctor. It's very helpful for a doctor to see the type of seizure.
@gertyp I agree with u 150% I didnt have a camera with me to record my two sons having seizures when they were 6 wks old to 2 yrs old.....no1 would believe me about their seizures...my oldest son only had mild ones but my 2nd son was the one who had them the worst and many of them were scary...so yes its not cruel to record ur son...its very helpful for others out there who witness their loved ones having seizures...bcuz doctors say there is more than 26 types of seizures yes MORE THAN 26 TYPES
@Rosalinda776 These videos are extremely helpful diagnostic tools for a neurologist. Even hospitals video patients having seizures. I was onced videoed by a hospital for 8 days!
@Rosalinda776 rosalinda you obviously have never been in this sittuation we are asked to film our childrens seizures FOR DOCTORS TO SEE, and also by 'hugging your child like crazy' could actually make things a lot worse and injure your child so please unless you undferstand or have been in this sittuation quit with your negativity
You seem to have the same issue I do. everytime I get a seizure of my daughters on video, theres ALWAYS some crazy thing playing on the tv or radio!! Good luck, I know that feeling, my four year old just had to be put on oxygen when she has seizure cause she turns blue and drops her sats
breaks my heart. my eleven year old daugther has seizure disorder too. it is a very frightening thing to look at.she is in a catatonic stage now, very mobile but not much cognition, the doctor is trying to wean her off of the benzodiazepam but her seizures are coming back. our thoughts and prayers are with you simon and your family, hope you get better.
This was the first Simon video I saw. My heart about leapt out of my chest. my children have had febseizures. My first reaction is why did they put this on Youtube. The Jerks. But reason kicked in and said to let others know about this stuff. You see so many terrible things on this site that people think is funny. It's sometimes difficult not to think the worst. But thank you for putting this up. I learned about a disorder that I probably would never hear of unless it happened to someone I know.
Thank you for your kindness. I put it up on here originally just to get it to the doctor in the easiest manner. I'm dumbfounded by how many hits it's had! And yes, if I can educate people on seizure or PKS, I want to do t!
A couple things. Fevers in babies are severe & should be treated in a hospital b/c they cannot regulate their temperatures well. Also, sure seizures may not be so scary, 1)protect them, do not put anything in their mouth-if they have teeth they could break/chip them, and if a person/child has multiple seizures back to back call EMS. During a seizure the person is not getting oxygen, prolonged-10-20min of seizing is obviously not compatible with life. Please take my advise without rude comments.
this is a good example what to do when it happens put him / her on their sides and let them wait it out with out disrupting the movements. And no they aren't as dangerous as they look.
My son has febrile seizures and to be able to see the difference in seizures helps me know for sure if this is what they really are. My sons seizures look dfferent but seriously after so many 911 calls you are pretty much helpless as they are you can't do anything during a seizure really but wait unil its done and put the child in a safe place. Depending on hope bad it is the mom will know.
you all dont get it... the worst thing that can happen is him falling and hitting his head... but since he is laying on carpet. he is fine.. i have seizures and its not like you think...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
fuck what they know about seizure or know what to do.this fucking mother is a fucking dumbass.he could of die...you know why?,if the baby pass out from seizure and the mom don't do shit like this one...and the prademic do not arrive in time he will died.
if that was my baby i would be freaking out..but you guys are probably already prepared and know what to do when this happens. god bless you and your son.
Because the child's Dr needs to know what happens during the seizure, how long it lasts, how long it takes him to become aware afterwards, & so on. Yes, it's hard to watch but the information is very helpful. I started keeping my camcorder handy so my kids can video mine. When they are able to record it, I want to see it since I have no memory of what happened afterward.
To all those who post with positive comments THANK YOU! It has helped the doctor so much and has also been used by med students. Simon's meds are still increasing but the seizures have lessened in frequency and duration. He is such a sweetheart and a blessing to me! THANK YOU ALL!
yeah you better take care of him better than that.he could of died in that clip.I was like...if I was there the mom will get her ass thrown out of the house because of that stupidity.
actually she is supposed to record him. if you knew anything about seizures you would know this. the dr. needs to see what happens so they ask that the parents record them. they are doing exactly what the dr. said. my daughter has seizures and i've been through this. so no, she shouldn't be "thrown out of the house"
why r u leaving commentsabout things u obviously know nothin about, my baby has these seizures and there is nothing u can do for them but lie them on their side!!!!
wow dude how fucking dumb are you, your not supposed to touch the kid and u have to record it and show the doctor. pull your head out of your ass before leaving stupid comments
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for posting this video. Not only did I have childhood seizures that purportedly scared the shit out of my mother, but now I am a 28 year old med student and your video (and other videos) have helped me immeasurably.
Very good, Gretchen, particularly for those who haven't a clue as to what's going on. As a sufferer myself, my key points for others is the following: 1. Move me to a quiet place (the ears & brain ache); 2. Kill ceiling fans and bright lights (the eyes dialate plus ); 3. Asking immediate questions is painful & usually impossible to answer, so don't unless simple yes or no responses are needed; 4. Assume a "Thank-you." Forget the issue and move forward afterwards. Doing so helps the sufferer.
Aw this is so sad. Ive had seizures since i was about 8 or 9 and im 19 now. my parents did this same thing (taped me seizing) when i was in he process of being diagnosed. this litle guys seizure sems intense and really long :( poor thing.
his response did not justify it at all though. He missed the point. If you filmed your baby dying, would it make a difference to the doctor viewing the view if you were comforting the kid or not? of course not. the diagnosis remains the same. Don't be an idiot.
Are you comparing a kid dying to a kid having a seizure? The doctor asked them for a video of the seizure and that's what was made. Maybe it would have made a difference to the doctor if gertyp was holding the child, are you a doctor? Do you know if there is an advantage/disadvantage to the observation if they held the child?
either way your "rotten piece of shit" comment was out of line.
You could have still sat with him, holding his head.. there is no advantage to the film seeing him all by himself. If you were holding him, he would have still been diagnosed. The seizure would have still been obvious. I don't see your point. You obviously don't have one.
if u hold them u will pass on ur body heat 2 them when ur tryin 2 bring their temp down u ass hole, dont slag off the parents when u know nothin about it!!!!
Thanks for your support erazman. You don't know how bad I wanted to do just that. I filmed the seizure for the doctor and to get them diagnosed properly. It's rare that Simon or any child will have one in front of the doctor and so it's hard to diagnose.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
why don't you hug the little guy after his seizure and comfort him. Why do you just sit there and film him like he's an object. You rotten piece of shit.
SHe had to do this for the dr. When you have a child and something is wrong with that child, you can't just expect them to 'perform' for the dr.
If you don't get that, you need a clue. And she shouldn't even have had to give you an answer.....and so politely.....much more politely than I would have!
I didn't dare try and turn it off while I was filming! It's a cd called "We interrupt this broadcast" and it's talking about the OJ Simpson/Nicole Brown episode.
i hope he gets well cuz i remember seein weeners my gradmas doxen haveing a seizure and he had the foam comeing out of his mouth it was so sad may god bless simon
MY GOD, MY GOD, I am overwhelmed with seeing this. Please Lord, bless this child with Your Mercy. I have a child with IS, I just cannot imagine how hard this is for you to watch. Lord in Heaven, have Mercy on this child!
Your little boy is precious! Please keep us updated and let us know what you find out and if they can be controlled. Poor little guy, I just want to hold him.
You are too kind. Overall the seizures have improved and I'm so thankful. He was out of school a month--getting healthy and rested (he had some ear infections) and that has made a big difference.
Yes that is a grand mall seizure...my husband has them ever since he was 2 years old and now he is 44 yrs old and still has them..also on disabilitity since he was 3 yrs old. Also now i think my 1st born one month old grand son has them too. We need to get him checked out.
Your son and family are in my thoughts and prayers. poor little fella.
oh my goodness :'(
god bless him, I pray that he has a long healthy life, he is so precious <3

Thanks for your support erazman. You don't know how bad I wanted to do just that. I filmed the seizure for the doctor and to get them diagnosed properly. It's rare that Simon or any child will have one in front of the doctor and so it's hard to diagnose.

why don't you hug the little guy after his seizure and comfort him. Why do you just sit there and film him like he's an object. You rotten piece of shit.

SHe had to do this for the dr. When you have a child and something is wrong with that child, you can't just expect them to 'perform' for the dr.
If you don't get that, you need a clue. And she shouldn't even have had to give you an answer.....and so politely.....much more politely than I would have!

hi, what is the narration in the background?
monkeyintrouble 3 years ago
I didn't dare try and turn it off while I was filming! It's a cd called "We interrupt this broadcast" and it's talking about the OJ Simpson/Nicole Brown episode.

He is such a darling boy. I love him so much.
THANK YOU!
