  • technique ya ya in fuckin spades-feel?predictable major/minor runs-shadow of jimi-stevie especially

  • the best version of Red House !!!!! KING OF KINGS !!!!!

  • 1:02 FUCK yeah, nailed it!! :DD

  • No, just no, no disrespect or anything, but this guy takes a dump on Jimi's music.

  • gary moore kick the ass of malmsteen

  • wannabe Jon Lord. :D

  • This is a great version of Red House. Yngwie is not trying to play Hendrix note for note but rather add his thumb print to one of the best blues songs ever written. I could see Jimi smiling and giving Yngwie a high five for a truely ripping and unusual take on his song.

  • Tasty

  • its not bad there are some good licks in there but it just feels as if the whole song was rushed and it doesn't have that passion that most blues musicians have when they play

  • 474 Disgruntled, Jealous Guitar Players. Shredding Blues is STILL COOL!!!

  • I think he needs to dial it back a notch and really savor every note.. My personal opinion though. Everyone is entitled to their own style and tastes and mine aren't necessarily better or more right than anyone else's. No guitarist is necessarily wrong... Except for the Guy from Jonas Brothers.

  • Error 404 - Feelin' not found.

  • He really is an awesome guitarist.

    A shredder that's actually musical....now there's something TOTALLY different.

  • Thats a great blues... far away from my style but great!!!!

  • I am sure that the disslikes are tecno-freaks. Sorry, but they now nothing about REAL music.

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!great sound!!!

  • One of the last living Kings of the Stratocaster

  • Not feeling this at all.

    Sorry.

  • @charlieisamonster

    What a shame.

  • ok so blues doesnt mean slow.. he is a god at guitar. yngwie is one of the only shredders i know who can play this fast but yet have an AMAZING amount of feeling. thats why he is my favourite guitarist

  • Just luv this style of blues a bit different from the standard hahahaha...of course Yngwie's style lol!!!

  • cyber space! four years and he's still here brutalizing this song. I'll tell you one more time: if you can't sing all three verses and tell the story, don't start the song. what part of song don't people understand? fuck this song up like this and you might get your ass kicked. Please! it ain't like this drunk is Paco de Lucia. I'll say it one more time! If you can't deliver the song, don't start. Don't fake the funk or your nose will grow.

  • Wow! Never heard him play blues!

  • thats slow n4 him lol

  • Alsos, does anyone else think his voice sounds a lot like Gary Moore?

  • HURR PLAYING FAST MEANS THERE'S NO FEELING AT ALL DURR TRILLIONS OF NOTES MEANS IT'S MINDLESS SHREDDING AND IT SUCKS BIG HAIRY BALLS DERP DERP

    Seriously, guys. Enough with that.

  • Thats good playing and all but it loses the spirit of the original . Now , I'm getting fed up of people who think that playing blues is sustaining a single note for one minute while making orgasm faces *_*

  • this is why this piece of shit is getting disliked (/watch?v=Rpx0JAwph_c)

  • This is pretty fucking good blues. And there's no speed limit in blues, it's about playing what you feel.

  • that son of a bitch can SING!!

  • Nobody know what Jimi would think dudes. Shut shut up and listen to this masterpiece. Im not a Malmsteen fan, most of the time i think he sucks cause he is playing way too crappy, but this is GENIOUS!

  • @annolenno agree.

  • Comment removed

  • Okay well.... Im not a fan of Yngwie, but why is there so many disslikes? I mean its not bad blues just beacuese its fast! Just because its not slow its not bad. Hes VERY good at the thing he does.

  • @sebgab100 People are missing the fact that Yngwie is NOT a blues guitarist.. tell me another professional non-blues guitarist who can feel a blues scale like that.

  • @jordanbeaulieu hmm ok, john mayer, oh and btw if hes not a a blues player why is he playing blues?

  • @sebgab100 Golden words, man! :)

  • The YNGWIE Equation: 100% Skill + 350% Kinky Hair = Pure, Unadulterated Free-Flowing Feeling

  • just because he can play fast does NOT mean theres no feeling. people hate on yngwie because hes good. stop being tards people and enjoy the amazing tone dripping from this mans fingertips

  • this just pissed me off so god damn bad, that sounded like complete and utter ASS, jimi would most likely be offended by this shit, this man needs to stay the hell away from blues, or AT LEAST not be allowed to cover a great song and just completely butcher the shit out of it

  • Best red house ever

  • Now I know he should really stay away from playing blues, let alone singing.

  • This is an insult to Jimi, he ruined the masterpiece with his compeletely nonsense and unmusical shredding. If Jimi was alive he would crash the guitar on his head.

  • I can't say I really subscribe to the idea that playing slow blues songs = the blues. Hendrix let his guitar rip whenever he felt like it, and I think that most would agree that he was a virtuoso! Playing with "feeling", in my opinion, means that you are able to play whatever tempo you want without losing your ability to show your technique, the thing that makes your playing unique. No matter how fast Yngwie plays, he still has great technique and that is good for the ears!

  • @Fredrikjaa well, what people don't realize is that the blues are technically anything played 12 bars. they don't have to be slow, they don't have to be fast, and they don't have to be the shuffle.

  • Comment removed

  • Malmsteen would blow Jimi off the stage with his shredodelic tendencies...

Dont hate cause you cant shred.

  • @StSimonMartyr Amen bro ;)

  • look, the simple fact is that this is mutha f-ing Malmsteen and he can do WTF he wants to with that gawd damn guitar and until any of you bitches who talk shit put up something better.. suck a fat one.

  • jimi would be offended

  • @gould0453 i am offended you somehow survived the abortion

  • @tgolba90 lol doesn't change the fact that this video is shit

  • Como assassinar um blues.

  • wow..

  • Yingwee is a douche and I mean that in the nicest way, but c'mon....how can one argue that.

But....he is without a doubt one of the greatest players we have ever seen. He has learned to combine doucheosity and virtuosity into a pretty potent package!!

  • @Kozmonot91

Doucheosity...was that intended as a musical term or just a manifestation of your idiocy?

  • @Easleytee

Oh, did I hurt your feelings because you have posters of the douche himself slinging a firery strat around his shoulder. My guess is that this is either Yingwee himself or you have never met the guy? As I said, he is a great player but a complete and total douche. Yes, doucheosity is certainly a manifestation of my idiocy....does that even make sense? give Yingwee a pacifier and a pat on the head for me.

  • @Easleytee

I wish you would have published your comments publicly, I actually like you....that was funny!!! I assume you spent many hours in front of a thesaurus trying to chain all of those words together so that they made sense....Edification was pretty sweet I must say. You have to give me credit for saying it it must be Yingwee himself. I guess I have "Unleashed the fury" no? don't forget, I did say Yingwee was a great player too. Alas, he is still a douche errr.....you are!

  • Yngwie Malmsteen, the high priest of the Fender Stratocaster, once again shows the world just how much of a guitar god he truly is. As for the haters, here's what we know about you: You've never met Yngwie, you can't play like Yngwie, and you have absolutely no fucking clue what you're talking about. Malmsteen is one of the most dominant forces in the guitar world, and has been so for 25 years.

  • why do shredders allways have to look like TITS

  • how awesome to be playing red house! love the blues!!!

  • Poor haters... looks like their ears aren't evolved enough to enjoy the music, so they have to shit on everything to compensate...

  • Oh, man. This is fucking awesome. Yngwie Rocks.

  • what the fuck is up with the gay ass kick at the beginning?

  • That sucked the chrome off of all the bumpers in the world.

  • Just goes to show that a proficiency in playing very fast successions of notes does not amount to a proficiency in playing great blues guitar. This is a very sterile, perfunctory interpretation, separated by light years from the spirit of Hendrix's brilliant virtuoso technique, which was born of true pain of heart and a living connection to the Delta blues tradition. If you want to hear what a really good cover of this song sounds like, then forget the shredder-heads and listen to Buddy Guy.

  • Crap. Fast fingers and a can of hairspray do not make one a musican.

  • im sorry but that was fucking horrible

  • It was great until he started shredding. Stop shredding!

  • @Akinnss u idiot. it was great until he STOPPED shredding

  • Those are some kickass blueslicks! Everyone who says Yngwie can't play blues, doesn't know what he's talking about. Yngwie is obviously great at playing blues.

  • I thought this keyboard player kicked ass until I saw Bob Katsinosis. Still impressive though.

  • blues is not for Yngwie

  • The one thing Yngwie has that most shredders don't is you can see his emotion in his playing. Like a great composer (Bach, Mozart, Chopan ect.) he plays the notes he feels need to be played no more no less. You can always pick out a great phrase in the middle of almost any Malmsteen shredding solo that shows some sort of bluesy root. While I am a classic rock and SRV/Hendrix fan I have always liked Yngwie's stuff. I Would add Vinnie Moore that list as well of great shredders with a bluesy feel.

  • The main thing is , Yngwie pick up guitar because of jimi influcence , why the fuck you all need to compare his style with jimi's style . His a neo-classical shredder , So what are you all trying to fucking up his style ?? His style so let it be lah . fucking retarded envy you got on his style vs jimi . Brainless shit . Talking like you are even closer to his skill . just get lost . Jimi iznt proud to see people clashing about his influence . Its good yngwie is living up jimi's name until now .

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LISTEN

  • Yngwie has complete control over the guitar. It is a servant to its master's will.

  • hendrix version is better. this is good but it gets annoying he just trys to play all super fast is what it seems like. why does every one think they know how to play the blues. listen to hendrix version if you want to hear how a blues man plays. listen to this verson if you wanna get a headache. his guitar sounds overly distored

  • Whats all this crap about Yngwies shredding on this, its what he does . Listen to Hendrixs live versions of Red house, they are hardly lessons in restraint and ill bet he was trying to play as fast as possible too.

  • Just watched 5 vids. of retards trying to cover Jimi. I've heard the name but haven't seen nor heard this dude play before. There will never be another Jimi, his guitar was like an extension of his body, his style and fluidity are incomparable. But Yngwie Kicks Fuckin' Ass. Very impressive. People who talk Shit about Yngwie do so for a reason, it's a feeble attempt to remove the taste of Justin Beibers dick, and Brittany Spears butt hole from their mouths. Get some Listerine Fuckers.

  • HEY YNGWIE--IF YOU SEE THIS GIVE UP THE "NEO-CLASSICAL" AND STICK WITH BLUES.........YOU KICK ASS AT IT

  • There is no need to do a cover if it isn't DIFFERENT than the original (or most famous version). Yngwie do his own version. It is not better than Hendrix's version but it is different and still very good.

  • @mudmen1000 That's Yngwie's version, could you "butcher" a song like that?

  • If you ever need someone to totally butcher a classic blues song, just give it to Yngwie. He'll throw in so many unnecessary arpeggios and speed riffing that you'll be running for the door in no time.

  • @rodentcafeteria seriously for Yngwie this is very laid back ..and very good---this is not "speed riffing' compared to what he usually does---this is like a turtle stuck in glue playing guitar compared to what he usually does and it's pretty good...

  • Once again Malmsteen show he's fast (so what) but lacks real feeling and a sense of the blues. All flash and no substance.

  • @abbyguy People used to say that about another fast player... what was his name? Oh yeah, Buddy Guy... Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it's not valid. Yngwie is a great player, and he has a lot of soul... I think Bob Mould said it best "if you feel like playing 1000 notes, but don't because you think it's self indulgent, you're not being true to yourself and that is what [ music ] is about... " Ok, so bob was talking about big solos in punk, but the point relates here to

  • @tsuei05: Pont taken. I just think he is far over rated. I also feel he should not be credited with the adulatiuon and glory he gets from so many that just worship fast fingers jsu because thay can't do it.

  • To me Hendrix' blues is simplicity, he said so much without playing a lot. On the other hand is this guy over embellishing and making every phrase a mishmash of showoff tricks.

  • Una o quizas la mejor versión de esta pieza.

  • One of my favourite renditions of Red House. Utterly fantastic - and I am a huge and long time Hendrix devotee

  • I can listen to the last solo 12 times in a row and not get enough!

  • esse cara é do inferno!!!!!!!!!

  • yes Yngwee, I can play Redhouse.

  • Does Yngwee have a BLUES album? If he doesn't he should--but really, he should get rid of the major scale movements, and the endless arrpegios and get on down with the flatted 357s (the blues scale) and re-do SRV songs and other great blues classics,--like he did here -- that would be a great work, and one I would definitely buy--

  • That's my kind of Blues!

  • It's pretty good. He put his own style in it and it sounds great.

  • @voodoochild1311 Yeah that is pretty hot playing. But! I think I like Gary Moore's version of Red House a bit better. Maybe? It should be in the playlist box to your right.

  • That's what we called a dynamic blues.. Aplause.'

  • Why does he have to go into full speed 10 sec after the song starts. Jesus fucking christ. Does he have a small penis or something?

He has very interesting licks but just throw them around like they're candy, removing any melodic phrasing he could get out of them.

  • Incredible guitarist (though I like the same song by Gary Moore better).

  • Lets give some credit to the Damn Keyboardist WHOA!!!

  • God I love that tone he fires off at exactly 1.01.5!!

  • He seems to over embellish everything, Blues is simple, just sayin'

  • popopopopopopooooooooooooooooooooowwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

  • Yngwie Malmsteen is good enough to shred over blues and come back down to the slow blues swing vibe and do it well. I don't think him shredding over Red House ruined the song at all. He's just detailing what is possible to do over a 12 bar blues track and still sound bluesy.

  • Malmsteen's a fucking hack. This sucks big fat rhino balls.

  • @Scrotemeister Says the scrote meister himself.

  • Malmsteen obviously fucking loves playing guitar every time he picks one up, if you can't see that you have no right to comment on whether somebody has passion or not. Just because he shreds like an absolute demon doesn't not mean there is no passion or soul behind what he is doing. Personally, I think this is an absolutely brilliant take on this song. Jimi Hendrix is not the only guitar player in the world.

  • @flobtob Brilliant comment. Wraps all the comments in this list flushed them down the toiliet !!!

  • @flobtob

    Spot-on.

  • What is wrong with this? Malmsteen did this really good.

I mean, his technique is incredible!

So it sounds like some of you are a bit jealous. So stop putting him down and think that you know best, okay?

  • Its alright, obviously not his strong suit/

  • yngwie malmsteen should not try and play blues

  • @bjg7272 Malmsteen is a fantastic blues player... You ignorant prick.

  • @bjg7272 why do people always complain about yngwie for fuck sakes !! IS IT BECAUSE HE IS AN INCREDIBLE SHREDDER . YNGWIE HAS SO MUCH BLUES IN HIMSELF THAT HE CAN DESTROY 5 GALAXIES ALL AT ONCE. blues is something u have to feel, its not because yngwie doesnt play blues the orthodox way that it isnt blues. it obviously is !!

  • @xSnoweyexp i never said, it wasnt blues. it is blues. its just plain bad. he sucked the life out of this cover

  • @xSnoweyexp

Not that I have anything against Yngwie, he is an awsome guitarist and I like this version of the song for what it is but...

There is a saying "Less is more". While it doesnt make this bad, I do feel that even Gary Moore's version is better. Imo this song is better the Hendrix way then the Malmsteen way, thou that is more an oppinion of the tune then the guitarists. And as earlier stated I aint got anyhting against Yngwie, rather the contrary.

  • @xSnoweyexp I don't think it's so much his playing as it is the way he comes off when you here him talking... I think he is an amazing guitarist, but I just watched a documentary where he called hendrix noise and said there isn't anything normal about himself, which just comes off pretentious. I'm not saying he is, I'm just saying that's how he comes off.

  • @xSnoweyexp ya ygmastein plays the blues, shredder way with no soul or feel. the riffs are just pre-programmed with lots of techie circus

  • ugliest fucker ever seen...hate you malmsteen

  • wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!increible

  • This is how its done

  • As a joke: As being from Sweden, did ever Malmsteen listen an ABBA song?

  • @aditzulu Not only did Yngwie listen to ABBA (how could you not as a Swedish kid in the 70's) - he also covered 'Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!' by them. Look it up here on YT.

  • In the 80s when I was 18 all the gang with which I was making heavymetalled white nights were rejecting Malmsteen as "too speed focused" and "no feeling guy". No at 47 I like the man. He s fuckin passioned.

NOTE - Keyboard guy looks like BONO!

  • Il est vraiment très fort ... :)

  • That was really great. I think we people here in Sweden can be proud about somebody like Yngwie.

  • Excellent !

  • loko el compadre y seco pa la guitarra!!!! ven pa chile!!

  • This isn't bad music, but he is for sure dragging Hendrix song down several levels... Asshole.

  • @rexans -First off dude “Red House” was (is) not a Hendrix song. Jimi did an interpretation of it just like Yngwie. Hendrix brought this old blues original to the contemporary rock stage and made his own in many ways which is why Yngwie played with his teeth as a tribute to Jimi’s interpretation. Yngwie is doing his interpretation which is just a valid as Jimi’s.

  • @jjooboo Jimi would most probably played it this way if he could:)

Anyhow.... Jimi made a masterpeice - Yngwie made him proud!!

  • @jjooboo What are you talking about? Jimi hendrix WROTE the song "Red House" It IS an Hendrix original.

  • I counted all his notes, he fucking missed one, the fanny!.

  • i never wanted to hate on him. It just doesn't sound like the blues. The "organ player "is playing too many notes, and the guitar player stomps on him before he's done. How could they have heard and learned so many blues licks and play like they missed every class. It's music 301, bone up; all music has a swing: this ain't it

  • Wow I'm impressed with him. Still too much shred wanking for my personal taste, but this showed a side of him I didn't know he had.

  • So fast so gooood... :-)

  • king of the blues !!!

  • this is shred not blues haha, but its still good

  • @SONYAUX

I think that should one of the first things going through your head as you click the video

  • i never knew malmsteen could sing

  • @SamyazaLovatt

    And I still don't know

  • @SamyazaLovatt he can't. :)

  • @Bruno1995Bruno Hey that is one of my all time favourite songs. The first time I heard it I was driving and I pulled over to the side of the road to listen and thought who in God's name is that brilliant guitarist? Gary Moore out so much feeling into his solos! I think that he was vastly under rated and his untimely passing is a great loss to guitar music the world over.

  • it's like talking to a wall. what do i have to say to provoke a response? Pay me lip service, tell me you know that Red House is a song that regardless of it's simplicity should be sung. I'll write in capitals. RED HOUSE IS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW OFF. and whatshendrix! they ain't equals. When Jimi hit the tri-tone of Purple Haze in '67 the radio blew up. Some times I think half of you all don't like Jimi, never listen 'cause he's too heavy. Huh? What?

  • @bry3921 Well I agree with you but since the primary purpose of music is as Edie Van Halen put it "To move you or turn you on" everyone gets different things out of different artist's performances...for me blues is all about the powerful express of authentic feeling rooted in the suffering of the slaves. It was sincere, powerful and needed no displays of virtuosity to be effective. Music is like a conversation needing pauses and a dialogue not just one long monologue!

  • @turockandar

If you like expressive music, I strongly recomend you this song: Still got the blues - Gary Moore-

  • I dont care what people think about Yngwie, this is a good cover.

  • Well of course these things are subjective but what I will say is that BB king, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jef Beck or even Angus Young make each note count,,,,,they do not rely on machine gun fire speed to create a musical tension. My point,as I am sure you have understood, is that if one compares Paganini to Beethoven it is evident that the former is a demonstration of virtuosity but that the latter has more emotional impact. What do you think?

  • @turockandar if you remove one note from a malmsteen solo it's done for.

besides malmsteen has more emotion than you think, the fact that he improvises all his solos give it even more emotion.

  • @MGoudatalks look lets not argue...music is highly subjective of course and I have said that Yngwie is an extraordinary technician....for me he follows such rigid arpegio patterns that his runs seem predictable but to each his own...what do you think of speed demons like Steve Vai? Yngwie's playing is very structured that is for sure and thus like Bach there is a whole 'architecture' behind his runs which does need to be followed from start to finish.

  • The latest Visa commercial ? ; " The price for admission first row seating for Yngwie Malmsteen's Red House", $650. " Arriving just in time to see Yngwie's crotch ripping, high karate, boot to the roof lead-in to Red House"................."PRICELESS".

  • I am really not an Yngwie fan at all but first of all his singing is much better than I ever would imagined and second there is no doubt that he is a master of his instrument...I simply find his pyrotechnical displays of speed are to the detriment of authentic emotional expression.

  • @turockandar ; So what exactly is your idea of an "authentic emotional expression ? Please enlighten us.

  • 431 evil eye jealous people.

  • @MrYalicohen :

Not jealous, just see him for what he isn't, a true blues player, and never will be.

  • He's a very good guitarist but he should not play blues this way!!

  • Comment removed

  • everybody's doin hendrix. every musician every genre

    everybody just loves him

  • hes not made for the blues

  • I like metal and all, and this guy definitely has a LOT of talent... but his style is way too metal for Hendrix, and it just doesn't sound good. I'll have to check out some of his other stuff though, I can see him being an excellent metal guitarist.

  • ça reste un grand monsieur déjà du fait de son admiration pour Hendrix et Blackmore...

  • This is a damn fine blues!

  • Swedes can't rock.

  • He sang!

  • it's like stubborn children. my brother told his son when he got him his first guitar; you will represent, you will sing the song. i'm begging: anyone, please comment one way or another about singing the song. how many ways can it be told? clapton, page, moore, vai, nice but they ain't gods. the blues is about singing a song. not an argument. mike stern, pat martino, roy clark, and baden powell would school all these posers. dust them off. get over the competition. waste of time

  • I don't Shred, but I think Malmsteen has more feeling, talent, and emtotions as many shredders ! Love him, and his Hendrix's covers :)

  • for all the haterz: i dare saying that its not possible to play an instrument (any instrument) WITHOUT soul...so bitch please

  • You knuckleheads! You want to hear REAL feeling on a guitar then go listen to Johnny Winters version of Red House 1991. That's how you play Red House and play with feeling as Jimi did. Strumming the pick hand like a vibrating toothbrush and finger slapping the fret has ZERO feeling. It does nothing to the soul, well, unless you have no soul to move.

  • @Harpgrindin i lold

  • jimmi hendrix te debe estar aplaudiendo desde el cielo(o infierno) yngwie

  • Yeah cool blues. I also love Stevie Ray Vaughan's way to play the blues:

    /watch?v=wWu01J39YG4

this video is really good too.

  • the 425 who didn't like this would probably give Hendricks the same must be gen X , no concept of what the real guitar sounds like :)
