The perspective of the video may be a bit confusing. I was standing on a bluff that is probably ~100 feet above sea level and those waves were probably ~500 feet away from where I was standing when they were breaking (i.e., pretty far away). Obviously I couldn't measure the wave face heights precisely but I've seen large waves before and based on the time it took for a breaking wave's foam to land on the water below I stand by my estimate of about 20 feet.

uh, those are not waves with "heights in excess of 20 feet." are we watching the same video here?

@c21amc Ya those waves were about 5-7 feet. 20 footers look big even from far away.
