I have had my ds for some while now and a few minutes earlier i was using my ds lite and it broke the hinge ive watched/listened to alot of ideas on how to fix the hinge but i really dont wana take the chance of messing up my ds, should i buy a Replacement Case/Skin for it ?

depends. If you are confident enough that you can replace the DS shell. Otherwise you could also have a professional do it. I got my shell replaced by a professional who happens to be a friend of mine for $20.

please reply! i have a ds with a blue shell and i just got a phantom hourglass sticker for it. i put it on, then a week later, it looses its stickiness and it falls off, bringing the shell paint with it! is it a good idea to paint JUST the ds shell (outside)?

Get the transformers DS holder , put it on your DS and the Hard shell will protect your DS and your DS cards. the DS cards go on the back, thats why i got it.

Im going to fix my friend's top screen once the new screen gets delivered. I have not yet seen myself how a DS looks like from the inside, but since I have experience with electronics it shouldn't be too difficult. The main thing is to make sure you keep piece in a place so that you wont loose it, delicate hands and a bit of knowledge.

You can do it that way but it is alot more risky that the proffesionals might steal it, but it is also risky to change housing it all depends if you are cheap or would want to spend the extra dollar

It is not risky at all. the only thing is that you are mosty likely going to end up with dust and finger print on the inner screen which is absolutly unacceptable to me.

I opened my ds lite to fix a broken plastic part and now it doesn´t turn on or just turns on and 2 seconds later it turns off again, believe me, open a ds is a potential mess with those cables, the screws and delicate parts, I don´t know where to start to solve my problem, I don´t know what I did wrong, you should take so much care if you want to fix it by yourself, you might want to take it to some who repairs video games.

I've checked around for shell prices and see $54.99 and $19.99. I'm assuming the $54 one is an official DS shell and the $19 one is a third party product. I'd like to know how far off the third party shell is compared to the real one.

A wee warning to those who are thinking about doing the shell thingy - think long and hard on it because it is really fiddly and about midway through you're bound to have second thoughts hehe.

Holy Cow. I fixed my own DS Lite and it only cost $2. I ordered the screwdrivers and used this video to figure out how to take it apart. My power switch wasn't working. It was just bent back. I pushed it down, put it together and saved myself $73. Pretty cool.
