I know I may be late to this conversation, but I just discovered this posting...
Those of you speaking out against this video, you really should do some research into other Swirling Eddies material to get a feel for the band, and the context of the time from whence this came - late 80s/early 90s... I suggest, specifically, checking into the pop culture and other music and lyrics of the time, and more specifically, the music videos

Swirling eddies thing is an eclectic joke.Taylor is all about going under different names , using a wide range of musical styles He is a character and a genius , many genius types are eclectic and Terry put out some strange things with Daniel Amos. Listen to fearful symmetry by Daniel Amos or A Briefing for the ascent.th this is just weird humor. Spittle and phlegm is a pun on rattle and hum , this vide is a pun on paranoimia by art of noise.
I'm not hypocritical enough to think that I'm escaping any judgement here. Nevertheless, I think that people have mistaken the fact that Jesus loves everybody for the thought that Jesus thinks everybody is okay as they are. We're not. And the Eddies might want to be a little more clear on that.
By the way, I also pity people who believe in small-g god and gods. Jesus is the way!
And if this video is about all kinds of people loving God and God loving all kinds of people, then I applaud the thought, but the end product is kind of confusing. Whatever else the Eddies are, they are a very Christian band, and loving people who need love is not the same as approving of behavior by people who are sinning. Don't get me wrong, that includes "straight" adulterers, drunks and drug addicts, it covers a lot of ground.
Well, I know the story of the Eddies, in fact have been a big fan of DA since I was introduced to them by notofthisworld5of5. Yes, they do like to think outside the box and for that I love them, but I never thought their irreverance extended to Jesus! And God didn't create men to look like women, women to look like men or either gender to look like a painted poster! The way I hear the song, it's a song about loving God, which is way cool!

Yikes I know GOD has a sense of humor but I find this rather disturbing for a Christian video and band. Is this song supposed to be about loving God and God loving us? Anyway Men in lipstick and smoking and MEN IN LIPSTICK puckering their lips? Let's show some respect for our Lord and Savior who payed a very high price for this love. Our GOD is HOLY HOLY HOLY and HE commands HOLINESS.

They are like children dressing up and being silly to make us laugh. Surely the make up n cigarette are for comic effect at how stupid adults are.
