I like the idea of combing different styles, and I love this song.  But... and I hate to say it... it wasn't a great performance from either one of them. There were a lot of bum notes in there. No disrespect intended, but this was kind of stinky. Sorry.

Ok, Simon LeBon is a New Wave rock star. Luciano Pavaratti was a classical tenor.  Mixing the two is like having Penne all'arrabbiata and Bangers and Mash on the same plate. Two excellent dishes, but NOT together. FAIL

Those drawing comparisons with Bono's (not very challeging) vocal performance of "Miss Sarajevo" can't posess much musical insight. Pavarotti sings an antiphon - a totally different arrangement to Bono (you don't hear him warbelling "There is a time for Christmas trees" - it's an OPERATIC solo). It sounded great because the two voices performed differently. Unfortunately for this song, Pav and Simon were expected to synch up! Challenging (for both) and probably underrehearsed (unlike Miss S).

I dont really like the arrangments of this track. I have to say Le Bon wrote it and for that fact we have to pay the ultimate respect to him for achieving this. Pavarotti adds a dimension no 'popular music singer' could achieve by the virtue of the fact that he is master of singing and Le Bon is a popstar - just like Bono is just a poop star sorry pop star. Le Bon is much better than Bono but Pavarotti is the master.

No por ser excelentes en sus géneros deben ser perfectos en un dueto. Creo que se siente muy forzada la canción tratando de mezclar lo que no se puede mezclar.

Me parece que la única canción donde participó Pavaroti en un género que no es el de él fue con Bono en "Miss Sarajevo" pero de ahí hacia adelante absolutamente nada que ver.

No me parece tan mal, no soy una especialista en musik pero hay q tomar en cuenta q estan completamente en vivo, q ambas voces son geniales, q cantan generos muyy distintos,..ambos iconos reconocidos mundialment, x algo estan ahi.Creo q lo q paso, es q simplement estamos acostumbrados a escucharlos en perfctas interpretaciones, individualmente y al eskchar nombres tan grands, compartiendo escenario, resulto en expectativas enorms, q a la larga no resulto, x favor, no los juzguen tan duro..salu2

holy shit. :) I have to say that way to go Simon. That was terrible. Are the two singers using the same key? Well I can tell you that Luciano is using the right key but Simon has lost his key. If you compare this performance to... For example Miss Sarajevo (Luciano, Bono, The Edge and Brian Eno).. well there's a QUITE big difference. But I have to say that there' a quite big difference between U2 and Duran Duran.

I'm painting a target on my head here, but...It's not Le Bon struggling. Luci (bless 'im) is quite obviously unfamilair with the song he's been asked to sing. Blame the producers. I actually think the result is quite amazing towards the end of the song (after a ricketty start).
