The reason why my dad is against our family celebrating it, is because it holds no cultural signifigance to us, because it is not really an Australian holiday (not saying that Australians can't celebrate it). And, the reason why he thinks that is it silly (the holiday that is, not americans) is that if we were to celebrate it and it had no meaning to us, then all it would be would be a silly materialistic take on what should be a meaningful celebration. Don't get angry at me, it's my parents...

it accually is a holiday. for the dead. there are two worlds. living and dead. tthere are 2 doors. ours and theirs. the door to both worlds are hazy on october 31st so we dress up to hide ourselfs from creatures like ghosts monsters really. and they gave food to them to spare them ( thats y we get candy) haha i love halloween i live in california so LOADS of weather!! I myself have nothing against halloween, it is my DAD who is against it. I know that halloween originated from Europe, and once it held some cultural and religious meaning (not saying that it doesn't now, just saying that it is for many people a lot more materialistic now than originally).....

Also, just to clarify, that was not a dig at halloween. Pretty much every major holiday which started out as having either religious or cultural meaning has been morphed over the years to be a lot more materialistic and lacking real meaning. It's sad to see how all the big stores have turned them into just another way to make money. Anyway, let's not turn this into an argument over something this trivial. I'm sure skye wouldn't appreciate having her vid swamped with angry comments.

I live in florida, its the last week in October and we've had 90 somthing dergree weather and high humidity levels every day so far this year. =( It makes me so sad, I hate the heat.

We actually broke a recored the other day for hottest October in years......it makes many of us VERY sad and very annoyed. *sigh*
