You go downstairs in any pokecenter, and then a girl will talk to you and give you your Pal Pad. But you have to be connected to WiFi before you can recieve your friend code. If you already have it, go to your bag (Key Items) and click on Pal Pad. Thats where your FC is and where you can register other people.

But if you do have WiFi, and it's not connecting, go to your settings (on the DSi, I dont have a DS I have a DSi so im not sure if it will work on a DS) and click connection settings and then you can enter your WiFi settings there.

@PogemanFan Thanks! I have a DS Lite...I'll try some more. The only thing that wont work is that code you have to type in on Wi-Fi...I am SO SORRY for all this struggle...

And Code for the WiFi? Im not exactly sure because for my DSi I just type in the WiFi source (which would be the name of your WiFi example, mine is Dlink) and then you have to type in the password for your WiFi station. If thats not what you are talking about, then Im not realy sure about that, but thats what I can tell ya so far...

Yeah, it's that Password thingy. The WEP key. People on here on YouTube say you can make it whatever you want...

And no, the password is the password to your WiFi (Internet) Source. You cannot make it whatever you want (unless of course, you are creating a new WiFi router), I think you misunderstood what it is that people are saying about "You can type anything that you want"

You HAVE to put in the correct password to enter the WiFi network.

The thingy that you can out "whatever you want" I think is the Auto Obtain DNS. The aoDNS helps with getting hacked PKMN n' such
