ciao. I like your video.. tears on my eyes.. I love Monrovia.. my childness.. I've been in monrovia in 1976/77/78 ...I spent there my summer holidays.. my father worked for an italian company.. "bucci mazza". he built the "mansion". I remember Tolbert, Johanson.. but I was 13 years old.. we lived in bucci mazza congo town... I think it's not far from your Home.. or not?? thanks for your regards, for your video..
Mother liberia, let God bless your steps to progress and success. Sometimes pain and difficulties have a way of bringing you to your dream. To all Liberians out there, please pray for your country and the leaders as well. Love you mother LIB. Also, thanks for the video.
I worked in Monrovia, Liberia, in 1978. I installed automatic telephone exchanges in the city center and also in Sinkor, for LTC. I often wonder what happened to them, are they still working?

You know, I grew up in Sinkor and Mamba point in the '70's - this is great. Testament to the tenacity of the Liberian people. Thankyou so much for posting this.
great video, i appreciate your effort and determination...Just want to know if you're a Liberian? I've been away for over twelve years now... and seeing this video is not just bringing tears to my eyes but also joy that things are changing... It looks like you are not a Liberian; or an African so i'm assuming that you don't know the title of the second song..I had it but now i don't anymore, please if you have the track please put it on here we all will appreciate it very much....
@bigC20091 I was born in Liberia. The product of a mixed marriage. My mother is as Liberian as you get and still lives in Congotown. I got there every two years.
this is Liberia, why are we playing other people music like if we do have musics of our own..... this is sad, to see Liberians want to do things like this which is fine but, i think we get muisc that would have nice on this video.
I'm quite interested in Africa, in fact I'veen living in Kenya a couple of months. But when I search on YouTube videos about capital cities in Africa, about the urban life, it's always the same: people recording from a car or a taxi, afraid to be robberd or attacked by burglars. Showing places the more similar possible to Western Countryes, but always away from the local people...
great video, maybe next time you can capture some from hotel africa road and you can se a small minimarket my dad own that, stop by;) peace and love from sweden 1 second ago
I hope you know what you saying.... do you see Ghanians video with a Liberian music in the background??? we shouldn't be stupid now..... we got artists and musics that would go with this video.
Oh mama Liberia! All is not lost, went there in 08/09 and going again...Can not wait! Thank you for the post. There is a saying tough time does not last only tough ppl do. I believe this when it comes to the Liberian ppl.
I was not there for the war but feel the pains of the country. God Bless! Oh can anyone pls tell me the names of both songs. Thanks!
I love my country oh...Mama Liberia! Went in 08/09 I am going again ...Can not wait! Thank you for the post. All is not lost with Liberia!!!! God Bless!
Monrovia looks like it is starting to move along again, but the rest of the country is what interests me. It's not a huge country, but there are enough hiding spots out there. I wish all these countries in this region of Africa could see peace and actually work with each other. They got so much natural resources that they would be extremely rich if the whole blood diamond shit was'nt still going on.
bean420 you are right. The county call Monserrado county is the host to Monrovia Liberia's capital city. But we have 14 additional counties and Monserrado happen to be the smallest. All these other counties are not even built yet. Some of these cointies are 6 times larger than Monserrado county. Our country is a tropical one which grows almost anything. Thats why we have attracted so much investors in the agriculture sector and will boast our economy in all fifteen counties plus mining. LIBERIA!
The whole economy would have to change I think. Africa is still being exploited by certain multinationals. That should stop and we(richer societies) should help them rebuild their countries. And I don't mean helping them with money, but really learn people a tradeskill and give them knowledge. Think of all the potentially brilliant people in Africa that could do amazing things for the greater good if they only had a chance. Hope UN stays there for a while longer instead of leaving next year.
I was young man that left our beautiful country because of the war. i thank you for this footage we needed to see this.we as liberians living in america need to return at some point and help with therebuilding of our once prosperous nation. i intend on doing that myself and i really hope my fellow liberian americans can one day do the same. i feel only we can insure that the non sense of the pass never surfaces again, we owe it to the younger generation to educate them. Lone Star Forever
I was in Liberia in 1984 and 1985. I am glad the civil war is over and some normalcy has returned. Seeing this video makes me want to go back--everything seems the same--peaceful and beautiful once again. The music and scenery and the people in the video brought back so many memories. Really it made me so emotional, I was surprised after all these years to have such a strong reaction.
Wow this video makes me so homesick it reminded me of my first visit back to Liberia last year. I cant wait to go back. I seriously cant wait. There is no place like Liberia!
