The song tells about injustice in a very powerful way. But it also reminds of the power of faith and hope. It takes you to hell and points you the way to heaven. All in a touching simplicity. She is gifted.
Here we come again with - honesty. I love troubadours of the past. Like,Mary Armede, and Tracy Chapman . Z got the spirt of both !!! Let her Shine, us we support her all the way...
unbelievable song...i thought it was one of these westernized music vids... even the way she was singing it was as if "ye bole lij neger"...but wow nice words... ve become a fan!
Anyone willing to post this music with English lyrics? It is such a deep and meaningful song. If i don't see nothing in few weeks I will post my version of translation:)
@oromo99 Did you upload it, then? I'm Italian, and I don't understand Amharic... (By the way, do you know what's the title of the song at the end of this video (credits)?
I know I promised that I would post my version of the translation long ago. Be patient with me. I have three day weekend coming up. I will spend some time translating, and Post it by 5/29/11. I appreciate your interest in this all. I grew up knowing and having friends who are Italian/Ethiopians.. . in Ethiopia. .
My sister I could understand the feeling you have in your life time. But all of us passing through different problems .One thing we have to understand GOD is our side.To know more about GOD we have read to the BIBLE.My sister try to go the Church and lesson to the word of LORD and you will be find all the answer you looking for it.
is that a different song at the end when the credits roll? (if so what is it called?) sorry, i don't speak amharic (i'm an american, but i assume that's the language she's singing). thanks!
With all due respect to Her fan. This the worst music video and lyrics. Even if i am in jail or got thrown away in a desert and this the only music there, I will never listen to this music. Every one is entitled to his or her opinion and this my opinion.

haha seriously! u cant even compare to the music videos on MTV to ethio music videos! i dont know why they wont do anything to advance it i mean its really not that hard to do!
she is one of grearest female singers in all ethiopian artists despite her younghood ages also one of the best singers in ethiopian singers wish her progress in her unique art.
You are passionate for what you are doing. It is not money or fame who made you who you are now. it is the passion of music and i bet you have a good reason why you chose to sing about life. Ihave a feeling that tell me that you had some bad past..

i remember zeritu in high school ,when she sang Celin Dione's "because Uloved me" 4first time . She sounded more likeer. jecob45: You better post a good comment on zeritu if you believe that she can do more. I don't know how you think that by giving a comment which probably heart her feeling and belived that she can do more. Are you encouraging her or try to down her. Any how, leave alone my comment is mine, is not your bussiness.
wtf did you say bolshit she could be better than american singer bolshit talk the talk walk the walk bitch i hate ppl how give shit comment on you tube be part of american dream any thing is possible men
Usually, Ethiopian women singers are the who give us a kick on the brain. Starting with Aster. They have a very creative approach to our culture. Love them all!
when i hear this music i think about the life gap in this bad world i appriciate her sound and i love her style, her song is not only about love of some body but have a great message like regea music jah bless by your song
Addicted to the usual thing and when we always see or heard somthing new,we tend to oppose it till we see its success.....Zeritu is a well gifted singer....Accept it!
I think this is actually REFRESHING to see City life in Addis besides the Countryside with people ekustaing and riding horses with women in huts grinding teff. Such a nice modern approach
She's a unique cross-over musician. Her style is well-appreciated abroad whether Ethiopians appreciate her or not. She makes bold and true statements and that's one reason some people dog her. She's strong to tell the truth.
Gluch27, I think you are one of these people who dis Zeritu for fun. I can't stand that. Zeritu is fresh and new and you cannot handle that. Perhaps you should watch other videos that you do like and not comment on those you don't and then you can avoid offending people.
I like Hamelmal a lot too, but I can't understand Aster's Amharic.
Don't get me wrong ethiopialovely used to like her so much but the proplem i have with here is she don't have any respect for her show also she didn't understand what is the meaning of not show up on her concerts that all . we were expecting here in washington DC more than 2 or 3 times but she didn't show up.
I hate to see this beach b/c she is the most stupid musican i ever lisen u know why b/c u forget where u come from stupid ass hole. don't think ur are Aster or Hamelemal ok . u don't even near them, they are the most respected and lovely musican. u know how did they get this? by reapect their people & themself . zeritu i hate u so much also all ethiopian b/c ur stupid cheap beach ass hole
If Zeritu is connecting to the margin of society ..very young people who loves the western pop and R&B then she have the right to do so and In my opinion she have succeeded.
zeri you know how i love you .zeri please just to contact me try and send try to work for our country with God , zeri dont ignore me please i write to you because i love you and i hope by you still i love you dont forgot
i want your help even you dont bit me by this i was seeking my family i am from king ras tefry root i have his blessed who can get my family here no body give the resource i was try for long month zeri please help me email or telephone
zeritu how are you may be you forgot me i was in your village belaizelke school all time i was waiting you in your home way i am football player your place i loved you very much but it is eye sight now you asre very fames girl
The song is about the contrast between the poor and the rich in Ethiopia (most of the world for that matter). She is talking about how the life is not fair.
Good voice

The general theme of the song is her intrigue disbelief disappointment and frustration about life's inequity and unfairness. How some have it easy without having to work for what they have others do not have enough just to get by. Why the thief and dishonest gets to live rich lavish life while the honest and hardworking go by without able to fulfill just their simplest needs. She concludesby stating; this unjust happens for a reason that she may not understand but someonelse (God) knows why.

Zeritu, betam konjo zefen new. Awo. Fitlefit kanchi gar.

Don't get me wrong ethiopialovely used to like her so much but the proplem i have with here is she don't have any respect for her show also she didn't understand what is the meaning of not show up on her concerts that all . we were expecting here in washington DC more than 2 or 3 times but she didn't show up.
Gluch27 3 years ago
yeah but I don't think it's her fault. Blame the management, not Zeritu herself.

Yall is crazy if yall think she is good. Where is the originality? which we always seek for as true listeners of amharic music .

If Zeritu is connecting to the margin of society ..very young people who loves the western pop and R&B then she have the right to do so and In my opinion she have succeeded.

what the fuck is she singing about
h92801 3 years ago
The song is about the contrast between the poor and the rich in Ethiopia (most of the world for that matter). She is talking about how the life is not fair.
