The band's official website doesn't mention Christianity once. Regardless, the meaning of the song really depends on the person. I, for one, take it as a love song for a girl because I value my girlfriend over something I happen to not believe in. My point is that music is subjective, so don't put people down for taking the song the way they want to.

I'm writing a short story, inspired by this song, where a literal straving artist who's going nowhere in life. He's looking for inspiration. On an art website where he posts his designs up (Tattoo and Graffiti), he meets his best friends but there all over the country (to New York, Georgia, etc). One day, someone is selling a 1970s classic hippy van for $500. He buys it with all his savings, borrows money for gas and takes the roadtrip of a lifetime to bring his friends together for one summer.

The 'friends' are actually there for more connections to the readers, there's helluva lot of side stories with love and hate, dance and art, and freedoms. Like one fling is between a red head girl, a blonde guy, and a red head guy (younger brother of the main char), where the GUY is in the middle. Gay couples so far are my favorites. <3

He's a flirt and fucks around with no attachment, sharp-tongued, sarcastic, until he meets in Chicago the one person who brings him to his knees. It's hilarious how his pride is destoryed throughout the story. But other characters fall in and fall out love with each other and relationships don't always work out all the time. This song is the ending and beginning.
