  • why does this guy sound so GANGSTA?

  • Hey guys, I'm having real difficulty getting all of my clips to sync with this... I've tried setting the in points, but the clips are all different lengths of course and instead of starting the longest one, and then bringing the others in at the times they start relative to the longest, it is starting them all at once and they are out of sync (I hope that makes sense!) One of the clips won't allow me to set an in point until after around 19 seconds and the others only after 00:00:08:00...help!

  • @SILASbanduk Just to elaborate as I ran out of characters - Say you have 1 clip that is 31 minutes long, and another that is 30 minutes long; surely the one that is only 30 should start after 1 minute of the other has played through? Thanks for any help!

  • i got all kinds of RAM and astill it wont play smooth in the viewer..your tutorial was awesome and is gonna help me tremendously...but with only 8 cams of footage for a music video performance, i cant get it to play smooth enough in the viewer to edit on...i guess its my RAM??? I have shit tons of it though. i dont get it..:( Calling my Apple guy..:) any help? I'm correct right? RAM?

  • I still have a question: How do you film this? How do you film this so the audio of the first clip (the clip of which you use the audio) is exactly sync with the other clips?

  • @Fraidification When you set up the Multiclip like I did in the tutorial, you can choose which video's audio track you want to stay with. Just make sure all the cameras are synched together so that they don't go out of sync.

  • epic! I love it. great job with that tutorial!

  • Add me in your Box 4 box and I can add you tonight. Message me back to let me know.

  • Did anyone ever figure out the problem with only having 3 options in the RT menu? That's where I'm stuck, too.

This is a killer tutorial, though!

  • Still having problems. I did everything But when i go to the RT My own dont have the playback multiclip. Any suggestions?

  • mines says error out of memory ??????? :S

  • Great video but small suggestion- maybe can you mix the backing track down or out. Had to watch a few times to get everything as your voice frequently gets drowned out.

  • Nice Video but i think it need more effects.. you can get nice video effects plugins and addons from aries-films file section. Just google for Aries-Films man.. pc

  • Thanks for posting!

  • Man.... I just can't believe I've been editing so long without multiclips.... Thanks for the great tutorial !!!!!!

  • Sweet! I am going to try it.

I have a JVC HM100U.. the guy i a going to buy it from on ebay says it didnt work with this feature?

  • Excellent video. Very well done. Very clear and easily understandable. Thank you!

  • i have similar problem like fudgey...I did not face it on FCP v6.0 but I am having the problem with FCP v7.0..

    Please help!

  • Send me a private message with your problem and I'll see if I can help you.

  • when i apply the multiclip on timeline and play it ..i shud see all the four clips that i had arranged but i see a single clip(windows) and as i pause i see all of them!!!!

    thx

  • This is great! Thank you very much. VERY HELPFUL!

  • Best tutorial I've seen!

  • can't wait til your movie comes out.

  • Im having many problems, first the rt menu only has the first 3 options :-s.. secondly when ever I press play in the browser window it play the selected clip full screen so I can not select the other angles.. any ideas?

  • Are you cutting in Multiclip? What version of Final Cut Pro are you using? Try watching the demo again and following step by step.

  • What version of FCP are you using?

  • @fudgey15

I went into the tools pull down, I scrolled to, button bar, to sub menu, multiclip, this will bring gadgets over the window in the viewer. On the far right there is a gadget looks like a film strip with an arrow, click it in, so it's engaged. As well look in your RT pulldown to multiclip playback, kick that in. Play, should work now.

  • @fudgey15 Same frustrating problem and NO ONE seems to be addressing the cause of this common problem :(

  • @fudgey15 re: not being able to select angles while playing back, I could not do it after rendering the time line. Try turning off the video on the time line and you will get a message about losing render files. Continue and then turn the video back on. See if that helps.

  • Thanks, selecting where the audio comes from always confused me, I guess you have to select the option on the "Playhead sync" menu THEN select an angle.

  • TIP: Make sure your color correction is done BEFORE you run Multiclip, fixing it can be a bit of a pain after the fact.

  • Muchas gracias, brother!

  • This is an incredible feature I never knew how to utilize nor did I know it existed. Thanks so much for the video. You just made my current project so much easier.

  • Cool. My pleasure!

  • You've solved a problem that's been bugging me for the last three weeks. Hands-on demos are so much easier than swimming through the manuals.

  • Cool, glad to be of help!

  • Great tutorial.

Could you post it again without any profanity in it?

    Just kidding!

  • great tutorial - much better than the rest on the same subject posted on youtube. Many thanks.

  • Gracias, muy buena info.

  • Thank you.

  • Great Video.

  • Very helpful! Thank you!

  • Thank you for educating the world.... Much better than the old blade and drag.

  • when i import video clips from my camcorder to final cut pro 5, they have no sound! do you know if im doing somthing wrong?

  • If your camcorder has a ear phone jack and most do, hook your sound up and you should get audio as you import out to fcp. Let me know it i can help more!

  • hey just got fcp, so im new. i cant import any .avi files any suggestions?

  • Convert the files from .avi files to .mov files, then import them. Do a google search for "avi to mov" and you should be able to find some free conversion software.

  • Good job I am always trying to improve on my skill and I LOVE FCP grew up on it!!!WAY better than tape-to-tape!!!!lol

  • Thanks for posting!!

  • Is it possible to sync from an audio event? For example, multiple shots of a live musical performance where we don't have the opportunity to sync to a common visual beginning point.

  • good question. i dont know, but want to.

  • Just find the same beat in all the clips and set that as your in point. I don't use multiclips much (learning FCP in school, had tis lesson a few weeks ago), but from the one I did do, the clips had completely different start points. So I had to find the same time in all three and set my in point at that spot on all three clips. Then FCP will align the clips to fit that.

  • What works well for me is laying out the footage in the time line, finding out where each clip starts and ends in the sequence's time code. I then give an auxillairy time code based on this sequence. when creating the clip, I create it with the aux TC I gave it. Works, except when you have subclips

  • Ah thanks allot! Very informative, helped me allot indeed!

  • saved my asshole!!!! thanks budds!!

  • great work guys, more videos like this please!

  • awsome

    this has helped alot lol

  • Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

  • I've been wrestling with this all day using the dire "help" in FCPro. I wish I'd found this vid sooner, it's beautifully clear. Many thanks and congrats.

  • Thanks! Glad the video helped.

  • However, wehn I do everything as instructed, if I change angles, markers do not appear in the timeline, and the edits don't appear when I press stop. What am I doing wrong?!

  • Make sure you are playing from the timeline and not the browser. Click on the timeline and press the space bar and then start clicking your angles. Let me know how it works.

  • Great tutorial !! Thanks.

I must say that the movie in the sample could've used better script writers, yikes. :-(

  • this tutorial is awsome! By the way where can i get that song! I love it!

  • Thanks, this was extreamly helpful!! Keep up the good work!!

  • great tutorial, but what if my camera angles are broken down into 15 minute segments? i can't name them each a different angle if they're the same. thanks.

  • I'm not sure I understand your question. You can make multiclips out of any footage. But the best way to use it is if everything is synched by timecode or in/out points.

  • good shit

  • You rule bro...

  • Dude this Tutorial is Freakin awesome

    thanks alot man

  • hey looked great...i had a questiong does anybody konw how to synk up video??? i know the inpoints but i have trouble pressing record at the same time with my buddy on two different cameras...

  • clap board

  • PART ONE: If you are having trouble syncing your footage, I suggest you find a point that is exactly the same in all of your footage (based on a sound or an action). Make that point an in point on all the clips. Do the math on how far back your in point needs to go so you aren't trimming out any footage you want to use.

  • you just saved me hours of reading the damn manual..thank you so much!

  • Top Notch!!! Thanx m8

  • great video

  • Oh man! I have been trying to figure out this mulit clip thing for 4 days now! Im just the last 3 videos I have watched from you you have covering everything I have been trying to fuigre out! Thank you so much you have help me out more then you could ever know!
