  • did you hooc the smoke system to the decoder?

  • Are these modifications something you do commerically or just for fun?

  • Wonderful job...thanks for uploading

  • How do you control all the decoders on the same adress without the loco doing 3 things at once, or do you just control them all individually? Just wondering.

  • I dont like the numerous lights, i'd just want the 3 across the top of the buffers. And yes your right... That whistle is terrible lol I've seen Tangmere 34067 on numerous occaisions and the whistle of the spam can (as all the locos of that class were affectionatly known) always sounds like your hearing it from within a tunnel. Even when it is out in the open the Bullied pacifics have a whistle that is very deep and quite a lot of shall we say 'bass'

  • Hi yes I did, I even built the wings onto the working lights. It actually came up very nice and I add some un-prototypical lights which light up the running gear as per customers request. He had seen a Tornado I did with all the running gear lit and wanted it on the duchess. My 00 layout has being fully pulled apart, new editions to the family and another on the way. Currently looking for a bigger house. Thanks for the interest and comments. Cheers

  • Two things. Firstly have you done your DCC magic on a Dutchess/Princess Coronation class in the later streamlined casing. Secondly do you have a model railway for all your DCC trains?

  • is it me or deos it sound like it has 6 cilinder

  • Hi Space is limited. I would put the loksound in the loco. Best doing it all in one hit. Send me your email address via messages and I will send you a couple of photos. I have just finished another one which has far more lighting, lit gauges etc.

  • Can you say how you fitted all of the decoders in the loco, space is very limited. I am just about to fit a Howes (Loksound) sound chip to my West Country and think the only place for the chip and speaker is in the tender. I would also like to fit smoke and maybe lights later. Have you published a 'how I did it' description anywhere?

  • i feel dumb for asking, but will these run on HO track?

  • @cubspiano Not at all, plenty of people ask that question and the answer is "yes" Cheers

  • @Irish982 Thank you :D I only ask, because my Father bought me a Thomas some years back, it was from the UK and it had a hard time on American HO track. The wheelbase was just a tad too narrow. BTW, great vid and great loco! keep them coming!

  • The loco is a christmas tree! Nice job!

  • @3801Catcher Hi Cheers and thanks for that, yes it is...I have just about finished Tornado which has 20 functions for lighting so twice as much as this one. All the lighting is prototypical as per the real loco. Thanks for looking

  • id love it if there was working cylinder cocks XD

  • @EastMidlandsSteam Agree so would I cheers

  • LOL I love it when the hand of god comes down to move the tender...

  • @clusterfak Ahh yes it was the "hand of God" or my terrible camera work. If you like this I will be posting "Tornado" with 22 independent lighting functions twice as much as this one and far more interesting. Cheers

  • How heavily modified is this loco?

    Cheers

    J

  • @Firrboxfryup Hi

    Very!

It is one of the most modified loco's I have done. Only 3 beat it Tornado and 2 Australian locos. 90% of modifications are totally hidden. The tender was easy and but the hardest part was drilling 0.3mm holes to run optic fibre in for the lights. I think it started out as a DC loco. To look at it the only mods you would see is the coal load and crew. Thanks for looking.

  • the name of the loco is sir arnchibald sinclair

  • The lights are superb - How did you fit these and connect it up to the decoder?

  • Thanks, glad to see you liked it. I have had a fair few private messages telling me how un-prototypical they are. I used 3 decoders, 2 function only decoders and a loksound 3.5 giving me 12 lighting functions. It was a pain to wire but not as near as hard as my current one Tornado with 20+ lighting functions. The tender has 8 independent lighting functions by itself. I will post it in a couple of months. Thanks for excellent "Snow" video, with a Southern loco running during the day with lights.

  • Hi

I used optic fibre and SMD LED's for the lighting. Their are 3 decoders on this loco which control the lighting. It was tricky drilling the holes for the fibre as they are only 0.4mm in diamater and some are 30mm long. It was a slow process as the biggest problem was stopping the drill wandering. Not so bad in plastic but a nightmare in the "crap" alloy manufacturers use. Connection was just allocation of LEDs to wiring with the blue looping in and out from each. Thanks for the interest.

  • hi

i think u vidios are brilliant 5* the Smoke, sound and lights really bring the train to life and i bet it looks great on a layout.

1 thing i'm going to correct u on is that 2ICI59 is not a west country is a battle of britian class later named Sir Archibald Sinclair.

  • Hi

I did thanks got some good footage for the future. What I did find out is the light housing is not black but a dark grey. Cheers

  • nice one

    search for tangmere on youtube.

  • Hi

Thanks for your interest. I used 2 decoders just for the lights and fibre. It was a real pain. As to the flickering this was done through CV's. Sorry I am just flat at at the moment and I have knocked back every request to build this loco, I just don't have the time. I don't even like the WC class I did it for a bit of fun. Thanks for the interest.

  • Ok then are u selling anything else?

  • Hi

I will be putting the new Hornby 4MT and a Bachmannn Evening Star up soon....ish on ebay, I will let you know.

  • 5 * Very Very Impressive how did you manage to get all those lights working? How do you get the lights to flicker? Do you do commissions? That is so good, I have never seen anything like that before.

  • Great job you have done again, not too sure about the smoke, but would look better on track with loco moving

  • Great 5*

  • Thanks glad you liked it. I think it is time for a little compromise here. The whistle does match the loco it was taken from a B+W clip post WW2 when most locos had being run totally into the ground. I think time to lose that flogged out whistle and get a better one from a WC.

    Cheers

  • Fantastic work yet again! Agree the whistle doesnt sound too authentic having had a small amount of involvement with Wadebridge (unrebuilt West Country class).

  • Thanks, agree with you totally on the whistle, not happy at all, but I did get this whistle sound from a clip of a WC. I would prefer to put a BR or chime whistle on.

    Thanks for looking.

  • Brillinat the lights are fantastic but the whistle is a bit to be deisred
