@timothythamen They were refurbished. The black colour is actually a sticker and not paint. Since all C151s are refurbished, C651 is currently the only NSL-EWL train with a white body.
@giggslimws Neither did I. The Branch Line consists of Jurong East, Bukit Batok, Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang. These 4 stations have been merged with the North South Line.
@videopost987 Not necessarily. For example, "Next station, Clementi." is announced in English only. When the train is approaching an interchange, "Passengers who are continuing their journey towards...........please crossover to platform...on the right/left." is announced in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil.
@citytransportinfo it's really bad now. like during non-rush hours the people on the train would be double of this, but not as bad as japan or china though.
You are right that time you record it there was only one type C151 then in 1994 C651 arrived to Singapore from siemens (looked similar to C151) then when it came to 2000 C751B was delivered to singapore from Kawasaki and Nippon sharyo and now Kawasaki built a new type of train for the Singapore subway the C151A
Additional information: At the time of filming there was only one type of train: The C151 trains. They have all been refurbished and now features a black-red-grey livery on the outside.
youtu.be/ z8r9jgbkank
Here's a video of one in service, at the end of the video it terminates at Jurong East Interchange too. Announcements now are made only in English on this line.
Jurong East now has a new island platform and track to increase the lines' frequency (Jurong East Modification Project)
Never expect a YouTube channel focusing on transport in London could feature my country's MRT system from an era long gone! Thanks for uploading this; this brings back memories as well as refreshing my memories on how our MRT system used to be run. I still remember those door chimes they used to use - that unfortunately got replaced with a overcomplicated announcement and buzzer, though sometimes they still use the chime, which I very much prefer.
@eXAKR Hi there, I am a citizen of planet earth who just happens to live in London. I also have films from Canada, Australia, America and Europe. Not just London!
@citytransportinfo These trains have been refurbished and the station codes have been changed. The announcement voice has changed.Jurong east station code is EW24 and NS1
there were probably no c651s or c751bs at that time

@ All those who have questions about the rolling stock: Read this and stop commenting about it once and for all.
In this video, only unrefurbished C151s are seen. C651s only came in 1994 a few years after this video was filmed.

wow.. can't believe that the MRT of SG is just the same as the one in Japan when it first opened.. wow..
well, reason: I was born in 1996... din't really know what the MRT is until like about 2001, when my "mind started remembering things clearly"..
mm.. just wanna ask..
besides this, do you have anymore old videos of Singapore in the 90s, particularly the then-undeveloped Jurong West?
mm.. if possible, do upload them onto youtube yeah.. pls...
thx ;]

@citytransportinfo The Sentosa Monorail's gone too, replaced by the air-conditioned Sentosa Express. The route is changed too.
