though most of Wushu's moves are derived from Shaolin Kung Fu, I still prefer Shaolin, cuz Shaolin moves are more like for combat, whereas those of Wushu are more for performance. Wushu is an aesthetic art, not martial art any more =.=

Traditionally Shaolin does not have belts or gradings. Some school have introduced their own systems because some people like a belt colour to make them feel like they have accomplished something.

The shaolin Monks all wear black belts, not because they are a 'black belt'.

ill take on a master anytime i have learned karate tiqwando shaolin and 64 style i have also mastered the viper style (tight situations only)

i also kno the iron palm and have almost masterd using it along with my karate just the hard part is finding where to put it in...maybe after the third kick... hmm yes that'll work

They use belts also so the person can feel their breathing for tan-jeon (there are other ways to spell tan-jeon so no one reply saying its wrong yada-yada) :P

I do Shaolin Wu-Shu and no Gold, Gold & white is beginner, Green, Green & White , Blue, Blue & White is intermediate level, Red, Red & White, Brown, Brown & White and Black Belt are advance

i am getting my black belt now too i have alot to do to get there though and it takes strength discipline and focus

shaolin kungfu only has 3 sashes yellow red and black thats all, no mix belts thats what real shaolin school uses

if you are in the US and live on the east coast, then the belt system goes as follows:

White,Yellow,Gold,Orange,Green­,Blue,Purple,Red,brown,black or (#1-10)

Their are black belts that can't fight worth shit. And their are purple or brown belts that can cream the floor with most anyone. It depends, some people are naturally inclined to be fighters. I am.

wushu is learned b/c of interest, its beauty, or for training the body. like i said i think skill more important than belt. About fighting ... dont think wushu trains u to fight but if a pro-athlete were to hit you with a stick it would hurt.... a lot
