@Jacobbz206 With the subs wired at 1.3ohm before rise, I doubt they saw much over 1000 watts. Now when I had the 1500D running .5ohm on the 21" Autotek sub, and pushing it real hard, I bet I got close to 2k out of it.
@Jacobbz206 Yeah, I really regret selling it a year ago. I was able to get a 151 outlaw out of it with the 1500D running .5ohm(D1 coils on the sub). It was a burp box though, peaked at 57hz.
It'd be pretty nice. I imagine that 500 watts each is all you'd need in a normal ported alignment, so the overhead you have is good. 4.5-5ft^ each is all they need.
looks like they could handle more but could be wrong... how do you like these thngs btw? i know theyre cheap but so i was thinking about picking 1 up .. .miss my 18" mt's so i thought i might get one... how do they sound on about 29 -36 hertz.... im lookin for the sub that loves lows
These definitely pound the lows, if that's what you're looking for.
Power wise, they could have handled probably 500-600 each in a ported enclosure. They won't match your MT's, which are absolute monsters. But if you're looking for something that can get loud off of just a few hundred watts, and sound great doing it, then these are where it's at, especially for the price.
I haven't tried the new MJ-18M's, but they're supposed to be all-around better than the originals that I had.
I loved them...can not be beat for the price. You're not going to break any spl records or have 3" or excursion. But they get decently loud and sound very good doing it.
14ft^3 tuned to 33hz. I believe the dimensions are 56"wide x 34"tall x 18.75" deep. I'm not really enjoying having no vision out of the back of my truck, so I might go back to the dual setup but go with about 5.5ft^3 each to bring more lowend out.
I did a 147.0 with a 55hz burp. I can probably do a 150 if I build a spl oriented box, but the current one has no peak in it at all. The box is literally +-1db from 35-70hz. Tuning to 45hz will give me an extra 4db at 55hz, which is where I'm peaking at right now.
But I'm not really worried about being loud at one frequency, just want to be loud across the whole range. :D
Nice work, and I have been looking at these subs due to the flat response curve. Are you maxing them out at all? I mean, seems like they could take more than your 1500D.
I can if I push them REALLY hard, with a decent amount of distortion. They could probably take a solid 2kw of clean power. But you might want to wait and get the new 18's that Mach 5 is coming out with soon...better than the MJ-18 in every aspect.
you think i can give them 1000 rms the newer ones are rated at 800w rms?
ChevyBass4 8 months ago
these could def use more power but the numbers you get are great with only a SAZ-1500d(prob close to 1800+rms easily, maybe even 2k.)

@RyanM923 yeah, but your MJ's are pretty beastly also, some more power to them and will be slammin hard!

i wonder how 4 of these in a ported box tuned to about 33 hz would sound on about 2800 watts rms..

Also, keep the box around 5-5.5ft^3 tuned in the 30-33hz area.
RyanM923 2 years ago
hmm alright sounds good....yea those mt's i had were insane... i should have just kept them.. oh well... it happens...
rickymac21 2 years ago
Man, those are flexing the hell out of your car and they look like they're only getting half the RMS they could handle.
dnick454 2 years ago
Yeah, I could have given them twice as much power pretty easily. I really liked the subs, wish I never sold them.
RyanM923 2 years ago
hey nice subs. what do you think of the cerwin vega vmax subs, i might be getting them soon
sixerstang 3 years ago
They're alright. Depending on how much you're paying, you can probably get something better for the same price...

170 each at my local shop

You can get one of these straight from Mach 5 for that price :D

Was the wall sealed off from the back of the cabin?
Where was the port?
I'm thinking about throwing 3, maybe 4 in my Vehicle.
The two I have now sound great, but you get used to it after awhile.
DaTwinkie405 3 years ago
It wasn't completely sealed off, just <.5" all the way around to make it look nice instead of just a box sitting in the back.
I loved the subs, and wish I would have kept them to throw a pair in my '88 civic hatchback...
RyanM923 3 years ago
My current plan is two in a wall at 30hz with 9 cubes a sub.
Very large, I know, but this leaves me the ability to drop in some upper brand subs, or rip the baffle off and put 4 in.
DaTwinkie405 3 years ago
hey sick set up can you plz message me the name of the first song
THANKS A LOT!!! plz lol

heh 3 18's .. how big is that box?
WillyWonkaIsSatanic 3 years ago
Thankfully it didn't have to be that big since the MJ's like smaller ported boxes...14ft^3 for all three, after all displacement.
RyanM923 3 years ago
another question .. since its ported whats it tuned to?
WillyWonkaIsSatanic 3 years ago
sorry disreguard that last comment i wasnt reading >.>
