i'm thai, i listened to this chinese traditional "song rythms" in my thailand, i cannot understand any chinese words, but i listen to voices and lyrics of foreign songs chinese or european. but may i ask chinese why today you tend to lose your own beautiful traditional songs, modern pop C is nothing. in fact your ancient traditional chinese lyrics are the most beautiful and can attract foreigners like me and make all chinese great culture.

i agree, the modern chinese music scene is disastrous - sad, but true. and there is nothing much we can do about it. i wasn't even born when this duet was first sung... in fact i should be among the era of the "modern pop C" you talk about, but i still find that the greatest beauty of music still comes from these songs of the pre-2000s. i think we can only hope these songs do not die out, for it will represent a great loss for our music culture.

With today's new breed of singers singing with their cutesy facades, especially in Asia; it makes the entertainment scene very depressing, especially in HK. Nowhere are their voices strong enough to draw fans away from the veteran singers such as George and Sally here. That's why I only look for songs that date back to the 80s and 90s for my collection, especially love songs. I love it when the singer(s) has passion and feelings within the song and lyrics.

This is one of those classical love songs that really has any meaning or substance, compared to the new modern love songs, which is pale compared to this. Definitely I would recommend trying to sing this duet in front of the guests at the wedding reception. When I first heard this song at my cousin's wedding, I really enjoyed it and still do today.
