Yeah, if I close my eyes and put this on while shopping on Amazon, it takes me right back to that marvelous toy department this summer...geek heaven. Expensive geek heaven.
despite of the awesome catchy song and hours of browsing in the stores they're just a bit overpriced imo :p (but the outlet in Kawasaki has great offers though)
I've bought s**t load of stuff when I've been there.... not sure if I'm bragging or complaining. :)
I can get the translation for this song through family or friends but don't want to appear to be nuts. Is there an on-line translation to this song anywhere?
I don't know when the next time will come for me to be there. And I wiill hop shopping there. People over there in Yodobashi camera very polite. They used to help a lot. Communication is bit problematic. But It's Okay.
It has Jesus in the song, but it's an American Civil War song, about freeing the slaves. It's how Jesus died to make us holy, while we should die (or live, depending on the version you listen to) to make them free.
Basically, why we (The Union side) are fighting in that war.
What it's doing as a Japanese electronics store's theme, I have no idea.
Every time I have been to the Umeda/Osaka store they have had this. In multiple languages. Have not been there since 2007. Going back in Sept. Do they not play this anymore?
LoL.. I used to hang out at Yodobashi Umeda in Osaka..and this song (Battle Hymn of the Republic) would play over and over in a loop ! It got so fatiguing after a while.
Brings back memories of my visit to the Akihabara store looking at all the brand new XBOX 360 games...all shoved in a back corner behind the PS2 stuff. ;)
This is the first time I've heard the song clearly enough to understand the words. Thank you.

@MrChadbag Went there last month; they still play it but not in multiple languages anymore. Only the store announcements are mult-lingual now.
