@bigncordfed yeah, far right doesnt seem nearly as enthusiastic as front left does. reminds me of the kids at school, they all just giggle and laugh when they mess up... so unprofessional
Where is this dance from? What ethnic group does it? "African Dance" is way too general. AFRICA is a continent!! That's like saying European dance...nobody would ever do that so why do we?
@candybarrino@kikibaker101 I have to disagree with both of you....when speaking of a style....in many parts of the world they will refer to the country or continent....and being that this vid is for black history month and many african americans (myself inculded) do not know a country of origin the style will often draw from many ethnic groups. I am an American currently living in Mongolia and they often say Latin American dance and it truly is a mix of many different LA ethnic styles.
its funny how some Africans can be so arrogant when others try to embrace African culture.. HAha yet they get offensive when others put down African culture. Like I said SOME, because every village has it's own idiot. Matter of fact I think that feeling is universal amongst most afro-people of color. Some just have a inferior complex. It may apply to others but I'm speaking about people I am familiar with.
wich part of africa is this its nice.....you should try dancing like the ethiopians you can find a good song called [beautiful ethiopia] with different dances
Thank you for keeping our various forms african dance alive. Enthic groups have taken from traditional African dances and have used them throughout centuries without given credit. This goes from ballet,Irish jig to what we call latin dance. These dances are a reminder of what my ancestors may have done in celebration thousands of years ago. So thank you for keeping our history alive and so valued.
That's true! thanx 4 keepin the african moves alive. Im african that's not how exact in my country they dance if U want U can check out Rwandan traditional dance U gonna like it. but Im proud of what those sistas did.Yeah that's a work of ancestors and Europeans borowed them and called theirs.
fdmo3 Africa is a big continent. With your parents coming from Nigeria, you should know that there are many different dances from each town, city and village. Americans study the more classical dances of Africa. We want to learn the dances that our ancestors probably danced for harvest, fertility, marriage, rights of passage etc. This dance looks Ghanain. Wow! It takes an Afri American to school you on traditional dances of Africa. You should do some research, you've been in Texas too long.
Thank you for posting this.I appreciate the fact that you have alot of variation in the moves, which is what I was looking for on youtube. I noticed this was a "demo". Good for you, for posting the basics. Perhaps the negative postings are expecting you girls to dance like the "lucy gomez" video. Keep it up!
We used this song a few years ago, can someone tell me the name of this song that is playing.
