But my question was: "how do you steal [a vote count] you are always ahead in?" I'm not sure what "Hitler was elected..." is suppose to mean. Is that such a clever riposte' that a normal person like I can not even understand the brilliance of it?

Strictly speaking Hitler was NOT elected to power. His Chancellorship was an appointment given to him by President Hindenburg at a time his Nazi Party at best held only 44% of the Reichstag. It was only through the cooperation of parties (who either foolishly though they could use Hitler to their ends or were forced into agreement) that allowed the Enabling Act that effectively combined the legislative and executive branches.
