Honestly this game is in my top 3 best castlevania games of all time, it's between this and Castlevania 3 for the NES and Rondo of Blood for the PC engine and PSP.
I'm not a big fan of the metroidvania formula.
I think that this game better then Super Castlevania for the SNES
worst castlevania ever...without a Belmont classic castlevania style sucks, horrible graphics, bad plot, the stages were boring... music....well only one or two songs are good
@geno344 I'm aware of it, even did a video on that. However what I meant in this video was it was the only CV game *made* for a sega console, not ported from another console
Call me crazy, but the game actually looks better than Super Castlevania IV, going by this video. I haven't played Bloodlines though. The animations look smoother, and the gameplay appears to be faster than the Super NES Castlevania game everyone compares it too. Maybe the graphics themselves might be better as well. Bloodlines looks a LOT harder though! Great job with the commentary. You cuss the same way I do, lol
This game is actually the reason I caved in earlier today and downloaded a Genesis emulator(I've previously said that emulators are for people willing to comprimise, so I feel kinda dirty), and I gotta say, this might just be my favorite Castlevania game, right up there with SotN, frustrating save system aside. The only problem now is that I don't know how to use Eric's super-jump and Morris' whip grapple.
Okay, so I've been playing this game some more, and I've gotten used to the save system, and learned how to use Eric's super-jump(I never use John Morris, so his grapple is inconsequental). I can now say that I only have one problem with this game: limited continues. This wouldn't be so bad, but whenever I beat a stage and quit, the lives I had carry over. I'm on stage 3, and only have 7 lives left. A game with this calibur of difficulty shouldn't have limited continues. Besides that, it's great
I love this version of Castlevania. The only problem I have is the 4th stage Germany. Its mabey the worst level in any Castlevania game. With all the machines and Gear boss. I dont know dosent seem to fit the theme. But still a cool game.
ohh one more thing, i loved like that last lvl, its like boss rush =D medusa, death (obviously XD) but death was like a boss rush of his own, with his card, that was an awesome thing they put in, i loved it
ooo i usedto have this, i loved playng as eric, his spear completely defended if u sin it,nothing can get to u, and it has real good reach. the later levels r kindof hard, it like random giant suits of armor comming from front and behind, but they died in one hit which made up fior them being uber fast
dude wtf r u thinkin dats da worst graphics eva dude so dont even think dat this game is cool or fun who eva think dat this game is fun is a true dum ass thank u sencerly trey peace bitch
Don't make the mistake of assuming that these dumb-ass graphics whores are all younger people. XD There are plently of stupid-ass bastards who are over 18, you know. I'm betting "BabyTeeze23" up there listens to shitty music and plays nothing but Madden and Halo and Gears of War, though.
The SNES generally had superior graphics, but I remember looking at this game, among others, in magazines and hoping it would find its way to the other console. It didn't, but things worked out pretty well via emulation and, later on, all the current virtual console options. Nice one indeed.
i remember being little and having gensiclt and thinking i was playing the snes lmao it was funny because a lot of the older emulators we're made by the same person lol kinda funny who you feel stupid for thinking things when you were little lol
Do you mean Genecyst? That was made by the same guy that did NESticle, which were the best genesis and nes emulators of their day. I think he also did a CPS1 emulator
Hey NecroVMX. Its me agian. I have a quick request for you if your not too busy. Do you think you can do a commentary on Ninja Gaiden for the Sega Genesis? The only thing I'm gonna tell you about it is that its akward to move. Also, Castlevania: Bloodlines rules!
Rocket Knight Adventures was another Konami game for Genesis with awesome graphics. Even had that mirror effect in one stage. Sonic 3 & Knuckles also rocked your face with good graphics.
But there was a port/remake of SotN on the Saturn, only in Japan, where Maria Renard was playable.
Anyway, thank you. Now every request I ever made of you is done!
When mentioning the other planned Castlevania games on Sega consoles, I noticed that you forgot to mention the Saturn version of SotN (NitM). Are you planning on including footage of it?
I always felt that the Genesis and the SNES really compliment each other well. You've got the SNES for good looking games especially with RPGs and platformers and the Genesis for extremely fast action and arcade games.
Konami had some of the best looking games on the Genesis no doubt. Rocket Knight Adventures is another one. They really knew how to make the most of the limited color palette.
Other lookers are Ranger X and a few MUSHA levels. Some Genesis games have sweet parallax effects.

No, A twelve year old would have the brains to know that those were good graphics back then. I'd say 8.

Actually Altered Beast looked great for it's time. You know what they say, graphics don't make the game.

true that, lol. but i wont lie. i have sort of a bias towards altered beast. i didnt like playing the game in general.
