  • Oh hey! Have you heard the talk about - fast abs magic (search on google)? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my cooworker got hot Six pack abs and lost lots of belly fat with it.

  • I started ESE to get out of the 200s. if I had known about the program a year ago, I would have been at my goal weight now! This program has helped me control my eating habits, I can't overeat even if I wanted to! I lose weight without obsessing and it's like fat is melting. I haven't started resistance training so just imagine what will happen when I do. Thank you, thank you. If you haven't struggled long and hard then you don't understand how life changing this program is!

  • brad, I have got one question, is it beneficial to lift weights on an empty stomach?

  • Hello! Have you ever tried - fast abs magic (do a search on google)? Ive heard some unbelivable things about it and my auntie got hot 6 pack abs and lost a ton of weight with it.

  • you should never fast, bad metabolism + your protein in your body is suffering

You such at doing this sort of videos!

  • this fasting stuff still sounds kinda crazy,..im an athlete,..and plan to be a fitness model,..this fasting idea scares me,..how can you reach a great looking, toned, sculpted physique when you are missing out on energy??

  • What type of physical exercise does ESE consist of? Is this book strictly about eating??? my fitnesss goals are simply to tone, gain muscle and loose belly fat. Im torn between purchasing ESE and this other e fitness book called VISUAL Impact by rusty moore.

  • I think this guy knows what he's talking about, this is basically what I've felt all along but because of indoctrinated conditioning about metabolism and "starvation mode" I flip flopped back and forth between eating consistantly (even tho most times im not even hungry) and doing what I feel my body likes best, to take breaks from eating. It's nice to know there are other people out there who feel the same way and have the health to back it up.

  • You are a genious i will starve myself!

  • But I also want to say. That if you look at some of the best diet plans in the U.S. None of them ever say to not eat for a day. If you buy a Bowflex. They also send you a detailed diet plan. If you buy P90x. They send you a nutrition guide to follow. There is a reason for that. If you were to ask some of the more popular nutritionist and fitness trainers. I would imagine they would be highly against not eating for any period. I have lost 39 pounds by eating right everyday. No skipping meals.

  • This goes against everything that I have ever learned in weight lose. Fasting or starving is never good for the body. Because it is possible the body gets into a condition that it thinks it is not going to get enough food. Metabolism slows down. So when you start eating again. Because your metabolism has slowed down from not not eating. It makes you actually gain weight because your metabolism is so slow that your body cannot burn the calories. Seems like this would hurt more then help.

  • @estrangeddimensions That's a failed myth. Look up studies on it, there's not a single one saying that that's true.

  • @brbafkgtg That is not a myth. That has been the popular opinion for as long as I remember. Not eating for extended periods will in fact slow your metabolism. But I have done some research on this subject and my opinion has slightly changed. Not eating for 24 hours does not send a body into starvation. Not eating for 24 hours will not slow your metabolism. But literally no more then that. Not eating for one day will not harm the body that much as long as you are drinking plenty of water.

  • @estrangeddimensions lolwut. That was what I said. You can go for about 48 hours before the metabolism changes. 24 hours is perfect for the hunger though. Thing about Eat Stop Eat is that you never slow your eating down for extended periods of time. You pretty much have a refeed 5 times a week.

  • Prophets Of Allah did this method, fasting for the rewards of Allah is better than fasting to lose weight.

  • were you on always sunny?

  • This is bullshit! Eat and exercise people, this moron is trying to kill people.

  • @ThaGenius101 And how exactly can one die by not eating for 24hrs?

  • @ThaGenius101 And how exactly can one die by not eating for 24hrs? BTW, Genius level IQ's are far above 101.

  • Hey Brad,

How do you feel about overweight people fasting for three or so days at a time until they reach their "average" body fat percentages? I feel like fasting a few days at a time is encouraging to people that are new to fasting because they can see a very noticeable difference in two or so weeks, which can keep someone excited about a fasting lifestyle. This is also assuming that fasting doesn't interfere with their social life. Not everyone understands/ has accepted the benefits of fasti

  • The guy wants to lure people in to giving him money!

This is a marketing program, designed to get money out of fools pockets

  • I love the way people suggest there is a better way than simply the God diet,. Eating and drinking unrefined foods and drinks, as they form in nature.

  • @warriorprince1010 actually alternate fasting is the more natural way of eating, why do you think our body has learnt to store fat so efficiently?because our ancestors didn't always have food so our body evolved to store as much as possible for starvation times.

  • @geiuy Our bodies can store food because God made it that way, but no we need to eat and drink daily to work at our bet. So God created foods all over the place. Creation make more sense, hence why science supports it.

  • @warriorprince1010 "Our bodies can store food because God made it that way"?,"science supports creation"?ah ah ah,your so funny.

  • @warriorprince1010 if it was for u christians we'd still be living in caves and science would be prohibited.when it comes to science issues u christians should keep your opinions for yourselves.out of curiosity, why did u choose jesus when u had so many other options like horus, krishna, mythra, gabriel's revelation?they existed thousands of years before christ,u should at least give them a try

  • @geiuy Science is the study of Gods work, so Christians love science. As science supports the bible and magnifies God then Christians will always be at one with science.

  • @warriorprince1010 ah aha h your so funny lol,u know that the catholic church has always obstructed science research right?i bet u don't even know who horus, krishna, mythra, gabriel's revelation are, google them,do some research on them and you are sincere with yourself u would no longer be so sure about your christ

  • @geiuy The catholic church are not Christians they are Christendom, apostates, like protestants.

  • in other words science! good stuff everytime i refer to health i always go back to ancesters because they were legit natrual everything from earth... you never heard of a fat cave man, they were all jackedd.. because hard labor and earth made resources

  • @midi5505 yes you can drink tea during a fast AS LONG as it's zero calories. Here's a list of zero-calorie beverages you can consume during a fast: water, tea, black coffee, diet sodas. You can sweeten the tea or coffee with an artificial sweetener (such as Splenda or Equal) since most of them are zero calories.

  • @LeonardoNasir .....diet sodas? that's very harmful information to be giving out. Please everybody research artificial sweeteners before choosing to ingest them. Thanks! Peace.

  • and i was reading that smh terrible info lol (aspartame!) just because it says zero doesn't mean its a healthy alternative

  • I recently started fasting but I am doing it every day for periods of 16 to 20 hours. And it feels great.

  • Maybe I'm too much of a wuss, but I couldn't hack a fast of any kind. My stomach would be grumbling, acids churning about, etc. In another words, I would be miserable.

  • @sdnm86 grind through it a couple of times and it suddenly becomes a lot easier from then on. i'm currently eating only a larger-than-usual lunch most days and i can now work out in the evenings and still not feel hungry at bedtime.

  • Muscles are made of protein yes alot of water to but wont the body eat away on the muscleprotein? also the brain uses 120 gr of carbs a day thats only your brain what about the rest of the body wont not eating carbs have a negative effect on the muscles when they have no energy comming from the carbs? wont they become smaler when they get no energy? Please answer i would like to try it but i doubt it will work without muscleloss. Also the atkins diet has shown to make the brain smaler=No carbs

  • @SuperMemrme the idea is your body will use bodyfat reserves to compensate for the lack of carb intake. if you think about, fasting for 24 hours only means skipping just two meals in a row. to make it easier, i set my alarm to wake up too late to eat breakfast before work then eat a slightly bigger lunch so i'm not hungry at dinner time. after that try keeping yourself busy until bedtime so you don't think of food. :)

  • @SuperMemrme

your body can convert up to 200 grams of carbs a day from fat cells. yes your muscles get a little flat on the fasting days but on the normal days your so much more sensitive to the carbs that you blow up and look even bigger than normal.

  • @FilthyRichLikeMe

Blow up as in mucles only....specially if ur lifting

  • I fast 2 days for 21 hours each then have 1 normal day. On that day I lift weights full body. I did this for a year and lost 78 lbs and went from 30% body fat to 10% I almost have 6 abs now! maybe b4 summer.. I have large muscles still. I never seemed to lose any muscle mass only got a little flat during the fast days..but if u eat healthy whole foods on the normal days ur muscles swell with blood and u look even larger then normal. I never noticed the so called starvation mode ppl talk about.

  • @FilthyRichLikeMe thanks for the answer!

  • Brad ..can we Drink tea during this 24hr fast?

  • @midi5505 you can drink anything that has zero calories however I just finished fasting on and off for a year and I have come to learn its much easyer with just plain water because when you drink stuff with flavor it just makes you more hungry and with water after a while the hunger just vanishes :)

  • @FilthyRichLikeMe

Thanks for the advice!!...and Congratulations on your jouney to rippedville, I wish you all the best..

  • thanks, it is the first time i am hearing of this, and i am starting it now

because i can do without food till 4 then just break all cupboards hunting for chocolates and waffels

i have fasted before 5days pure water fast, and 7days MC but ow i canot move a day

    though i have lost 11kg in the past 4months, i run minimum 7km 4-6days a week

still got 15kg to loose am gona try this

    Thanks so much.

  • Hey I was just wondering, after we finish fasting, do we go back to the normal eating routine? Like, 3 meals or 5-6 small meals a day if you do the 24hour fast? Or would there be a limited time, like an eating window?

Also, I'm planning to fast for 2-3 days a week to lose weight, but after I reach that weight, do I go back to eating normally again? Or can I cut the fast to once a week?

  • I have just started the eat stop eat, and I cannot believe how easy it is to stick too. I fast from 4:00pm-4:00pm and it is very east to stick too. Thanks, I am soooo happy I found this program!

  • the everyday person struggles with eating 3 meals a day ... or the smarter option of 6 small nutritious meals per day ... no doubt this method has it's benefits ... however this concept appears to be a massive struggle for the mind ... & if the mind struggles with 6 small meals per day how can anyone seriously expect to win the battle of no food for 20 hours from a longer term perspective?? simply bizarre and will make the author a very rich man :)

  • Brad Pilon, fasting in style!

  • My great grandmother always fasted a day a week. She did that for a long time and she lived to the ripe age of 100. She was always working in her garden, she ate what she wanted, and was always slim and healthy. She listened to her body ever since she was a child and back then it was natural to fast at least a day a week. Now people have forgotten that.

  • woah im not aware that im actually doing this... Im not on a diet but sometimes i forgot to eat and i just eat the next day because my stomach is growling lol...

  • I've tried intermittent fasting with some success. However, I found something that seems to work better for me. Simply fasting every single day for a shorter duration. Basically I simply insure there is 16 hour minimum everyday where I consume no calories. Basically you either skip breakfast and wait until 2pm to eat and cut off all food no later than 10pm Or skip dinner your choice. I tried this after learning Walter Breuning (oldest man 113) has done this for 30 plus years.

  • I fast every other day. It is hard at times.. But OMG im lovin the results. Hey some boob dr trying to selling some laser treatment told me "I don't think that fasting is really going to work. Fasting shuts down your metabolism. Zerona is not really instant gratification, it works best with a lifestyle change." LMAO guess he wants that new Ferrari bad

  • I am having a hard time leaning out the last 5-8 pounds, I am a personal trainer but seems like too much protein may be my problem. Not sure where to go, but may give this a try. Any other helpful tips? Trying to think about a figure contest but if I can't do this then that may be too high a goal!

  • @sglendye Check out John Romaniello's Final Phase Fat Loss (dot com)

  • What affect does Intermittent fasting have on GallStones?

  • Is it alright to fast on a monday then fast on a wendsday? or should I keep it far apart like Monday and Friday or Saturday?

  • @SamySantana It doesn't have to be far apart just make sure you are not pushing yourself into the fast. All forces have a counter force.

  • "Provided that on your fast days you take a few proteins shakes ,drink some fruit juice to get some vitamins,it can help you shed fat as well as detoxify your body. "

Provided that you DON'T FAST on your fast days, blah blah blah non-science crap

  • Bad acoustics get a studio

  • You're a really lazy person if this diet appeals to you.

  • there are many health benefits to fasting, so i don't know why you would say that.

  • @iamadumpling - Eat right everyday and you don't need to starve yourself. Fasting should be done rarely for detoxification. This is just a loop hole attempt so people can keep stuffing their face with bad food.

  • gxxr1130 ,as I was saying eating unhealthy even if you fast 1 time a week will backfire, and you will feel sick, I think that intermittent fasting occasionally is a good thing you get alot of health benefits from it, I do not think however that Brad Pilon is telling everyone to stuff there faces with junk food after they fast, in fact he says forget the fast ever happened and eat how you normally would. The point of fasting yes is to detox, and there are many health benefits.

  • @iamadumpling - Most people are not going to eat "normally" if they haven't eaten in 24 hours. They are going to gorge even more than usual.

  • if your going to gorge after fasting then intermittent fasting is not for you, it also depends what you are eating if you eat healthy fasting will be easier. people eat every day one day won't kill them, your alot stronger than you think~erica

  • @iamadumpling - I know I am strong, but people are a lot weaker than you think. If people could control their thoughts, actions, and eating the world would be a different place. Plus, if you think you're not going to be any more hungry in 24 hours than if you ate every 3 that's obviously wrong.

  • there are still health benefits, plus i dont eat every 3 hours im definetly not hungry that many times so doing that would be a waste of food. alot of people that have intermittent fasted can control themselves, if you can't its oviously not for you, and if you use it as an excuse to gorge on unhealthy foods its not for you~erica

  • @iamadumpling people confuse eating every 3 hours as eating the same quanity of food as they would normally eat and eating the same portion of that food. You eat a meal, snack, meal, snack, etc. Bodybuilders don't achieve a low body fat percentage and high muscle volume by fasting.

  • hey i hope you dont get mad at me for always having an awnser to what you are saying but..lol..brad pilon, guy in video he was a body builder, also i know you are not always eating a meal, but honestly i could even do without the snack. brad pilon still has the same body but without all the crazy eating patterns i think what gets you there is training and eating healthy calories, not starnge eating patterns, but if it works for you more power to you, me though i dont want 6 meals i will pass.

  • @iamadumpling - I saw his before and after body building pics. I would like to see a larger sample of people. I'm sure some people can gain muscle and lose weight by eating fried chicken, but for most that is not the case.

  • hun, he does not eat fried chicken, alot of the people thats fast, especially him, eat healthy 80-90% of the time, if you are going to eat like that then good luck you will fail on any diet~erica

  • @iamadumpling - It's an analogy. I'm saying what works for him might not work for everyone. I can show you people that eat candy all day and have a low body fat %, but that doesn't mean it will work for you. And no, you will not fail on every diet. That's why there are so many "diets" out there. People think because it worked for a few people it must work for all. Are bodies are not all perfectly identical.

  • i already said if you are going to gorge it is not for you, so if i said that, dont you think i mean its not for everyone? of course its not for everyone, i just think you are making it sound like its a horrible diet to follow, oviously its working for alot of people and fasting still has health benefits~erica ps i know some people that are stick thin and eat like pigs it is partly genetics, but most of the people i know would be 100 pounds overweight if they ate crap all day

  • What do you mean obviously it's working for a lot of people? Because there is a YT video? I only know of one person who is considering this diet, and she hasn't even started. You completely missed my point. Some people do Atkins and lose weight, some stay the same, and some gain weight. What works for some does not work for all.

  • ok let me sum this up, intermittent fasting and calorie restriction has shown health benefits, there IS health benefits to refraining from food for a certain amount of time, also brad pilon has a book called eat stop eat and yes its working for alot of people and alot of people are doing it. i got your point, my point is that this works for alot of the people who try it

  • Well maybe you just got it now, but this whole time you've been thinking I've been talking about gorging yourself on fast food when I was recently making an analogy on how some people can lose weight on fast food or even certain types of healthy food, and others gain weight. Do you really think this new diet will work for 100% of the people that follow it?

  • i dont think any diet will work for 100% of people, the thing that appeals to me about it is it completly dismisses this whole myth were people are so afraid if they miss a meal they will go into starvation mode, its an irrational fear, bigger meals can take 5 hours to digest i just think people need to start trusting there bodys again~erica ps this diet helps people to stop focusing so much on food, and gives you fasting benefits

  • this is bullshit

  • What is fasting for Eat Stop Eat? Is it just drinking water for 24 hours?

  • It's consuming no calories for that time, or trace amounts. So water, tea, black coffee, diet soda, and sugar free gum (which is like 2 calories or whatever a serving) are all fine during your fasting period.

  • can it just be 22 hours? like 6 pm til 4'pm the next day or is that pointless?

  • 24 hours is really just a convenience thing. I've had success with IF as low as 14 hours when I was at higher weights. Eat Stop Eat is 24 hours, though. I'm sure with his emphasis on flexibility he wouldn't hang you over two hours, though :)

  • I just came accross this site,I do this anyway!I have been for a few years now, mainly due to suffering from chronic pancreatitis and functional bowel disorder,I usually go fo 3-4 days then have something light.Still overweight though!weight goes up and down by silly ammounts, last 6 month went down 40kg and back up 20kg's,i dont eat meat, anything fried, has to be bland as possible to avoid upsets.I do however drink a fair ammount of cola and have supplements on the non fast days, never hungry

  • Brad you ROC! I am currently fasting 3 times per week...because I have found I feel way better on my fast days. I am also not making it a hard and "fast" rule...but It's not that hard. I notice I'm never hungry anymore so I can eat way healthier and have NO craves NONE. You sir have saved my life. I'm documenting my weight loss and will share that with you in time. EAT-STOP-EAT has saved my life. There are not enough words to express my gratitude.....THANK YOU BRAD!!!!!

  • @speshulk1976 hey its been a year since your comment, could you tell me how much you lost on the diet please :)

  • @speshulk1976 hi are you still on this fasting every other day schedule ?? if so what changes have u noticed , im thinking about going for it , all i need is some encouragement .

  • Hi brad

i like this eatstopeat thing .. and i am tribg to do it every other day but i cant hold it for 24 hours i did it for 16 hours after that i want to die to eat sweets :) >> what can i do to make it for 24 hours??

  • Hi Dr. Mark,

The same as i asked you llast time. Please define your definition of starvation mode then please give an example of where this occurs.

And please don't use disease states as an example.

    B

  • @bradpilon

Starvation is when the body is breaking down essential tissues to sustain itself. This does not begin until all of the non-essential tissues and fat stores have been used up. No, im not Dr Mark - but it is what it is.

  • Yes starvation "mode" exists. The metabolism gets slower after a while on a calorie deficit, BUT the metabolism takes time before it slows, it does NOT happen in just a day, actually the metabolism gets raised initially during the first few days before it starts to slow. This is probably because the body wants to have energy to go look for food.

  • I have to agree with you, I'm in Afghanistan right now and don't have the connivence of eating regularly so there has been days where I skipped meals (unintentionally) and when ever I can't find food at the time I would just drink an energy drink. at first I was totally starving but after an hour of being hungry my body would shift gears and I felt full of energy despite missing three meals.

  • In the fasting day the body doesn't lose muscle?

  • The question you should ask is:

Does fasting twice a week make me lose muscle each week?

  • The answer is really not that simple. There has not been any long term studies. Most of what we know from research is what happens acutely in the body. Also, to be exact, muscle wasting and fat burning is something that happens 24 hours a day, just as muscle building and fat accumalation is going on 24/7 at the same time. Fasting decreases fat accumulation resulting in fat loss. It also decreases protein synthesis, resulting in muscle loss. This is Acutely!

  • We know that taking things like protein supplements or essential amino acids when fasted stimulates muscle protein synthesis greatly when on an empty stomach. This could mean that the body "knows" there has been muscle loss and compensates later on if food is supplied. I am not saying that is so, just stating a hypothesis of mine. One thing that makes the body "know" how much muscle it has is probably how many nucleui resides in the muscle cells (the protein synthesis factories).

  • Turning the muclei "on full speed" (by adding amino acids) means building muscle faster if it "has been bigger" since a certain amount of satellite cells can support a certain size, anything smaller than that and it will quickly regain its former size due to the amount of satellite cells working. Thats what I mean with "if you lose muscle on one day in a week" will you lose muscle that week?

Sorry if I dont explain better, there is a limited amount of text to write in a comment and I have

  • shortened down my explanation greatly.

  • Brad I just want to say thank you so much for your book and advice. We as a nation have been lied too for so long about fitness and diet. I'm am so happy I have found you. I just have one little question though. I've been fasting everyday from 11 pm until about 2pm the next day. I work from 3:30pm to 2am. I find this easier for me than going a full 24 hours. Before I would eat when I got off from work. Very bad. Is this form of fasting going to work for me and have same benefits? Your opinion?

  • Stefma

look into the Warrior Diet which incorporates controlled fasting everyday and 1 main meal a night that follows the bodys rhythmic sympathetic nervous system. im finding it works for me and i have more energy. just need to stay on it longer for more benefits like Brad is saying. Ori Hofmekler has vids on here as well. good luck!
