I liked it because of how technically perfect it is, but there isn't much artistry in it. I didn't pick up much on dynamics which is what really shapes the piece, and it really loses something when it's this fast. And on top of it being fast as it is, some parts were really rushed. I know the piece is allegro, but it has so much more character and depth to it at a little slower tempo.
@Mgsoloist Yes I thought that too. The dynamics give the piece shape. It is truly impressive that he is able to play at that speed but it does lose appeal to the actual piece. It is easier to follow when it is in a slower tempo which allows the audience to fully appreciate all the artistry.
I played this for Solo and Ensemble, and I got complimented for landing the trills well, especially at 1:00. Now that I see him play, I feel like a tiny, insignificant shrimp. Itzhak Perlman is perfect. *----* BRAVO!
Well, some people didn't like it. I liked this better than ever. It's really enjoyable this kind of concert...Whatever he's doing here, it sounds great to me.
I never thought I would live to see the day I actually 'disliked' in the very sense of the word anything that Perlman played, I thought it was literally IMPOSSIBLE, yet I really disliked this and I don't think I can even listen to it for a second time! At first I thought someone on purpose fast-forwarded the video as it is RIDICULOUSLY fast, so fast it's like watching some black and white charlie chaplin comedy! utterly abysmal sorry Perlman :( Love and respect you always but this is not for me!

or maybe he was thinking: 'let me play this as fast as possible and finish it IMMEDIATELY as I cannot stand it and must get rid of it NOW' LOL ;)

Magnificent! I played this piece for an exam back in the 1950s not nearly as fast as Itzakh! His technique is incredible!

Did he improvise those trills and stuff or were they on the part already?
