They said that there was a bar named Big John's (Johnny's Place) and one named Dino's, and that the comment about being out on Friday night all dressed up refers to them being out during the weekend in their starched uniforms. My husband was there when there was a Dino's and a Big John's. We dated during his junior and senior years. He used to dress soooooooo slick in those uniforms wth his buddies. At parades on Fridays they would flash their swords in the sunlight, and by night time, they were in downtown Charleston. Fights with the civilian college students sometimes happened. Charleston loves the cadets and lets them have a free hand, as long as they discipline themselves, which they do.
