Impressive machine but its not the "king of surface mining" as claimed in the video. That would be the Bagger 288 (search for it, there are plenty of videos here on YT) - larger and capable of moving 240'000m^3 per day.
@Ganiscol That's a different type of mining technique. Bucket Wheel Excavators are not in the same size class as draglines and shovels. And FWIW, these came before the BWE. So in essence, they are the "King" from one point of view.
What a beautiful machine when it's working! Their photographers did a hell of a job giving one that feeling of mass and just prehistoric size!! I love it!
It is that one of the last 2570Ws to be built, only the 2570 WS (larger bucket capacity and power) is Current in Bucyrus' line up. There wre a few smaller Bucyrus wlakers here in the UK only one left working now.
....It seem a little over-engineered to me.
They could to the same with that giant threaded vehicle I saw somewhere else, so big that it's even equipped to drag continuously.
