Aren't you glad that the video is removed now? But the documentary Autism Every Day was much worse. One mother even stated of driving her and her child off a bridge. They even told the parents tbehind the scenes to look disheveled to make it look dramatic. If that's not sickening, I don't know what is.

It is pure propaganda. I could easily show clips of neurotypical children being uncivilised and bad tempered and call the video Neurotypical Children Every Day. Autism Speaks needs to take a look at the script they came up with for that video. Why do they see it as such a bad thing? We are the beauty in the world! We are rocket scientists. We are doctors. We are engineers. We are NOT any of the things that Autism Speaks makes us out to be, and we are NOT going to just sit back and let them slam us! Great job with the video--it was very moving. I hope Autism Speaks sees it. The time has come for them to ask themselves: Are THEY listening?

I don't remember ASAN using scare tactics. I don't remember ASAN referring to Autism as a disease, comparing it to LIFE threatening diseases such as aids and cancer. It is striking how little you had to change of the Autism Speaks text -- other than replacing the word "Autism" with "Hatred" in the first part... and correcting the (very telling) absence of *autistic people* in the second part of the Autism Speaks original. *That* specific fact about the text deserves to be blogged far and wide, because it shows how easily the "love the child, hate the autism" approach breaks down.
