Secondly, A LOT of the glitches are FUN glitches like the poly glitch that makes you go faster or the prone bug, stop crying about glitches and graphics and try it, its not like 3.5 mega bytes of space is going to kill you

Soldat isn't all about that,if you got into the community and the clans you would see what Soldat is all about.

If you waste your time on pubs all day that's your fault don't take it out on the game.

I've been playing Soldat for about a year now and not once has it felt repetitive to me.

Sorry, but I have no idea what you meant and what does Soldat have to do with campaings, unlocks and buyable mods.. :/

If the game is long-term or short-term - in my opinion, it depends on person. Some prefer MMOs, single player campaigns, etc. Some prefer games with only few maps and game modes and "repetitive" gameplay, and can play those games for much longer time than other games.

In short - it's a matter of taste.

What I'm saying is that Soldat is a very good game, but to understand that you first gotta learn more about it.

Many people take poor graphics and glitches too hard and think the game sucks.

There's not a lot to learn.

People download the game, and instead of playing the normal game which is glitchy enough, they decide to whore out mods over and over, which sure, you might've said they stop the game from being repetitive, but people just play that one fucking mod all day, and one has to wonder how you would go about playing this game as a long term user.

The RPG mods don't stop it from being repetitive, they just add more building blocks.

I play Soldat very often, same server, same maps, same game mode, and yet I'm still having fun and don't get bored. When I do get bored - I play one of the mods for a week or two, then get back to normal game. I have no problem with that, and I know a lot of other people who enjoy the game just as much,

I'll repeat yet another time: Other games are just as repetitive (I personally dont see much difference between soldat, quake and counter-strike and other).

This game sucks, it's repetitive, the graphics even for 2D are unlikable, and the only NEW thing in this game is that it's laggy and unreliable and people still play it.

Repetitive - in that case Counter Strike, Quake, Liero, and many other games are just as repetitive. Any game is repetitive to a certain extent, and Soldat isn't as bad. Plus, there are many modded servers with original game modes.

This game is meant to be fun, not just original.

Graphics - yeah, they're not great. But keep in mind that it was made but just one guy, and the game still looks better than many other indie-games.

People still play it somply because it's good.

Okay, you have me on the repetitive parts. However, the games physics aren't complex enough to add a lot customization to modding anyway. I mean, FPS games have gone from typical things like Halo 3 to Portal. Now, I might seem foolish comparing Soldat to more professional games but one has to wonder what Michael (Michal?) was thinking when he made a system with such impossibility to weapons. The physics are horribly glitchy.

Actually, there is a portal mod for soldat, though it only has the teleport part, but thats not important. And yes, you're going a bit too far comparing Soldat to more serious games. For a freeware/shareware that is focused on [shooting] people, the physics are at a good level. As far as I know, soldat was initially Michal's school project, and it wouldnt be surprising if he just wanted to finish it quick. ;|

As for the physics, the amount of times I've hit myself or someone else dead on with an m79 and it has hardly hurt me but simply given me or the opponent a HEADSTART IN WHERE HE IS AIMING is unbelievable.

However, keep in mind, of all the mods out there, how much actually have people playing them on online servers? Oh yeah, not very far. Just the ones that are MINOR edits built on making it easier for those who lack patience. Also, Flash games vs soldatLOL

Soldat's is laggy, not gonna argue with that. But it's not as bad if the server isn't laggy, and is completely bearable.

And actually, a lot of modded servers are populated and it's even hard to get into some of them because they are full most of the time.

By the way, mods - i'm not talking about weapon mods where noobs make MP5 shoot rockets. I'm talking about scripts that add skills and abilities, or turn soldat into dodgeball or basketball-like game, or even hide-and-seek and more.

Ah , this was a misunderstanding.

Yeah, I know about the DODGEBALL things, and the RPG servers, but these just get just as repetitive. Not only that, but since they weren't put into the game officially, they don't try to make bug fixes, and they end up being horrible cheap.

For instance, I remember a skill that would let you teleport a short distance, and people would just use it to move through WALLS, and get to things easier. This ruins games like CTF.

Mods might get repetitive, but their purpose is to make soldat itself less repetitive. No need to play same mod for months. It's not about constantly having something new - it's having something old, but still fun and addicting.

A skill that lets you teleport through walls - it doesn't make CTF cheap, because other players have this or other skills too, not to mention cool-down time. I've played that mod, used that skill and it didn't make my life easier, but gave more tactical possibilities.
