Hi, I totally agree. Bobby does a great job on this. The melody and orchestration are perfect. It's a great song for taking a drive in your car on a nice day.
Cool version! Bobby is STILL singing great! Also one of the nicest and FUNNIEST guys in this crazy "BIZ called SHOW"! He sings the heck out of Standards and Swing tunes. Bobby also always does a tribute to Bobby Darin in every show. EXCELLENT!
I agree with you wholeheartedly that this song has been overlooked...the rhythm section does sound like it came right out of a Gary "US" Bonds session...Louis Prima and Kelly Smith would be proud of Bobby's take on their big hit.
One of the nicest songs of the Real Book in a nice version by Bobby. Thanx for sharing, for me it's useful to inspire a new arrangement for that song by my band The Lucky Duckies
"That Old Black Magic" came first. The original hit version is from 1943. The Bobby Rydell version made its debut on 5/1/61. "Quarter To Three" made its debut on 5/22/61.
Hey Mike! Another great post! There are so many great songs out there over the past few decades that should have been huge hits. There always seems to be a handful of reporting major market radio stations that repeatedly hold back great sounding songs on the charts. Ultimately, leaving these great songs as mid-charted could've, should've beens.

My all time favorite song of Bobby Rydell. Also, like your posting of the Outsiders' Respectable on Capitol from 1966.

Sure sounds great in STEREO. Twistin', uptempo version of Black Magic. Classy intro also. THANKS for posting.

Nice to see all the love for Bobby and his
music. He's a truly nice guy and works
hard to please his fans. Still sounds
great and is very charitable. Stars today
can learn a lot from him.

Pretty much everything that Cameo put out sounded good! This horns sound a lot like Cameo labelmates The Orlons. :)
