  • R.I.P Willie Mason...thnx for the sample

  • Chill song

  • very cool)

  • Something to blaze too...

  • Every video I go to I always have to hear people talking about either lil wayne or Justin Bieber. If you don't like them how about you try not mentioning them. The more you say there names the more known they'll be.

  • @DominicanAssassin809 It's a sad thing when people's dislike of wack artists unite them instead of just connecting on the love of Hip-Hop. But it's the way of the world blind hate leads to blind love.

  • @Grimey90s They unite because the WACK music is receiving the airplay when it shouldn't get approved to be placed on wax/cd/cassette to begin with! Why should people love something that is weak and sounds horrible? If these people that are connecting because of this, were to say these wack artists are great, that would mean they are "yes" men/women. Over 90% of Hip-Hop today is horrible! Nursery rhymes, nursery beats, auto-tunes, females dress like whores and everyone sounds a like.

  • @Grimey90s So, is it safe to say that you are the type of person that will order a meal at a restaurant and tell them the way you want your meal prepared and when its brought to you it isn't the way you told them? But, you are willing to eat and pay for it without any complaints? Well, these folks voiced their opinion about Hip-Hop of today and that's what brought them together. They aren't willing to accept someone telling them what's great and who is great! They aren't blind or deaf!

  • @Grimey90s Maybe you should remove the "blinders" and turn up the Beltone!

  • @NYCNorthNJ777 I agree that hip hop today is wack as hell and I understand the frustration of any true hip hop fan who has to hear gargbage on the radio. I myself has never turned on a radio since 2000. But my point is that we can't worry about what's popular to teenage girls and squeaky voiced pretend thugs.

  • @NYCNorthNJ777 If a resturant messes up my order I can't change the resturant I'll just let them feed their demographic and find one where the atmosphere is better. Let them have their airplay. With technology today, real Hip Hop can live forever. These Lil Waynes and Biebers are going to sell no matter how much we protest because people will still buy. I just try to see Hip Hop in a positive view instead of living in negativity.

  • Comment removed

  • @Grimey90s I agree 100%.

  • @NYCNorthNJ777 I have to say I appreciate the response though. I respect it when the commenter doesn't come off all aggressive and starts name calling. I got you're point dead on.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • But when I swing my swords they all choppable!!!!!! Respect to the original!

  • mos def talking is better then rappers albums! "It was so beautiful. It was almost unfair. It's cold but it's true. It was so cold it got warm" classic

  • why people compare mos def and genius.?

just wonder...because they're best rapper of all time in my lists.

  • genius

  • Liquid fucking swords........................

  • as dope as Mos is, he shouldn't touch this beat after GZA made it a classic. GZA voice/delivery/flow with this beat is unmatched. Still got love for Mighty Mos tho

  • @TheCardsfan2 what? Mos has soul and I appreciate him touching that classic, plus that's how we keep strong potent rap relevant and accessible. Even though I don't know if this album even went gold

  • @rennyren77 Like i said, i got love for mos. GZA over this beat is unmatched period. IDGAF if you put AZ or G Rap on this shit. it's GZA's all day. That's when RZA was producin shit that specifically went with each members sound. Now quit makin me sound like i don't like mos def...

  • mos def on a rza beat.....Thank You God

  • LAWL @ MOS

  • Genius/GZA

  • Mos Def - Beauty in the Dark (Music video by SOSA REAL)

  • I'm on a mission that niggas said is impossible, but when I swing my sword...

  • You can always tell when Mos has been burning, his speech sounds like his mouth is filled with cotten and he talks super slow.

  • would have been more interesting if he'd covered the whole track like he does the chorus. rap verses were never going to come as hard as gza's

  • As far as I know, GZA/RZA sampled it too. However, also used in the Black Eyed Peas' "Head Bobs".

  • best line: big eyes like birthday surprise

  • daamn this beat goes so hardd

  • The GZA making dank ass beats

  • @nczekaj GZA? RZA made this beat dude.

  • @ShadowNinja215 this song is from the 2006 album "True magic"...the beat is from the GZA song "Liquid swords" but ill forgive you

  • @nczekaj I know it's from GZA's Liquid Swords song, however RZA made the beat not GZA.

  • @nczekaj

GZA rapped to it, and RZA produced it. So the beat is from the RZA. But i´ll forgive you. ;)

  • Fuck me this is a heavy track. Woohoo I'm so stoked to have found another one of Def's epic pieces. Thanks for the upload rightful and thank you Mos for not bending over in the face of our wannabe masters. I don't know how much longer mankind will be around but people like you and us made all the difference. We didn't fall for the mind trap. We see clearly and through these thoughts we connect. One people standing with their heads high. Peace out

  • STRANGE TIMEZ!!...

  • The way to break free from the mental grasp of the government is to overcome the idea that money is everything in life. Society brainwashes you into thinking money is EVERYTHING. You wanna know why? Becuase the more people that are consumers and overspend, the more money the government makes, and the government is greedy. GREED: whoever dies the richest wins. When you're on your death bed, are you going to be one of the people worried about your stocks?

  • when the mc's caaaaaaaaame

  • @gliza u have your opinion and i have mine...rakim,krs,black thought all great mcs all in my list...but my numero uno IS MOS DEF AIGHT?peace

  • Mos Def is the best rapper in our time so ...whatever!Love u Mos !!!

  • @oasisfanatic77

at his best, mos can be absolutely amazing. and his worst, he can be interesting.

but i nominate black thought as greatest emcee OF ALL TIME. yes, i said it. greater than rakim, greater than krs, greater kool g rap...THE GREATEST!!!!!

  • When keeping it real goes wrong...

  • the only way to bring hip-hop back again is to defeat the illuminati because they only let people who are down with them rap.also they tell you what to rhyme about, notice how every rapper on the radio raps about wealth and fame.we gotta get real hip-hop out there again,we gotta take over the radio stations that play hip-hop and give the world the good old days back.

  • No best than Gza, mais very good !

  • GZA Should've used this For his Chorus!!!

  • dirty is alieve

  • @1818guti cool! thanks!

  • did MFDOOM sample this as well?

  • Callin all Real HIP HOP ARTIST. Need some real HIP HOP beats? Take a listen to me at soundcloud . com / whyesproductions

If you are interested you can lease my beats at soundclick . com / whyesproductions

  • The chorus is better, but everyone else here speaks the truth: GZA's verses are untouchable.

  • pretty good version. Nothing can touch the original though

  • If you like mos def you might like me you should check me out but i cant promise anything lol

  • damn this has nothing on the original... and I'm a big fan of Mos

  • Gotta love Mos defs and GZA's go on such an amazing beat

  • "flows like the blood on a murder scene"

  • where does the first beat ceome from, its not in the original willie mitchell grovinn

  • ant from atmosphere used that beggining sample, wonder who its originally from

  • I like this song but the quality of yru shit sucks the sound is fucked.

  • lil wayne is fucking cockaroach he needs 2 die fast and let da real hip hop fuck our ears again i miss old dayz :)

  • @zezima361 lol so does LAY Z and FOUL JA GIRL!! lolol!!

    FULLY agree with you

  • @zezima361 I know. Wayne's lyrics don't even make sense. It's just hipster babble.

  • @zezima361 LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @zezima361

There's a lil wayne comment on every Mos song. Lil wayne has no place here, even to be dissed.

  • @DeathSlayer2 However, GZA does...great cover and reinterpretation!

  • @zezima361 cuz year 2006 is really the "Old dayz"... It's modern music dipshit, just go out and listen find it, no need to hate on someone making his money. Plus wayne did so much for the game, stfu before saying he needs 2 die. He is one of the best emcees alive. His bars obviously have much more deeper meaning then their simple definition... His mixtapes are just murder.

  • @zezima361 Amen

  • @zezima361 dont let lil wayne or other dilute the real thing man, its upto us to vote with our $

  • @zezima361 who the fuck is lil wayne and why does everyone hate her?

  • @mrdreadeye808 dued lil wayne is a guy and just look him up

  • @krazy00jeff ...

  • @krazy00jeff wow gullable much?

  • Wow.... somebody actually mentioned the name "Lil Wayne". Gtfo.

  • @Qoppa1 what a shame

  • If u fukz wit this then youtube "Costa aka Capo" N peep the track "Listen", also... listen to "Gov'z Greazy", N listen to "Freedom".

  • Liquid Swords is much better but this was not bad. I liked it, but GZA's version is one of the best.

  • smokaspliff

  • The poetic is wack! How long you been jamming hip hop? You heard of a sample? Thats what most songs are most shit isnt the artists beat but shared.... Dont hate what you cant understand

  • Both versions are good.

  • do they have to pay if they use a beat of another artist???? or can they just use it? ^^

  • lil wayne , hahaha, is a shit! Mos Def is better!

  • RZA + Mos Def = Ultimate Hip Hop

  • fresh peaches & apples to the président. Crime.

    Fresh

    Boogymen music xD

with the whistle added to GZA song it's AWESOME.

    Love the both track. <3

  • ODB + MOS DEF ITS A WRAPPPP

  • He was barely audible in the beginning... Let's not even lie here.

  • A lot of MC'S is DEF but they not MOS!

  • dooms got some dope tracks, but hes a DICK

  • lmfao..lil wayne!!I guess we know who the friggin noob is..far from it kid!!!Good Beat!...another good one is Sex,Love and Money..by yours truly...Mos Def!!!

    lil wayne sucks

  • @MrEfykOne if u intentionaly listen to lil wayne...u dnt know what real hiphop is

  • ummm NO. granted each person is granted their own opinion this opinion just happens to suck.

  • Comment removed

  • GZA's lyrics are better but I like this versions chorus better Ah!

  • mos def is damn good, but no way is he lyrically competing with the genius!!

  • that depends what'cha lookin for...

  • DOOM slaughtered this beat Mos was brave for even daring to doctor this.

  • mos def is to epic to epic by far more epic then this world gives him credit for

  • What does Doom have to do with any of this?

  • yea doom killed it for sure

  • Even tho it's the same song, you can't really compare Mos' and GZA's versions to each other. They're totally different rappers with totally different styles, and they both represent themselves 100% in this track.

Mos obviously makes this track with all respect to GZA, but adds 100% his own flavor to it. I'm a fan of both tho!

  • The chorus is the best part of this song ^_^

  • the beginning is the bomb

  • @zakezu look up gza, Liquid swords (original song) Mos Def did a great job remixing this track

  • what do you know, you dont even know english

  • i actually agree...i think GZA's chorus in this version would be tighter..atleast if they sang it the same

  • oh my god what a fucking creation!! a Gza beat and Mos Def laying the lyrics. this is magic to me!

  • GZA completely rips this song apart, so this version isn't much to be astonished by.

But I've always admired Mos Def's creativity.

  • What GZA did for hip hop is kind of like splitting atoms. Mos Def (and see how I'm showing respect by placing the first letters of his name in capitals here) in comparison is like the first ever successful plastic surgery. What GZA did for hip hop is kind of like what Gertrude Stein did for the state of stuffy English poetics. You can say it's a matter of opinion and it's all relative. But it's not. It's like comparing Eric Dolphy to Kenny G. YOU CAN'T FUCKING DO IT SO DON'T TRY. THINK CRITICAL.

  • liquid swordz!!!

  • Comment removed

  • no way, mos def is nasty

  • I'm not doubting mos def's talents as an mc. I just don't think he can fuck with the GZA. I think that if you asked mos def how he sees himself in comparison he would agree. Otherwise he wouldn't need to redo a GZA track. I am not discrediting mos def I just don't think he can fuck with the GZA.

  • UNDERRATED ALBUM

  • forealz

gza and mighty mos both did a good job though

  • u Got it ! 4ReAlZzz

  • When the MC's came, to live our their name,

    And to perorrrrm,

Some had, to snort cocaiiinnne to act insannne. -The Genius

  • 1994 beat still better than anything out today

  • good mos version but gza's is better no doubt

  • When i think of Liquid Swords, i think of all time great. and I also consider it an Untouchable. I like Mos Def as much as anyone but i cant get behind this. That was GZA at his best and we use that song(Liquid Swords) as a trademark for him. I cant agree with the choice to remake it with Mos Def over the beat....

  • I dont see the problem.

ppl remake songs over all the time, i mean whats so bad about that. the original version will always be better than the remake, without the original there is no remake. think of it as a tribute. and be glad that someone like mos def made a remake and not someone like soulja boy =), that would hurt, wouldnt it?

  • so tight!

  • WU WU WU WU WU WU WU WU WU TANG!

  • i think mos def is a good rapper and blackstar is a classic album dont get me wrong (i know this is not from blackstar im just throwing this out there) but im sorry but im not feeling this version prolly because im spoiled by gza's genius lyrics!!!!!

  • mos def over a gza beat-heaven!

  • liquid swords wu tang beat niggaaaaa

  • wu tang wu tang wu tang wu tang wu tang

  • GZA's version (entitled "Liquid Swords" for those that don't know) is in my opinion, a million times better. WU TANG FOREVER!!! I still love you Mos.

  • strange times

  • This track is hot, Mos is definitely original and versatile a dope mc. How ever he looks irregular , he needs to practice a lil' bit more .

Wu 's the best rap group for ever baby !

  • I'm not sure I overstand what you mean... "looks irregular"?

  • he walks the the tightrope with being behind the beat. gives some patois feel to the music.

Wu is awesome, true - this is a good cover, innit? plus, played by black jack johnson, if i'm right...

whatever, i think mdef is cementing his style with the laid back stuff.

  • yeah man, I agree with u... It's good to see that we share the same knowledge and feelings about hip hop music !!! I wish you well. one love !

  • a la votre!

    xcuse my french, brutha.

thx for the warm words. as ella fitzgerald said:

    have yourself a soulful christmas.

  • this song is nice. mad love for mos & the gza.

  • produced by rza

  • yeah but the gza was the first to spit on the track. :)

  • yo i got mad love for mos def he's a talented brotha love his music and acting skills but this particular song cant compare to the original GZA track.. however its still decent i like it.

  • See, sometimes...

    You gotta flash em back

See niggaz don't know where this shit started

Y'all know where it came from

I'm sayin we gonna take y'all back to the source

Mos Def obviously got love for the GZA and the WU.

  • this is my favorite track on the album--- mayb it wasnt when i first heard it. but i could hear this 20 times in a row and not get sick if it.... i think that says a lot

  • The original track is Groovin by willie mitchell, also used by GZA liquid swords, and black eyed peas - head bobs

    peace

  • thanks...i really didn't knew that:D

  • oh my bad i didn't see that you had the GZA one ha ha

  • @rightful8912

    know

  • @plod985 Pharrell Williams also used it on his IN MY MIND THE PREQUEL album

  • anyone got the lyrics? if so... reply, or message me prreaaseee..!!

    haha

  • great song!

  • i love diz song bluu! ! ! !
