  • the man with nakayama is defitly Kanazawa sensei, not Obata

  • The guy kicking Nakayama looks like Kanazawa, but I'm not sure that's historically correct. I'm not sure if this was fil;med in 1946 either. Remember, Japan surrendered the same year, and Tokyo was in ruins, so the year on this video could be wrong (much later).

  • @Bassai oops, Japan surrendered in 1945. Still, in 1946, much of Japan was in ruins and the old Shotokan dojo was no more.

  • That's Isao Obata. Word is he left JKA because he thought the group was charging too much for instruction.  It is said he taught for free when he split.
