im a apsolute ,just picked up a guitar beginner so i have a question.
When i see guitar lesstions they focus on what tabs/chords you press on the frets, but what im trying to understand the relationship between what strings your pick with what strings you hold down on the fret board, is it always if i hold down 3 strings those are the only 3 i strike for that part of the rift untill the note changes?
@kaleluk31 Since I haven't seen anyone else reply, and even tho your post is 6 months old, I thought I'd reply. You don't necessarily have to just hit the strings that are in the chord. You can hit more strings but you have to mute the other strings in some way. You can use part of your picking hand, or you can use your fretting hand. If you have strings that you don't want to sound next to strings that you do, lay your fretting finger on those. It will come to you thru practice and experiment.
The thing from 00:19 seconds.. i can play it when i sit down, but OH MY GOD i have a hard time playing it standing up, and its not like my guitar is hanging real low, just at my belt like normal. I can play every chords and such, but i kinda have a hard time when playing that lille chords with the pinky :(
Had it over 10 years just haven't used it on any of these vids - it's actually in my ClassicRockRiffs logo you'll see at the top right of this page and on my channel page. Cheers
Excellent - well take some video, I'd love to see it. It's fantastic that you're in a band at 13, you'll have a lot of fun and make lot's of noise, what more could you want!

@megamania500 well i havent been able to pick up my guitar in all that time because i had college comitments, but im finished now.
i have a brian may red special and im left handed.
i was just trying to follow the steps in the video and it seemed the 3 with a arch thing looks like you kinda touch it slightly but not sure,
im a apsolute beginner and im trying to get my head around the strings you strike vs which strings you hold down,
kaleluk31 11 months ago
@megamania500 i find it hard to remember all the notes and where they are
kaleluk31 11 months ago
that curve from 3 to 0, is that the bit where you just touch the 3rd fret?

Yes that can be tricky, pull the neck towards you and up a bit to help and dig your elbow in your ribs that'll do it
