If you still disagree that taking the bus, changing to more efficient light bulbs and recycling is not better for the env, you can go to hell. Fact: florescent light bulbs are more efficient. They may contain some toxic chemicals, but so does your other house hold products. It's only toxic if you throw it in the trash instead of disposing of it properly.

If there was a point to recycling, the market would do it, (no state-run diamond or 1982 Ferrari recycling schemes) the low energy bulbs give poor light, are more costly and release more toxic chemicals (when they fail) than regular ones. Public transport for peak time (i.e. crowded) travel okay, but buses emit more CO2 than cars if half empty.
