I'm confused on the Ornshaw/Melody thing... In the movie there was no love connection between them, but I see pictures of Melody and Ornshaw dancing, in one picture it looked like Danny AND Ornshaw kissing Melody's cheek... wth????
This is awesome! I absolutely love Jack Wild,he will forever be in my heart. Hope he is young again, and happy. He brought happiness to me and so many others. God bless the woman wholoved him thru his final days,R.I.P Jack-WE LOVE YOU!
Saludos! :D
One of the sweetest movies I have EVER seen--I fell IN LOVE with Mark and Jack. I was the same age and watching this movie made a huge impact on me. It was beautiful and touched my heart--it was amazingly sensitive to young love! I thought Mark was a dream. LOVE from the US. "You don't know what it's like, to love somebody the way I love you..."
Nothing pretentious about this man at all. I am so glad that he found a lovely lady to love in his older years, someone who really loved and cared for him when it counted. God bless her. I really miss the man, you know?
I read an old artical that said that both Daniel and Ornshaw were in love with Melody, but I saw this and I didn't seem like that. Could somebody clear this up for me?
Ornshaw was never in love with Melody in the movie. In fact Ornshaw was jealous that she took his friend away. You could relate tthis to the scene prior to the playing of "First of May".
Shame on you,he was a hot looking young man and very much NOT homosexual. What difference would it make if he were? Are you? PeterPanFan is more like it ,methinks. Don't diss Jack Wild, idiot.
Never realized before that there were no kissing scenes. That's part of the charm of the film. A serious kissing scene would alter the feel of the movie.
This was the first romantic film I had ever seen as a child.I fell deeply in love with Mark Lester and wanted to be "Melody".I remember crying back then longing for someone to someday love me like this.Watching this video and hearing the music again has the tears once again streaming down my face. The combination of beautiful music and innocent love doesnt seem to exist much in this world anymore does it?
I completely agree with your words. This is an innocent film with compelling actors and a beautiful score. When my mother took me to see this one when I was about 11 yrs., she said throughout the movie, "Melody looks just like your cousin, Mary." "I can't believe how much she resembles Mary." I had been looking forward to the movie for so long, too.
I agree with what you've said. How I loved this film and how innocent it seems in comparison with how things are today. Just watching this makes me feel that tug in my heart that I thought would nearly kill me back then. Older, but no wiser, eh?
Well done for this! I have the original vinyl soundtrack of this film. It is a french import and in france the film was called, How old is old enough.
My grandparents took me to see this movie when I was 13 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, Ga. What a memory. In 2001, my sweetheart ordered the DVD from China as you couldn't get it in the USA. It was delayed 6 months due to Sept. 11. I was so glad to receive it finally. How sweet even the bratty kids were at that time. The music in the movie is amazing. Ahhh, young romance.
I have the film and feel I lived that life. This hauntingly beautiful song fits the movie like a glove. The cemetry scene ne of the best ever - so innocnet yet so believabel.
@2muchfun111 - I ordered by dvd copy off of Amazon from South America. Can't get it here in the states. Saw this when it came out when I was about 10 or so. I'm still a Jack Wild fan. He had a magical quality as a young actor.
this movie was played when i was small. I baught a copy from Hong kong. Reminds me of my younger days when i was 10. If I want to remember my younger days I play this movie and i cry. I want to be young again.
This song just blows me away everytime I hear it. Jack flies thru my heart each and everytime. I hope God is taking very good care of him....he deserves it. Wish he didn't have to leave us so soon tho..
Jack was definitely my childhood as well... I sang the songs all the way to school too! Were we neighbours back then? lol... Now i have his music on mp3, and i was singing along with him all the way home from work on the train. i don't know what the OTHER people on the train thought, though... But it comforted me to have his voice with me again. Love to you my wild sister xxx
My childhood crush was Mark Lester, and this lovely piece brings him back into sharp focus. What memories. And yes, Jack Wild is much missed. He was terrific in this perfect film that touched so many.
Jack Wild was also my childhood crush, my first love. I made the film as a tribute to Jack, because living in a world without him is so hard. I'm so happy you like it x
I could watch this movie everyday....Ornshaw is my FRIEND..and Jack Wild was my one and only girlhood LOVE...there will never be another like him...I LOVE YOU JACK....
I'm confused on the Ornshaw/Melody thing... In the movie there was no love connection between them, but I see pictures of Melody and Ornshaw dancing, in one picture it looked like Danny AND Ornshaw kissing Melody's cheek... wth????

Actually the character of Ornshaw was meant to be gay.

I don't think Ornshaw was gay.

@JuanMacready Yeah Ornshaw wasn't gay. Wasn't there a part of the movie where he was looking at a magazine of nude women?

Maybe or was that Daniel?

@JuanMacready I am pretty sure it was both of them
