I'm confused on the Ornshaw/Melody thing... In the movie there was no love connection between them, but I see pictures of Melody and Ornshaw dancing, in one picture it looked like Danny AND Ornshaw kissing Melody's cheek... wth????

One of the sweetest movies I have EVER seen--I fell IN LOVE with Mark and Jack. I was the same age and watching this movie made a huge impact on me. It was beautiful and touched my heart--it was amazingly sensitive to young love! I thought Mark was a dream. LOVE from the US. "You don't know what it's like, to love somebody the way I love you..."

Ornshaw was never in love with Melody in the movie. In fact Ornshaw was jealous that she took his friend away. You could relate tthis to the scene prior to the playing of "First of May".

Never realized before that there were no kissing scenes. That's part of the charm of the film. A serious kissing scene would alter the feel of the movie.

This was the first romantic film I had ever seen as a child.I fell deeply in love with Mark Lester and wanted to be "Melody".I remember crying back then longing for someone to someday love me like this.Watching this video and hearing the music again has the tears once again streaming down my face.The combination of beautiful music and innocent love doesnt seem to exist much in this world anymore does it?

I completely agree with your words. This is an innocent film with compelling actors and a beautiful score. When my mother took me to see this one when I was about 11 yrs., she said throughout the movie, "Melody looks just like your cousin, Mary." "I can't believe how much she resembles Mary." I had been looking forward to the movie for so long, too.

My grandparents took me to see this movie when I was 13 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, Ga. What a memory. In 2001, my sweetheart ordered the DVD from China as you couldn't get it in the USA. It was delayed 6 months due to Sept. 11. I was so glad to receive it finally. How sweet even the bratty kids were at that time. The music in the movie is amazing. Ahhh, young romance.
