Actually, the US Coast Guard Criss Crosses 4 times. This does work great and is how I tie up my boat 95% percent of the time. However, locking this knot under can cause you to not be able to get it undone under great load. Imagine having to move your boat in 35 knot breeze, good luck getting this undone, or, imagine being towed by another boat and the forces that exerts. This is not the only choice.
The fellow that tapes these knot videos should put on classes. Simple, concise and useful are a few words that come to mind when learning from these videos.
I sail , I feel that using a motor to tame the high seas is cheating. Sailing takes mad skillz man.

I usually tie a knight knot when I tie up an use the cleat knot when rigging my dingy/yacht.
