FL92002 The reason why I asked the latter part of the question is because I saw a thanksgiving dinner video at one of the squads. In the video they talked about the fact that the squads were designed as Haz-Mat units as part of S.O.C. and that each has a "bread truck".
From listening to the radio, I know that HM 1 goes on all serious hazmat calls and I was wondering if this station has the squad, it's "bread truck" and Hazmat 1 and it's second piece. Thanks for answering my questions :)
FL92002 - Nice video. Can you answer a few questions please:
1- How come the first rig has a 7-man crew? Is the open door we see a spot for a 5-man crew-spot or a "command center" / "communictions area" OR do the 5 other guys ride in the back like Rescue's 1-5?
2- What does the second piece carry? Do BOTH pieces roll on each run?
3- I thought each squad company has one of the "bread trucks" as a "level one" response vechile (from another vid). So this house has 3 Hazmat units?
ok the hazmat one is a ferrara inferno rescue body the new ferrara's on order is goin to be a ember rescue body the fdny is reciving 5 for all rescue co's and 20 new rear mount ladders the sec piece is the spair international there main is a pierce kenworth which is up for replacement soon.
Ferrara won the bid for 10 rear mount ariels and all 5 FDNY rescues, believe it or not Ferrara is becoming one of the larger fire apparatus manufactures- and FDNY has been using Ferrara for all the Special units like the Satelittes, Collapse Rescue,etc.
FDNY needs to stick to segraves, i mean, those rigs and macks r thier history. These ferraras or whatever ther called should not be in the best FD in the world
Yea um i really don't think that International only seats 2 firefighters since it does have four doors.
Plus i read an article about FDNY going to be buying several new Ferraras to replacing the Seagrave Engines but E-One will build the new rescues. Idk it was a while ago i read that cant remember all the details.
e one IS NOT BUILDING ANYTHING for fdny. the new rescues will be ferrara, and i dont know why, the only one they have is the hazmat and its falling apart. second the rear mount ladders are also going to be ferrara and thats only because seagrave messed up the bid. they are only building 6 that is the min. req for the bid. thay will wait it out then rebid the rear mounts. 28 more pumpers to be delivered this year along with the new tower ladder that are starting to roll in now.
Why are they not staying with Pierce . I think they did a very nice job on Rescue 1 in Manhattan.How did Seagrave mess up . They are said to be the best and most expensive company when it comes to Ladders and Engines

Ferrara and the FDNY have built custom cab/chasis for the new rescues; they are tanks, and i can't wait for them to be finished
