  • @NavyGuard8690 >>First of all, this was the funeral service for Mrs. King. A woman of courage, strength and dignity. We have holiday for white Presidents who owned slaves and pillaged and raped Native Americans, and whites who enforced Jim Crow laws in the south, and whites who were also womanizers so stop trying to imply that whites are people without sin! ! The only ethnic group who has brought this nation down were whites who inflicted atrocities upon people of color!

  • truth to power and "going to church"...two things white elites aren't used to.......

    Bravo Mr. Lowery, BRAVO!!!

  • Shall we consider ignoring the ignorant who were not blessed to be present or knowledgable of Mrs. Coretta Scott King. That is peace. Shall we consider in loving memory of Dr & Mrs Martin Luther King, Jr to keep out dignity in the face of ignorance and hatred. For peace, my brothers and sisters, is the legacy of Dr. & Mrs. King. Which will resoun d like thunder that no words of hatred can be heard. May we honor their memory in peace.

  • The Bush bashing was undignified place to call him out. I don't agree with Bush and opposed him, btw.

  • @chewbaca1989 I thought church was a place to seek the truth. I thought church was a place of God, the source of all truth. Am I right? If Lowery wasn't telling the truth then it wasn't the place

  • @Suisseflight

Who's truth is being used here? My truth or yours? No church is not a place to seek truth, you go to the desert for that.

  • @Forestroot lol why do White muthafuckas like u search for videos with Black people on them, LMAO! this is so common on Black Sites as well TAke dumb Albino little dick ass to White Supremacist site or Hitler video u dumb fuck....U so fascinated by us but we don't give a fuck....man I swear these lil faggot ass white dudes stay on that Kim Kardashian tip trying get our attention....I got some to get your attention these nuts in yo Momma's mouth BITCH!!! • he repeat some of his poem from rosa park funeral

    wwwDOTlovablefashionsDOTcom

  • @forestroot - you sad simpleminded SOB. that preacher and coretta have done more with their life than you could ever imagine. alway you have going for you is racial rhetoric. in 2010 you are talking about the so called dominance of the white man. look around fool, the white man is the minority. inbred morons like yourself can only look back at the good old days for you when all you had to be was white to succeed. nowadays losers like you can't compete, and post stuff like this.

  • @forestroot -how pathetic you are. if saying nigger makes you feel better about being nothing (despite being a white man) then say it until you are blue in the face.

  • @forestroot it scares me that people like you still exist.

  • I can only smile and nod my head as he speaks. His uncanny talent to not only command a crowd but also take a very serious moment and make it fun and laughable is nothing short of brilliant. My hats off to him.

  • HALLELUJAH!!! YOU BETTA PREACH TA'DAY!!!

  • This preacher can preach the gospel of Christ, the facts of life, civil rights, or a country with no lights and I will receive. He's filled with wisdom in reaching people.

  • Squirm away, W....you bastard

  • I love this preacher!!!

  • you should have known that when he got to that mike that he was gonna tell it like it was with no surarcoating WHEW.and didnt care what they had to say on the opposing side.

  • 4:32

  • "Sit down before I take an Offering" LOL

  • dont be fooled Clinton is right along with the other presidents , he just have many fooled............i like it Dr. Lowery.....well said

  • How awesome!!

  • He stoped preaching and went to interfearing. Tell the truth and the truth shall set you free. He said what every one else was thinking and what others would never say. Thank you Sir for your words of truth and wisdom. Amen

  • 4:50 is all I got to say..

  • disgusting? disgusting is getting us in a war we can't win because bush wanted to avenge his father and get saddam. when asked about the man who really attacked this country, bush said he didn't really think about him anymore. bush lied and the preacher called him on it. we all know bush is a former drunk, drug addict and a liar who happened to become president because of his father's connections & MONEY - somehting he was totally unqualified for. NOW THAT IS DISGUSTING.

  • that was disgusting how he took a shot at the president like that. I think that Bush shouldn't have been there, but who the hell does this bum think he is taking a shot at the president like that?

  • He took it for those 3000 Americans who died in Iraq.

  • Oh shut up....

  • LOL

  • i have watched this speech numerous times, but every time it brings tears to my eyes...<3

  • It's unfair to compare,

    there's no better orator,

    than this crazy old preacher.

  • Awesomness...!

  • I love Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery He is so smart I wish i could meet or one day be just as smart as he is

  • I totally disagree Ex-President Bush Should have Led this Country better FOcus on that.

  • Jump off a bridge

  • Well,if that ain't the steppin fetchit callin a black man coon.

  • No weapons of mass destruction over there but weapons of misdirection right here. U Betta Preach Doc.

  • LOL Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery is a trip. Love Him!

  • i love this, so clever, it flows so well, what an amazing speech

    amen rev dr lowery, amen!

  • Talk to em Rev!!! lol

  • An Omega Man for you

  • Satan has crept into the house of God (those political figures)

  • What was Bush Sr. and Jr. laughing about at the end of the is clip. The man just called you liars and oppressors of poor people. Get a look on Jr.'s face. Its was like they were old friends. May God have mercy on us all and may God bless the whole world. Amen

  • the look on bush's face was a cover. don't forget he knew he was being viewed by millions of americans and he had to cover his real feelings. you can bet that smile didn't carry over behind closed doors. i am glad lowery called him out. he was a totally waste as a president.

  • @THEOBC2315 agreed.... but the good Reverend's timing was inappropriate. In my ever humble opinion. This sad time wasn't the correct occasion for political commentary. And that goes for all the politicians on the stage as well! They made this a publicity stunt/event. Saddening!

  • @jevryday84 I think Mrs. Coretta Scott King would have been pleased.

  • @THEOBC2315

Cheap shot and undignified place to call out the Bush.

  • @chewbaca1989 Bush was in The King Family house of praise. He was welcomed there. But he is not, nor ever was, perfect in God`s eyes. Dr. & Mrs. King worked for Black freedom of speech. And it was the perfect time and place for truth to be haerd.

  • the government helped destroy MLK and yet today we see them sitting closest to his wife. The same people she was fighting against were honored at this funeral.

    odd....

  • Don't have anymore time to waste on someone who is clearly still living in the basement of his parent's house & has C4 stashed somewhere ready to bomb something or somebody because things didn't go their way.

Keep thinking you're right because you're white. (lol) Because in the end you don't get to judge, sweety, that's left to the Almight & I'm almost sure he doesn't look anything like Paul Rudd.

Anyway, gotta go. Keep hope alive & remember, it's a new day!

    CONTINUED...

  • But don't worry, I shall still love thy neighbor. (lol)

In the end, it's all ridiculous banter. 'Tis all!

    See ya later, hotshot!

  • yep, see you later Ms. Christian.

  • everyone is tellin me its just a joke!

    I can make jokes too!

    if its white its alright

If it's yellow, let it mellow

If it's brown, flush it down

If it's black, it sells crack clinging to the past !

    lmao!

i need a shit, hope it's not diarhea!

  • Rev. Lowery is a national treasure and a personal hero. He and Coretta Scott King were fellow laborers in the vineyard for many decades, and she would have been proud of his faithful and prophetic word to the powers and principalities surrounding him. Bravo!

  • The biblical allusions "laborers in the vineyard" & "powers and principalities" (Rom. 8:38) are a bit of a stretch here. Provide a little biblical exegesis here if you want to prove that Lowery's comments are indeed "faithful" and "prophetic." Because--and besides the fact that he's abusing the purpose of the funeral in general--if he wanted to obey the Christian Bible, (and esp. in George W. Bush's presence) he would honor Romans 13:1-7. He may disagree with the man but respect the position.

  • Read the rest of Romans 13 for a fuller understanding of Pauline political theology. Also, may I suggest one other biblical allusion--Isaiah 30:8-11. Prophets must speak difficult words to powerful people--it is a God-given role. Finally, the funeral service itself (like Paul's writing) is contextual. Rev. Lowery spoke to and from his context--including, not coincidentally since he knows them, the absolute most comforting words of the whole service toward the King children.

  • Thanks for suggestion. Now I suggest you read what actual authorities on Hermeneutics & Exegesis have to say regarding the passage, e.g., Gordon D. Fee (New Testament Exegesis: A Handbook for Students and Pastors--&--Pauline Christology: An Exegetical Theological Study) and A. Berkeley Mickelsen "Interpreting the Bible." Now, while I'll concede that a participatory democracy is a radically different thing from the government of which Paul speaks...

    CONTINUED...

  • ...in a participatory democracy, bad laws are to be changed and bad officials are to be ousted. Nevertheless, there is a very real respect that Paul uneqivocally calls all Christians to give because the position is instituted by God. For that reason alone, and notwithstanding political differences, Lowery should have done the respectful thing and omitted his political rant from his speech.

As far as your pointing me towards Isaiah 30:8-11, God is speaking to those...

    CONTINUED...

  • ...who are said to be "rebellious people, decetful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord's instruction" (Isa. 30:9 NIV). Are you then presupposing that those who disagree with Lowery concerning his political comments are "rebellious"? --that they should be likened to "deceitful children"? Far be it from me to put words into someone else's mouth but if this, in fact, what you're intimating then the burden of proof is on you to show why what you claim is true. I'll be waiting...

  • I don't think George W. Bush respected the position that he was given so, it goes both ways.

  • "I don't think George W. Bush respected the position that he was given so, it goes both ways. "

A typical response from someone who doesn't have an argument. Get George Bush on tape saying he didn't respect the position and I'll take you seriously. Otherwise, you can take the hasty generalizations (a logical fallacy in debating by the way) elsewhere. Thanks.

  • Of course we'll never hear Stone Cold Bush Jr. say he did wrong, but everyone knows because the past 8 years speaks for itself.

    So, thank you, Internet preacher.

  • Two things:

    1) never said I was religious. I just retorted to someone using the Bible making the claim that Lowery was a prophet...so keep the internet preacher comments to yourself

and 2) "everyone knows because the past 8 years speaks for itself."

This is actually a combination of two logical fallacies (once again the hasty generalization--"everyone," huh?) and another called the ad populum argument which is an appeal to the prejudices and emotions of the masses.

    So try again.

  • Yea, you wouldn't care about learning history so long as your pockets are fat.

And I'll comment however way I like, fat capitalist.

  • Oh yeah, I found another one:

Stone Cold Bush Jr.--this is called an ad hominem attack, which is an attack on the person rather than an actual argument against those things or ideas with which the person actually endorses or subscribes to.

Keep giving them to me AniLutu and I'll keep knocking them out of the park. Thanks.

  • You'd probably kiss your own ass if you could. Yea, he was a hominy, alright! lol You're too funny.

  • "Yea, you wouldn't care about learning history so long as your pockets are fat. And I'll comment however way I like, fat capitalist...You'd probably kiss your own ass if you could. Yea, he was a hominy, alright! lol You're too funny."

TRANSLATION: I have nothing else to say. You win.

    I think you're funny too.

  • What have you won? Oh that's right, the award for ignorance. Take it, it's yours.

  • It's a little too late to use humor as an attempt to mollify that nagging feeling that you just got owned AniLutu. Award for ignorance. For me, huh? Yeah, I'm the ignorant one here. I'm sure that'll be clarion clear to all those who read your "intelligent" comments. Good luck in life Ani. You keep your head up.

  • How slow can you be. Your comments are just so narcissistic, oh wait, let me use layman's terms so you can better understand- you're full of yourself.

The only thing you own is that bid head of yours that believes you're smarter than everybody and no one can respond to your idiotic comments.

Why do you bother to wake up in the morning. Do everyone a favor and hold your breathe for 10 minutes. Believe me, no ones gonna miss you.

  • Thank you Miss Sesquipedalian for helping me to tackle that tough word. Very kind of you.

And so because the word "ass" is in the Bible (notwithstanding the fact it is always used to refer to the animal and never used as a derogatory term), you feel like it's okay for a Christian to say it, huh? Interesting. Tell your pastor that you talked to an ass this week and let me know how he responds.

Word of wisdom: Sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil (Isa. 5:20 NLT).

  • You're welcome, Mr. Octogenarian.

My pastor would laugh if I were to tell him about you.

Try applying your own words of wisdom or lack thereof to yourself, 'cause it's apparent you need to practice what you preach.

  • Once, again you're confusing me for someone who's religious with the comment "you need to practice what you preach." btw the Octogenarian insert was a bit contrived. I'm actually 5 years younger than you (If your profile's correct in listing your age as 34).

Finally, I can see that you have nothing else to resort to except for these "sticks and stones" comments so I'll let you make the last "Christian" comment.

    CONTINUED...

  • You like using that word "CONTINUED" alot. Does it give you malicious glee to write stupid comments that you seem to think makes sense?

Gosh you're 29?! I don't believe it, but I believe it now. Couple of questions for you: How does it feel to be so jaded at such a young age? Does being cynical run in your family?

  • ...And you keep honoring Jesus when he says: "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples" (Jn. 15:8)

    AND

"By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" (Jn. 13:35).

Okay. And now for your "Christian" response.

  • "Do not judge, or you too will be judged" (Matthew 7:1)

Is that christian enough for you? Let me know.

  • why cant we the both of you let the situation go!!!!!!!! thats a better christian adult way to handle it!!!!!!! AMEN!!!!!!

  • umm...it sounds to me like you're the one that won't let the situation go. It's been over two weeks since I've commented on this video.

So...again, why don't you let it go. That would be an EVEN BETTER Christian way to handle it!!!!!! And again I say AMEN!!!!

  • Yes it is true that maybe Joseph could've said these comments in a better way, time, or place but they were true nonetheless.

  • I don't think he'd get another chance to humiliate the chimp in a public setting.

  • How ridiculous of you to say such a thing. Good day.

  • What?

Bush was a smirking jerk who lead us into an un-needed war and didn't give a shit when NOLA was drowning.

  • Oh I am so sorry for misinterperating you're comment. I thought you were saying something negative about Joseph Lowery.

  • Oh my.

No wonder you had such a reaction.

Chances are I would have done the same if I thought someone had said that about Rev. Lowery.

  • thank you for saying that

  • Comment removed

  • My remark was about W. and it was on the money.

  • when i heard it i almost jumped out of my seat!

  • The ass said, "Am not I thy beast, on which thou hast been always accustomed to ride until this present day? tell me if I ever did the like thing to thee."

Asses can be sassy and difficult to deal with Anilutu.

  • I just realized you used the word "ass" in the pejorative sense. I read your profile. Doesn't that kind of language viotate the Christian tenet of "let[ting] no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers" (Eph. 4:29). Tsk tsk. That's a shame for someone who lists the Bible as their favorite book. What a testimony.

  • The word ass is in the Bible and I referringin your case to the animal. Look the word up in a dictionary, you'll see a picture of a donkey by it. Looks familiar? lol

  • To claim that he is abusing the purpose of the funeral...when I listen to the funeral...seems to me to be a bit of a stretch. I don't know that we are called to obey the Bible as Christians, I thought that we were called to obey God as revealed in the Bible through the inspiration of the HS. Perhaps I am just not as bright as you. Your claim that he should respect the position is duly noted... perhaps if GW had shown the same respect I wouldn't be here writing a response.

  • george bush in the audience had a big ol dish of Humble pie!!

    HA HA HA!

  • Racist

  • My opinion of Lowery just dropped like a rock. You don't use a funeral to take a political slap at one of the attendees.

  • Keep in mind that he was only holding up the legacy of the KIng's not this BS that America passes off to negate the Preacher King ... truth crushed to earth shall rise!

  • Trelane, I agree completely. I assume we'll both continue to get those little red numbers beside the "thumbs up / thumbs down" icons. I don't care. Political opportunism at a funeral service (which is for the family/friends of the deceased) is, at best, disrespectful. I'm sure it made the crowd and a few Democrats happy (although a know a few Democrats that were equally appalled) but that doesn't negate the fact: this was wrong.

  • rev lowrey-you are a good and sincere man unlike all this politicians-those who are angry at you are bitter souls||by the way what is bush doing over ...

  • That boy bad!

  • This is one of the great men of The world .

    The Great Joseph Lowery.

This man is a huge hero of mine and if you could see what he has stood for in his life, you would be amazed

  • BRILLIANT . Just seeing Bush squirm makes my little heart go pitty pat.....

  • why was Bush up there??

  • Because no President or x-President came to MLK Jr.s funeral.

  • Well I know LBJ didn't like MLK after he came out against Vietnam, but what other President's were left? JFK was dead, I'm assuming Eisenhower and Truman were either dead or dying. They still should've been there, especially Eisenhower, but I can understand they were apart of the WWll generation so they felt no connection to MLK and the how Civil Rights movement of the 60s.

  • You make a good point.

    Still none came though.

  • Well I guess RFK would've been the only one if he hadn't been assasinated too before he was possibly elected. But you're right, it sucks that no one represented the office of the President at this funeral.

  • This old man is great. He was great at the inauguration, he was great here. He didn't do anything but tell the truth.

  • This is awesome.

his has got to have some big cahones.

  • This guy is a good man he has done more for the country than any of you who call him a raciest please do your research on a person before you decide to lench him because of a statement that could be taken out of context. He always rhyme at the end of his sermon the one at the inauguration was not approaite for the event

  • You'd have to come with us....unless your Native American...Are you? Doubt it....your folks nearly killed them all. Know your history bub!

  • Why ,who said america was white country ? Wake up and smell the coffee

  • You're confusing the Rev. with Rush Limbaugh.

  • reminds me of my grandpa - a preacher who even in his last moments on this earth never shied away from speaking the truth - no matter who, when, or where it was. truth above all.

  • and one more thing, speaking truth to power is not inappropriate, but necessary.

  • He knew Coretta personally for decades. I'm sure he, out of anyone, knew how she would approve or disapprove. Stop flaming a youtube video. She was a political individual, even if she did not always stand out as much as her famous husband. In that sense, a political funeral is exactly appropriate.

  • Dr Lowery is 87 yrs old, organized the Montgomery bus boycott (after Rosa Parks arrest) he is called the "dean of civil rights movement," one of the most popular black preachers in the country, outspoken...

Rev Lowery witnessed in his lifetime: MLK: "I had a dream," Obama:" I am the dream."

Through his eyes he has witnessed hate, segregation, racism for 100 lifetimes.

Dr Joseph Lowery is free to say anything anytime anywhere..period!! Freedom of speech & justice for all!!

  • Gee NO SHIT?? I thought the Constituion gave us ALL the freedom to "say anything anytime anywhere...PERIOD". Even the freedom to make a STUPID JACKASS MRON of yourself by saying stupid SHIT just like YOU DID. Get off your fuckin high horse ya dumbfuck.

  • You must have air between your ears or really young. I remember when water fountains and bathrooms were segregated for whites only and for colored. Read some history and video and you will become more enlightened young one.

  • Acceptance of all people, any color, any religion, any gender, any marriage same sex, freedom to speak of any side of any issue, this is what many have died in which we take so much for granted. In many countries you would be put to death, your tongue cut out, your entire family and relatives tortured or killed when you speak your mind. this is america and opportunity presents itself to all people or any race or political idealogy, it is a gift of democracy.

  • so, acceptance of any color except white? You people spew out this bs about freedom of speech and eq but would start looting & rioting if a white man were to say anything close to what this hypocrite stated. Slavery started in Africa by black chiefs, kings and sheiks. They kept slaves for themselves then they began exporting them to other countries.

  • acceptance of anyone except racists...people like you who show your true colors when you associate blacks with looting and rioting.

  • You are absolutely right about the history of slavery but with one exception. In Africa, slaves was not chosen by skin color but by class and warfare. The white man changed this aspect of slavery and institutionize oppression by race. The change to a race is much different then slavery by warfare or class. You can have pride in your white skin but don't distort history or say everybody is treated equally now. Its alot better but not equal.

  • Blame your ancestors for slavery and oppression not white America. After all,it is a little hard for blacks to complain about slavery and being not in power when their guy has the finger on nuclear bombs and is running the world now. That is when the real break will come and the blacklash as it will be black people lashing out at Obama making note he is not really black.

  • The man has paid dues we can't even imagine.

  • Jesus never hated people for the color of their skin or jeered at folks while preaching a funeral. This man is clearly not being led by our heavenly Father, maybe one day he will find him again but right now he is lost. To take advantage of a dead womans funeral for your political agenda??? Do you seriously think God endorsed that speech?

  • You people that respond and try to call Rev. Lowery names..I pray for you that you might one day be able to look upon courage...scratch that...it's not even courage because a man his age who has worked for the people, and has loved his people upon the command of his Father in heaven. Need not fear any man King or Fool. This is what speaking truth to Power looks like.

  • Consider it SCRATCHED.

  • you guys think he's so cute and Obama will be your black savior? There is a reason the people that follow our new "Prime Minister Obama" are such haters, figure it out. When your starving in the streets and getting shot by our own military, I hope u don't expect to have Obama save u because he will be the Marxist that sent them to do it. You will soon see. Have a laugh while you can but if I were you I would be doing my homework on how the Gov. is run.

  • The inauguration today was so forward looking, and then this dinosaur trots out a tired old rhyme that wasn't particularly clever the first time around. All the good he's done in the past doesn't mean he's above criticism for disrespecting the president at the funeral, and delivering a hacky benediction at the inauguration.

  • He is cool, has substance and a good sense of humor...

  • This guy fucking rules!

  • how is this moron given a microphone.

    idiot

  • You lack class just like Rush.

  • absolute disgrace,

  • yeah you are.

  • Listen folk, anybody over 75 gets a pass, even if you don't agree with them. Stop disrespecting your elders!!

  • He's over 86 isn't he?

It's hard to believe that some people actually expect him to never make any mistakes.

  • Grazon, you consider being a bigot and a racist a "mistake" do ya? Hmm....

  • When you're 86 you won't be able to tie your shoes.

  • Disrespecting your elders? This man is a disrespectful fool. He couldn't even show respect for the dead woman much less the 4 presidents that sat behind him. He is a foolish old hater. If you can't give respect then don't expect to get any!!!

  • You said it ALL yin88yang. It is really very sad that people are so bilnd they would follow this "false Messiah" right into the pits of hell. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  • wow! Now that's a speech!

  • How classless and racist.... Many of you people are disgraceful people... You all know who you are!!!!!!!!

  • his innaugeral prayer surpassed even the poem! FINE

  • The (boring lilith fair-type,urban-style flowery) poem wasn't hard to beat... *puke*

Anyway; LOWERY #1 !!!!!!!!!!! I loved his rhyming at the end of his inaugural speech, although it appears that for the occasion, he changed the "White" comment at its end (I seem to remember reading that he spoke that rhyme at a NC rally with Michelle Obama last spring, but rather said "when White will see the light", instead of "when White will embrace what is right". Whatever; the man SPOKE!

  • hahahahahaha OBAMA 2012! Michelle 2016 and 2020! "Little 4th of July-born" Malia in 2036! Sasha after that! hahahahahahaha

    *sigh, breathes, smiles*

Sorry 'bout that; just so gleeful today, seeing the grinning imbecile Texan board that chopper for the last fucken time and the devil incarnate in his sad little wheelchair and his sad little earmuffs.

    mmmwAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • what a disgraceful, classless human being

  • you are a disgraceful, classless idiot

  • such a wise man.

  • COREAtta RIP PEACE!! CONGRATS OBAMA AND REV RICK WARREN AND REV LOWRY! CANT WAIT TO SEE THE INAUGURAL PRAYER!! THATS WHY THIS WICKED NATION IS GOING TO FALL GAYS TALKING ABOUT RIGHTS - THE DEVIL IS A LAIR!!!! AND THE NATION WILL BOIL OVER IN HELL'S FIRE!!! I REBUKE YOU, THE REST OFTHE EVIL SUPPORTERS OF HARED!!! EVIL THINGS!! I SUPPOSE YOU JUST IGNORANT!!

  • Proverb31, what exactly are you saying? You congratulate the evil ones that are trying to make us embrace gays and partial birth abortions, so then who are the wicked?

  • Amazing speech...love how it rhymes!!
