Animals can be domesticated, but its not a good idea to keep them as a pet only because of the "instinct" factor. You never know when he hits a point where he'll snap at someone, its a risk, has nothing to do with the extent of domestication.

I have seen alligators and even one saltwater croc that were very docile. Crocodiles tend to be very snappy and caimans are more like crocs than gators in that regard. There was a woman in Kansas City who had about a dozen large caiman roaming in her house. She said they were tame and understood her. Her house was around 72 F, enough to keep them slightly lethargic. I think another 12-15 degrees and she would have been caiman chow. I would not handle any crocodilian like in this video

Cayman is an acceptable alternate spelling of caiman. I wonder what kind of air temp that guy keeps him in. I've never seen a caiman on the placid side unless it was slightly cool - just enough to stay lethargic without developing repsiratory trouble..

@CrocodileTooth That is really good point. I was wondering the weather is too harsh for caiman (cayman) to survive winters in Hiroshima, which it would not be below 30F degree (or -1C degree). However, almost no houses in Japan has central air conditioner, so I'm assuming it is pretty harsh for the caiman to live such environment, just like I'm living freezing Northeastern US.

@CrocodileTooth Japanese houses don't have central A/C usually, but they use heaters a lot. This Cayman is resting under a Kotatsu 0:23 (heated table), so that'd be pretty toasty. I'd be too scared to own one, but it's adorable!
