This original is far better than the Happenings more successful remake. When I hear this, I can genuinly picture a broken-hearted student saying goodby to his sweetheart. The Happenings' remake is decent but lacks that special aura of the original.

I'll take the Happenings' version of this song over this any day! Just a bit too schmaltzy for my taste. Granted, I like some music for the mid and late 1950s including some of the mellower stuff, but this just doesn't 'cut it' for me!

This is one of my top 100 ear worm songs. I don't know why but anywhere anytime when I least expect it "See You In September... and lose you, to a summer love." I don't care much for this genre of music but this song is the exception. I need to go hear The Happenings version. Thanks.

This is the original version of this song by the Tempos in 1959. It has more of a romantic charm than the remake by The Happenings in 1966. The Happenings' arrangement of this song reminds me of the Four Seasons style of singing.
