@KeelerMediaGroup :D Thank you. I am re-realizing how true that second statement is, as I try to recreate this look to give ritterlf1 an accurate rendertime :P
@KeelerMediaGroup Quite welcome, look up Estaban's Let yourself Feel, people have been trying to duplicate that masterpiece for ages, Basic elements like smoke, water, fire, etc are remarkably complex as you found out ;)
@TheCkyrocker There are a lot of tutorials on smoke simulation in blender out there already. Try "how to create an explosion" over at blenderguru (dot) com or google "blender diplom smoke drum" and see if those help. If not, let me know here or message me, and I'll see what I can do :)
@ritterkf1 I honestly cant remember, but I tried recreating this and it seems to take about an hour for calculating and one to two to render. I'm having a horrible time trying to recreate the material though :P
@sciman3 you did it awsome! no offence but u made a little tiny bit mistake to be real professional when the smoke risses to the top its hits the cube giving the cube look make that dissappear subbed u anyways :)
I dont hate it im just way too lazy to learn a new control scheme (i've had blender since 2008....i learned to use it in 2010....) and having the option to bring the old setting back could help
@sciman3 in my opinion, 2.49b is much better than 2.5... Its just becouse i cant get used to the new things in it, and i really hate the new space bar thing so you can search it. I wish there were some way around that
@2009MachineGun I imagine it would take getting used to. I kept up with it on SVN as it was being built, so I saw the changes as a slow progression, and got to be familiar with them as they came. As for the spacebar, you can change the hotkey mappings in the user prefs, so you should be able to make the spacebar do what Shift-A does....
@2009MachineGun shift A to add objects. at first i thought i would have to search 'cube' when spacebar, but then i found out shift A and its practicaly the same as 2.49 (minus the re arrangement of windows etc)
If its a problem you can make the window layout the same as 2,49 or just open a 2.49 blend and that should do it.
@JuniorProducer1996 my advice for you is, try using the 2.55 as much as you can and you will see that in short time yo will love it. i was the same like you, but after like two weeks i start feeling like i dont want using anything else. now i see the 2.49 and i think it's ugly. so keep working hard and you will see results.
@1998PloKoon Oh boy....this is old, so I cant remember for sure. It was probably around 70 with wavelet turbulance. I think. I'm sorry I cant remember much better than that.....
@Halfer1 Thanks :D. This is actually a feature built into the new (but still in develpment) blender 2.5. It is not made using the fluid simulator in blender....
Ya. Select the object you wanted the shadows to appear on, open up the shadows section of the materials panel (it is collapsed by defaut), and check the "recieve transparent shadwos" box. It should now work. If not, feel free to message me, and I will try to help you further :).
Thanks. Yes, I really should have framed it better. Umm, making the domain is one solution, but I have found that I then have to increase the resolution of the simulation, and then it takes longer to calculate.......
Hmm, ok true. There are a lot of settings I can still play with, I was mostly concentrating on getting the smoke to look more like the other videos I had seen and not like my other smoke video I have uploaded. I will see if I can tweak the dissipation settings.
Very nice work, ignore the haters, smoke is really hard to get right

@MrHitamina Could you explain what you mean by the "rendering doesn't look right"? Are you getting any smoke rendered? Or just a cube?

i know how to make it but everytime i start making SMOKE thats when it messes up and thats the only time it messes up

@SHADOWFREAK33 How do you mean it messes up?
sciman3 7 months ago
@sciman3 it starts going way slow then the screen turns black and then it says that blender is not responding
SHADOWFREAK33 7 months ago
@sciman3 omg i have to download the smoke simulator dont i?!
SHADOWFREAK33 7 months ago
@SHADOWFREAK33 Not sure I replied to you already, but no, if you have 2.5, you have the smoke simulator.

Feels like the domain should have been a bit bigger maybe? :)
robinon5 10 months ago
@robinon5 :P Ya. I kept it small, as it was just a test and smaller domains seem to calculate faster...

I wish you could keep the interface of 2.49........im not used to 2.5 and it screws up my work :/

Too bad we have to use bounding boxes
csavoy1 1 year ago
@csavoy1 just make your bounding box huge. All video games run in a Sky box/Sky sock. so you can make anything perfect outside of bounds.
