Toyota lost money on the supra because of so called tuners and warranty repairs, otherwise they would still be building them.

Now a days all the car makers foreign and domestic are building smaller turbocharged engines to make performance while maintaining gas mileage and there are less and less big v-8's on the showroom floors but the ones there are make big power .i.e the ZR1 stock is double a stock supra.

Toyota have given the green light for the new Supra to be made the FT-HS, now you wanna bring up a ZR1 LS9 Engine and compare it to a 2JZ? remember the 2JZ was made in 1991 and the LS9 which was made in 2009? @meattube4u33 1 thing i like about the 2 JZ is that the limit for it is about 1300 HP on pump gas; about the same as the LS9; since the LS9 is tuned to a further extreme its 638HP; but take that Supercharger off if you want to turbo it and it will hit about 1200 with new internals; about the same as the supra; You should watch the top gear episode when they did a review on the ZR1; he couldnt; control the car on the turns; the mid 400's HP audi R8 smashed it by a mile; I dislike that Audi too!

@meattube4u33 They were always making small turb o charged engines its nothing new; and those engines are completely different than the NA tuned V-8s you're comparing apples to oranges; and the Ligenfleter 6.3 ZR1 outputs about 1300HP maximum after it was completely converted to Turbo; do you know how common it is for a 2JZ 3.0 to hit 1300 HP; its the most reliable Forced induction engine ever made; and also the Nissan Skyline GTR 2.6 liter; they hit 1000HP all the dime; no problems of issues

The V-8 is not turbo ready. That is why the Mistu EVO makes 300Horsepower stock with a 2.0 4 banger; and the the 06 Mustang GT makes 300HP stock with a 4.6 V-8.

BTW supras are 30 grand used

Some of those blocks have been to 3,000hp and even more. The potential for these cars are much higher than a vette. Stupid "LS" series motors are still ancient pushrods. First thing to go. There is a guy down here in florida with one at 1758hp with 74k miles. Never broke down or blown up. GTFO stupid uneducated asshat.
