  • 'Let's have some fun" ...

You're my Bob Ross of Portrait Painting.. making it sound simple, but with enough background that makes it entertaining and educational. Thank you for all these practical and funny (in a good way) videos.

  • this is nice... but you should label the first videos as "theory introduction to drawing" or something... "how the brain and the eye works towards drawing"

  • are the paintings behind you, your own??? they look stunning!

  • Okay so if we all have different cones and stuff do we all see the same color? Like if I see green you would be seeing my red? You just learn it like red blue green whatever so you just accept it. That would be intresting to find out.

  • did he really said if you like me your eyes and your lenzes(??) ar all messed up?

  • This is good dude!

  • Good Teaching and Great job pal thanks

  • Haha, he said rod.

  • that's lots of valuable iformation and it's all important information u should know, he's doing something amazing here, he's summarising for u people years and years of training in collegue, and he's doing it very well, you should be thankful he was kind enough to take time for this, so have some patience and if you really are interested in learning the tecniques, pay atention to the basics, foundations are the most important, knowledge it's like a building it has to have a base for support.

  • i want to learn about drawing not eyes

  • @xxALEC9889xx you have to learn how to see before you can draw.

  • there something i was thinking about the other day its pretty much like what you saying

we probably dont see all colors the same, example: your green is my red and thats why some people have favorite colors

im only 14 so i dont really what im saying but what ever

  • Comment removed

  • @dude12345274 lol I thought that too. :P I think its all about perception, because we can't all possibly have all the same neurone mapping so we can't all perceive the same.

    I'm 14 to so I barely have a clue.

  • @dude12345274 I kinda understand what you're saying. I sometimes think about that stuff too and than I think like, what the hell am I thinking about and than I stop thinking about it :D

    I'm only 13 btw.

  • you would be a good science show host

  • 1:46 LMAO xD

  • great video, love your way of presenting how we see art!

  • this guy.. is good.. :)

  • You have the gift to explain man

  • You have the gift to explain man

  • I don't understand everything , but you are great :D

  • Very insight full

  • All the great people were called fool or stupid once. So just ignore some comments. you are getting more blesses then hatting words. ;)

  • wow if i hadnt understood how the eyes work in biology class, id have understood it now :P

  • haha you fell.

  • U r so creative..and funny. Hah Thank you

  • AMAZING, I AM BRASILIAN WOMAN , CONGRATULATION TO YOUR WORK! eu adoro seu trabalho, eu amo desenho! Quando vier ao Brasil quero muito conhece-lo...Abraços...Sorry, but I don't speak your language very well...good...bye, smuack...

    :)

  • there's so many people charging like 150$ + for these kinds of lessons, I for one appreciate you for doing these.

  • Is he a teacher for "real"? If not than he should be. Reminds me of Mark Kistler with the easy way he explanes things. Keep up the great work.

  • what a great teacher!! Art lessons with out all the pompous language that you can find in the art community.

    thank you.

  • You are amazing! Really really awesome :)

  • You are loved!!!

  • This and many of your other videos help me so much. I've always struggled in art classes because my teachers never went into depth about how everything works. I was expected to apply techniques without any understanding of why I had to. This clears up a lot of that frustration, thanks so much! Keep making videos!

  • i say BRILLIANT !!!

  • 1:46-1:51

OH GOD I CANT STOP LAUGHING

    that was briliant xD

  • you're awesome , thanks forn the videos

  • its 4am monday morning, and i'm listening to his lecture... oh yea its quite trippy

  • Your background is amazing, i love it!

  • very nice series, learning how to do portraits right now!

also, very cool looking paintings in the backgronud, are those your work ? and are they acrylic paintings or what ?

  • haha at the headstand :D

  • Bruva u r a genius !!

  • omg this has totally reminded me of our first year Psychology course from University! We learned about the sensory receptors in the eye as well. It's truely amazing how our brains an eyes function!

  • his words ar worth more than drawing, you can learn mutch from the things he says

btw, thx for al the info, inspiration and teachings u gave me :D

    greetz nicetie35

  • your the man for cutting to yourself standing on your head.

  • yeah i agrée lionessgurl

  • O i thought u were gonna show somthing n realy teach not talk

  • You will learn more from his talking than his drawing.

  • 1.50 was hilarous! :D

  • love the background ;D

  • you are such an inspiration , and i cant stop watching your video .

its like u cover all the areas , and some how u make sens .

BTW love the paint at the back , did u make it ?

  • Thanks. Your videos have inspired me. Thanks for sharing your insight.

  • You are brilliant! don't mind the negative comments

  • great video ^-^

  • i bet this guy loves his acid

  • YOU ARE SUCH AN INSPIRATION

    great videos

    thank u sooo muchhhh

  • that image in the back ground is nice

  • oh god, you are my inspiration, you are great!. now, i'm your fan! love you!

  • Nobody has the right to criticize Jason he's a fucking genius.

  • You're rude, and a liar. I have a 4.3 G.P.A. and I'm an artist.

  • What does your g.p.a say about you?.. Just wondering what you have to say to that ..

  • im trying to make the point that it doesnt matter that's all

  • oh cool that's what i think of it too .. but its just easy to get it up by handing things in that ...it would be stupid for someone not to turn things in ..

  • g.p.a doesnt tell anything about how smart/dumb u are....real smart people are the ones that realize things other people dont....people with good grades jus have the time to memerize the things that the "smart people" discovered/relize......

  • thx for the helpful insight, its all too true

  • it's just that you don't understand what he is talking about. most of what he is saying is correct

  • much more watchable than the 1st one

  • he is right with the pshysiological descriptions.

  • For those who dont get it it, he is trying to say that in orther to draw well we must force ourselfs to see things like they realy look, not like we percive them.

Our brain translates the "game of light and shadow" in meaningfull shapes (such is face). In order to draw well, we must force our brain to se the light, shadow and collors that represent an object.

  • It's odd, I try to make myself do that, even on non-face objects, but I can't seem to tell (unless its obvious) what's more or less shaded than another part of the same object. For example, a piece of cloth, I get the basic shading, but i can't do more detailed shading. i try to fake it and do okay, but it always comes out looking fake.

  • Omg same here...once i learn to see the shadows and stuff...and know when and where to use them ..i'll be able to move up a step in the art world ..i've always drawn cartoons ..like disney and all that good stuff ..but i want to move up and actually draw realistic things...

  • nice explanation lol ++

  • why were you on your head bro haha. these vids are helpful a lot. thanks!

  • wow. science and art class in the same time

  • no im in school... it's ok ... i think i will manage so far right now.... but from what people say i guess he is a good teacher... im not hear to write bad comments... =).. i do find it hard sometimes to translate stuff lol... coolness... thanks for the thingy lol.. =)

  • hehe 'hear'

  • maybe i need more metaphorical sentences in my life .....=/... i didnt understand some of the stuff

  • or maybe you need to go back to school and sharpen your comprehension

  • since when does school teach that

  • great

  • Thank you for these videos :) it makes everything more simple.

  • yu r god !

  • yay! learning the anatomy of the eye ~_~

  • lol he lost footage XD

    Thanks for the vid

  • i like the simplicity and efficiency of his videos, plus hes an amazing artist

  • rly nice. i like it to hear you. you seem to like it and that's why i have fun with watching this :) i hope i will learn to draw

    good job :)

  • omg, i love you

  • @ the people who want him to be more simple... how simple can it get? Are you stupid? lol

  • holy crap, what's your major? lol

i just learned about the eye in bio, this is cool!

    goodjob!

  • I see myself as a artist in the mere future.... Thank you...... I hope that this helps my portraits.....My sister and law is a artist and I look up to her...Maybe I will make a request it to her... Thank you for teaching me.....100/100 Nice job. Your knowledge is to be respected.

  • I love the fact, that you know so much, and that you actually know how to tell other people about it.

I have a teacher, who no doubt is a genius, but he just does not know, how to teach.

So thank you for that ;)

  • I agree. You may know somthing, but it is even harder to explain to someone....However, you must still respect the ones that do know more than you...Because some things are hard to explain. Great series, great vid 200/200

  • you are a genius.

  • LOL you are a sweetheart !

  • LOL It would be epic if my art teacher would head stand xD love your vids!

its not JUST drawing some cool stuff on a paper its more than that and you obviously don't get it.

  • great vid. the background behind you is amazing!!

  • do you teach art or biology lol?

  • This is awesome we get explained a damn lot of great technics. Subscribed,

  • Your very entertaining and you have lots of nutritional value in your lessons. It's not that hard to understand you either which is great. :)

  • 1:46 lol

  • ahahaha, good example! =D I was laughing for a while after :P

  • did you paint that background?

  • wow, you have just shown us how to look at art in a whole new. Thanks man you are really smart

  • haha are you a optomatrist?

  • This episode covers value, contrast, and some optical illusions. You'll be happy to know this is this last all talking episode with no doing.

read the damn description instead of watching videos trying to find a reason to bitch

  • I'm an artist with degrees in art & art history, so trust me: this guy is an excellent artist who knows what he's talking about. Welcome to art school! I salute him for having the generosity to freely share what is worth a professor's paycheck. Bravo. P.S. Lon Haverly is doing something similar, but this channel will likely be more fun.(I can't see Ron doing a Nu-Numa video.)Keep up the awesome work!

  • do they teach this stuff in art school? i mean the stuff about how the eyes work and how the brain process images etc

  • You get bits & pieces of this info in art classes & biology/anatomy classes. It takes a really good art teacher to bring it all together, usually at the university level.

  • I depends on the school but how eyes work is usually not teached in art schools. It's also quite irrelevant to learning how to draw.

  • omg, ive never sat and listened to a guy talk about the colour grey before...now i know why

  • ROOOOOOOOOOOOFL!

  • this is cool

    hahahaha

    hope ur head is ok

  • I absolutely love this series you've come up with. I'm a beginning artist still, and I love to draw but I'm more of a science kind of gal. So I love how you've but it into more of a language that I can understand.

    Thanks for making these videos!^___^

  • it's 11:50pm and i have to wake up at 5am tomorrow morning but i wanna keep watching your videos!! I can't wait to see the rest.. i'm gonna keep thinking about it at school and it's gonna bug me!! when i get home i'm jumping straight on the computer and watching all your tutorials! :)

  • Hot damn! It's like 1:30 AM and I'm all out of it, but the whole peripheral vision fovea no-color thing made me scream "WOAH!!!" That's so freakin' cool! I've learned (learnt, whichever you prefer ;) ) more 3 minutes into this video than I have in a month at art class. I'm going to start from episode one tomorrow. You have yourself a faithful follower.

  • thank u so much, I learnt alot

  • Don't be such a dick. "Learnt" is British, "learned" is American. You're a captious idiot.

  • Guys Leave Him Alone He Made a little typo, everyone makes typos! i make typos all the time, we still get what he was trying to say, hes rusian! welcome him, dont hate on him.

  • i have some broken cones :(

  • rofl :P

  • I'm no jim nist lol love these tutorials man.

  • He is a teacher, he is teaching us!?
