  • once the cab is de-energised it initiates a timer that shuts down the engines usually after 15mins of idling.

on some of the 156s 1 engine will shut down & the other remains ticking over.

very strange but it only seems to happen on certaain 156s.

  • wow listen tht cummins engine ive been on many of these and i have to go were the engine is coz it just sounds amazing, how come limestreet was empty and no one was on the 156

  • It was the middle of the day so no peak timw travellers or trains, sounds good towards the end of the video. I like to sit at the end where the engine is too.

  • ohhh i get it :) thanks for explaining :), how come some of the drivers shut down the engine and restart it it puzzles me alot

  • that will be the throttle, when you don't hear much it is just idling and not accelerating.

  • WOW she was struggling! Gd vid!

  • It don`t sound too healthy

  • Where was that 156 headed for.

  • Wigan I think

  • northern rail trains are cool even though they are 20+ years old

  • Better than our 50 year old diesels in Auckland (NZ)...

  • Wot you didn't record the train running at full later later down the line getting off in the slower end to liverpool at Wavertree Technology park Station! Watch out for the train bouncing on Astley moss though!

  • I was only needing to go to Wavertree sorry, got plenty more older 156 footage from earlier years I hope to get up here sometime, but have to acquire it all from old videos first, keep coming back.
