  • fantastic video.

  • i can has ur team edward shirt?

  • Well, Lindsey the Nerdiest: this was intriguing. I agree. How uninteresting.

  • Hi, I'm Aurora and I literally have to have a LIST of all the fictional characters I'm in love with. Which reminds me.......*adds Augustus Waters to List of Fictional Characters That I Am In Love With*

  • I am in love with Anatole Ngemba from the Poisonwood Bible, Mr. Thornton from North and South

  • 2:50 yes. subscribed

  • Hi, my name is Kate and I am in love with the 10th Doctor.

  • @Katethepineapplegirl Who isn't? :D

  • thank you for the awesome video. It got me thinking about my own story

  • ya, after reading the hunger games i have been suffering from a crush on peeta.....

  • You're so right. No one liked Riley. xD

  • nice video

  • @theOman333 Thanks!

  • Yep. Yep. I have fallen in love with many a fictional character. Sherlock, John, The Doctor, Jack Donaghy, Ben Wyatt.... I'll stop there.

  • @brenna963 *squeee!* I thought I was the only person in the world who loved Jack Donaghy and Ben Wyatt! I also love The Doctor and Sherlock and John, but I know for a fact that other people do, too. :)

  • @ThatOneChick2021 Jack is so attractive... for 52. But really I guess it's kinda creepy how much older than me he is. But he's still attractive so whatever. Ben Wyatt is just about perfect! He's so hot and is the most amazing boyfriend and he's super nerdy <3

  • Hi my name is Tania and im in love with Sherlock. Benedict Cumberbatch is ok too i suppose.

  • Boys do that too......

  • Hello, my name is Sharon, and my expectations of real-life men have forever been ruined by fictional characters.

  • ...they killed paris

  • Yeah, Pinkie Pie, eeeeh

  • My name is Tori and I am in love with several fictional characters, their occupations range from student, blind kings, wizard, and The Doctor. I love them all, forever. Their stories are tragic and I know they aren't real. I can fantasize about them. My mind is my own. No person can tell me otherwise.

  • Hi, my name is Ciaren and I fall in love with fictional characters. ALL THE TIME. After a few months of me finishing the book or whatever I tend to get over it, but if I think about the character I still feel a bit of love, unless it's years later then I'm kind of over it. But it's disturbing and there really should be support groups. I mean, I'm crazy.

  • Wait Leo doesn't die. At the end of the Titanic it shows him in the ocean, but at the beginning of Inception it shows him landing on a beach just fine ;)

  • I like how you realize how irrational it is, talk all about the ridiculousness, and then admit you do it too.

Hi, my name is SuperChalek, and I fall in love with fictional characters.

  • you know what i hated about titanic...if kate had just done what leo had told her to do and gotten on that life boat, he could have floated on that door, gotten saved and made his way to america to live a long life with his girl. but, no.. she had to...whatever. women. sigh... dftba

  • I wanna know what your shirt says.

  • @McDicksRocksSocks

    "Haikus are easy.

But sometimes they don't make sense.

    Refrigerator." Heheheh.

  • "Let's face it.. Nobody ever liked Riley!" So very true. Always been and always will be a Spuffy fan <3

Also, bloody love this video. it's so true and I can understand it so much. Thanks for being awesome.

  • References to X-men charecters for the win!

  • I didn't realize how bad i had it until i watched this video. Makes me kinda sad :(

  • Austen man: Mr. Darcy

    Buffy: Angel

    Grey's Anatomy: Meredith/Derek or Mark/Lexie

    Hunger Games: Peeta

    ...

    ...unhealthy.

  • I'm completely and totally in love with Peeta Mellark from "The Hunger Games" He's just.... ugh. There are no words.

Yup. I officially need a support group. I love your vids. Keep them up!

  • I deal with it through fanfiction.

  • Harry Potter fans were almost as crazy as Twilight fans. On the internet, Harry/Hermione shippers bashed author JK Rowling unmercifully towards the end of the series, when it became apparent that Hermione was going to end up with Ron.

  • @DisappearingBoy88 Funnily enough, Ron Weasley is one of the fictional characters that I'm in love with. Which means that I may be biased. But I think that it was pretty clear pretty early in the series that it was going to be Ron and Hermione in the end. Maybe it was just me, though.

  • @LindseytheNerdiest It was clear you're right! i noticed ever since the second book :P

  • This is a fantastic video!

I fall in love with fictional characters all the time.

  • @tallatstarbucks Thank you!

  • Personally I really liked The Time Traveler's Wife (the book, but the movie was okay). I rooted for the couple to stay together, and they sort of did. :)

  • @KirneH004 I loved "The Time Traveler's Wife" because it reflected the dynamics of real relationships pretty accurately, in my opinion. It wasn't all sunshine and puppies. They were believable, round characters with actual, realistic issues. You know, in addition to that whole not-so-real part.

  • @LindseytheNerdiest Yeah, if a story isn't true to the established "mythos" around it, I'm the guy with the huge red flashing question mark over my head. Twilight is trying to make vampires "safe"-- but vampires ARE NOT FREAKING SAFE. I go for the classic Christopher Lee Dracula almost every time because that's who they have been up to Steph Meyer trying to castrate them.

  • Well, almost everyone I know loves a fictional guy, but the one I am freaking out over in twice my age. Yea...... Sad, but I love his past and over all snarky-ness . he always seems to be the bad guy but he never is. Well mostly bad.The image of bad ass.

  • @gamesgirl455 We all have our weaknesses...Mine are sweetheart nerd-boys and wounded souls that I just want to heal.

  • You probably won't see this, being that you've got so many comments to sift through but I was just thinking about the same topic and couldn't agree more with what you said. Maybe it's unusual, being that I'm a guy but I find that the one person in the world I relate most to, is a fictional TV character named Ally McBeal and the idea that being a hopeless romantic dreamer or ascribing emotional weight to daily interactions as reflecting what the world thinks of us, are OK. So where can I sign up?

  • @ShermanVids I actually try to respond to as many of the comments on my videos as I can, so thanks for taking the time to write one. And unfortunately, I don't think there's an actual support group, yet. But according to the other people on here, we're in agreement that there should be.

  • With me, I never fall in love with a fictional character that has a girlfriend. Don't ask me why but I don't.

  • @emeraldmaria I don't actually have it written out at this time... I'll probably vlog about it at some point, tho. =D

  • Woww! Okay your videos are amazing. This is so entirely true. I never thought about it that way.

Hi. My name is Kitka and I fall in love with fictional characters, particularly Jace, Snape, Peeta, Gale and Gerard Butler!!!

  • Hi, I"m Brooke, and I fall in love with fictional characters.

    Kind of...

except it's not really love, the way I see it. You're not even in love with the person, just the idea of the person. Real love is when you compromise and dislike things and have fights, but always make up afterwards.

(couples I love: Alec and Magnus, Snape and Lily, Sirius and Remus, Ginny and Harry, Howl and Sophie, Kurt and Blaine...)

  • Hi. I love you (platonically).

My type consists of Gerard Butler AND fictional characters though!

But I really loved what you said and how you said it.

  • Comment removed

  • "Because, let's face it, nobody ever liked Riley." SO TRUE.

  • you are awesome ...

  • 1. I love this. It's so true! People fall in love with fictional characters and become extremely attached to them! 2. Hello, my name is Grace, and I also fall in love with fictional characters.

  • I LOVE this SO TRUE. And i saw your gone book. good taste as well :D

  • Is that 'Gone' on the bookshelf I see???? Yes it is!! My friend, you have a good taste in books. =)

  • SIRIUS BLACK. 'nuff said.

  • I think there is a deeper, more serious issue at play here. It seems western women's increasing critical attitude towards men is in danger of reaching a point where they only deem celebrities/fictional characters good enough to be with them. This appears to be an even worse progression from the 80/20 scenario we've been experiencing since the 90s (80% of the girls only chasing 20% of the guys).

  • Hi, I'm Paigan and I'm in love with the eleventh doctor.

  • OHMYGOD. TITANIC. YES. SHARE THE DOOR, KATE.

  • I think the reason I read fanfiction is so i can have the Character, the Relationship and the Situation all at the same time.

  • @missNCISfreakk Yes. Just yes.

  • @1snow0bunny1 Thank you so much! And thank YOU for existing.

  • X-Men reference.

    Bashing of Riley.

Pointing out the flaws in the Rome-Juliet relationship.

I think we may be the same person. It's kind of freaking me out.

But in all seriousness, this was awesome. :)

  • @MissAmbermine It's possible. And thank you!

  • FISH!!! HAHAHAHA.... PUMPING!!!!! HAHAHAHA...

  • so I have to relate "real world" things to what i've been learning in psych and i'm seriously considering compairing your video to the maslow hierarchy of needs thing, but i'm not sure exactly what my teacher will think of "emotional porn"

  • yes, they kill Paris. awesome video by the way! very interesting (:

  • Sam Winchester.

  • Hi t. I form attachments to fictional characters. I do not have a problem.

    Your video is awesome.

And, yes, @LIndseytheNerdiest, (SPOILER) Paris dies. They get in a sword fight at the Capulet tomb, and Romeo slays him.

  • I always wanted Xander from Buffy more than either of the vamps.

  • Hi, our names are Crystal and Jessica. We too have fallen victims of being in love with fictional characters. (i.e. Fred Weasley)

  • Ahaha its true, no one liked Riley on Buffy...I couldn't wait till his character died or got sent away..I was like WINNNNN! Also true about the crushes... totally fan girl crushes on Spike, but mines gone into the 'well i love the actor too' so I watch anything James Marsters is in.. >_>

  • I'm writing an essay about this exact subject, and I wanted to make the allusion to this video and refer to all of this, as emotional porn. But alas, Catholics school, and really my teacher wasn't happy that I was making references to porn in my essay.

  • @sakauyeproductions I take it "emotional masturbation" wouldn't go over any better?

  • @LindseytheNerdiest I don't think so, unfortunately I've ended up scrapping "emotional porn" to simply saying reading certain books can give you a sense of self-fulfilment in an intimate view. Abstract intimacy of course. Other wise that would be quite awkward.

  • I definitely have my Grey's Anatomy couple: CALZONA. I'm obsessed.

  • wow. my list of fictional character crushes is WAY too long now that I think about it!!

  • @17marypoppins You're not alone in that. Trust me. Hahahaha.

  • My top fictional character crushes: Rory Pond (Doctor Who), Neville Longbottom, Topher Brink (Dollhouse), Spike, Flynn Rider (yes, from Tangled), and Peeta.

And hey, Riley isn't that bad! :)

This video is incredibly eloquent and so true. I'm okay with loving fictional characters, though, because I know the difference between them and real people. Also, it's fun!

  • mindfucked me for sure

  • @Comocks In a good way, I hope?

  • i thought of that so meny times and the fact that you actually made a grate video about it makes watching this so much awsomer!!!

  • lion king is my emotional porn

  • Romeo was a creeper and Juliet was lame. At least, in my opinion

Fictional charecters are amazing, and I hope to God I can find someone as flawed and sexy and adorable and cruely human as those that I have fallen in love with in the fictional stories we worship

  • You apparently cut out mentions of Harry potter so just asking, which characters did you fall in love with? You don't even need to put why, just list them.

  • @VanillaOrchid95 Out of Harry Potter, I'm ALL about Ron. I just adore him. He's a sweet, awkward, underappreciated guy that's fiercely loyal, but isn't afraid to call people on their crap. Definitely a winner.

  • I've never "fallen in love" with a fictional character, I think I love most of them like brothers or best friends. I could never see them as something else xd

  • @andrea121993 Maybe you just "friend zone" fictional characters...Hahahaha.

  • @LindseytheNerdiest exactly! Well, at least that way they won't hurt me. Unless they die, it always gets to me.

  • Peeta.... :D

Anyways, I really really enjoyed this video. I think I find it super awesome mostly because I'm a girl too and I can totally relate :D I shall subscribe now ;)

  • @AMessofPickles Thanks!

  • Also, this was probably my favourite Nerd Factor video. Well done! I hope you keep making such great videos.

  • @Raconteur Thank you so much!

  • Snape, anyone?

  • Can you PLEASE tell me what the shirt you're wearing says?

This makes me really.. really curious.

  • @BluesGlenn10 It says "Haikus are easy/ But sometimes they don't make sense/ Refrigerator" ...I'm an English major...It happens...

  • @PaintedPairs Finnick was just awesome. And SOOOO interesting.

  • SPIKE :D hehe

  • How come such an obvious topic has never been discussed before?! You're made of awesome! And what does your tshirt in this vid say?

  • @LalaTheBunny Because most people have actual lives. Hahaha. And the t-shirt says "Haikus are easy/ But sometimes they don't make sense/ Refrigerator." Did I mention I'm an English major...?

  • I completely agree. Riley? No. Just . . . no.

Although, for the record, I loved both Spike and Angel and thought she was awesome with both of them.

    Who's your favorite fictional character?

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who's ever thought about this subject! You are so detailed and concise! :D

  • @RosePetalsFalling I actually started out with between fifteen and twenty minutes of raw video, so I don't know if "concise" is exactly the word that should describe it, but I'm glad it was entertaining.

  • There are a few people who liked Riley best, including me.

  • You are a GODDESS. This is PERFECT.

  • @sophiafied Hahahaha. That may be a bit of a stretch, but thank you very much!

  • Favorite Line: No One Like Riley! Pretty Flipping Funny!

  • Team DARCY mofos!!

  • lady death strike

    ftw

  • @captainmahoney127 She's extremely underappreciated. What can I say?

  • This is the SHIZ-NIT!!!

  • @Tevapox Thanks!

  • I loved Riley! Now that that's out of the way. I completely agree with pretty much everything you said. I think that we DO need support groups. So... Hello, my name is Bo-Dara and I fall in love with fictional characters.

  • i had the weirdest feeling that ugly betty has come to life (her personality not her appearance)

  • @boxrokmysox I've never seen that show, but I feel like I would like it, so I'm gonna take that as a compliment. Thanks!

  • I'm guilty..... I raped the replay button.....

  • Yes, they killed Paris.

  • I too fall in love with fictional characters, but I have realized that I cannot break them away from their canon partner. Let me give an example: I am in love with Edmond Dantes aka the Count of Monte Cristo. As much as I love him, I feel guilty fantasizing about him because I am aware of his relationship with Haydee. -sigh- curse you guilt!

  • @sempervolovidere Definitely get that. I love Gilbert Blythe from "Anne of Green Gables," but I would never take him away from Anne 1) because she's just awesome in every way and 2) I wouldn't be able to if I tried.

  • @KobayashiMaru89 haha someone who gets it yay!!!

  • .......................I AM GUILTY !

  • @auntyraray Aren't we all?

  • Hi, my name is Emma and I've fell in love with InuYasha of a Japanese series O_O

    I'M GONNA WATCH IT NOW!

  • Hi, I'm Sophia and I'm irrevocably in love with Harry Potter and Jay Gatsby.

Also, OMFG. PETER AND THE SHADOW THIEVES IN THE BACK. NEW FAVORITE PERSON.

  • @Summerwind159 That series is a combination of two of my favorite things: Peter Pan and Dave Barry.

  • Hi, my name is Nirali, and I am in love with fictional characters such as Ron Weasley, Noah Puckerman, and Xander (whose last name I can't remember. Yeah, I have a thing for the sidekicks...awesome video!

  • @firewordsparkler Xander's last name is "Harris," and I can certainly get behind all of those choices--I have a thing for underappreciated characters. And thank you!

  • You're preaching to the choir, I've been in love with so many fictional men I stopped kepping track xD btw I love your videos and I'm totally subscribbing.

  • Hi. My name is Jen and I am in love with Mr. Darcy. He's the first man I ever fell in love with and he has given me unrealistic expectations.

  • Hi, my name is Katie and I"

  • Hi, I love fictional characters too. <3

  • My name is Rose and I am in love with Severus Snape.

My love for him began at age six. Strange indeed that I loved him before I heard the sexy voice of Alan Rickman. But people (including myself) have a strong tendency to think long and hard about the characters presented. However greasy and douchey Snape was, one is inclined to think about what makes him behave in such a manner.

Love for fictional characters is okay so long as an unhealthy obsession does not arise.

  • @rosieeb123 A very wise fifteen-year-old once told me that "inside every cynic is a frustrated romantic," and that was DEFINITELY the case with Snape--though it would do him a disservice to say that that was the only characteristic that made him as complicated and fascinating and wounded as he was. I was never in love with him, I can definitely understand the attraction to the interesting sarcastic guy with the wounded soul.

  • My little sister is an amazing writer, and she always makes me fall in love with at least one character.

  • omg i love this woman XD i do become attatched to fictional characters but i know the difference between real life and fantasy, but i love what she says about Romeo and Juliet!! XD so true...

  • Romantic? More like stupid. On one side we have a young talented artist who is going to arrive in the new world, opening endless possibilities for him. And on the other we have Rose. Who, lets face it, looks good and has money but her death would be no loss to the world as there are thousands of others like her.

Now thats what I call a bad romance.

  • @Thoran666 She definitely has spunk though. And that's a quality that I will always appreciate.

  • Hi, my name is Michelle, and I fall in Love with fictional characters.

Like Jace Wayland... and Simon Lewis..

  • :0 YOU LIVE IN AZ TOO! i love you. haha I like the way you think!!! Subscribed!!

  • @soarfree402 I don't actually live in Arizona, anymore. I lived there for my senior year in high school, but now I'm back in Indiana. And thank you!

  • way to true for me, damn harry potter characters

  • @ivewired Preach it! Been there...

  • True True.

  • Uhm, St Clair from Anna and the French Kiss? Yeah. Defs a problem.

  • One of my favourite parts of this video (besides the fact that you are fantastic at blogging) is that you have gone on the shelf behind you(:

  • I like Buffy, but I've always been team Xander!

  • I am Milou and I fell in love with Severus Snape. :$

  • I'm just slightly in love with Clive from Professor Layton. Just a tiny bit.

  • THANK YOU. Romeo and Juliet is NOT the epitome of love stories. I used to think it was so romantic and the ending was actually kind of happy because they got to BE TOGETHER, but I've grown up a bit since then. Though I certainly do fall in love with fictional characters.... :)

  • I fell in love with Mercutio rather than Romeo when watching Romeo and Juliet. That has made my type self destructive and crazy...

  • I fall in love with fictional characters too :( but for some reason I try to hold myself back at first yet I always end up hanging onto them anyway!

P.S. I spy Gone on your bookshelf! I've read some of the series but tell me, is it all good? :D

  • Hi, I'm Emma and I fall in love with fictional characters :(

  • I must say, I love Lara Croft.

  • @icesamurai8 In the game, the movie, or both?

  • @LindseytheNerdiest Oh Wow (Didn't Think You'd Reply), The Game And Comic Books (And Novels). I Disliked The Movie Lara Because ... Well It Seem Fake. The Love I Have For Lara Is There But It Comes With The Understanding That Its Not Real, Seeing Lara In A Motion Picture Just Seems Fake. Plus I Thought Angelina Jolie Was The Worst Person They Could Have Picked.

  • @icesamurai8 At the same time, hooking up bungee cords in the middle of your house and spinning through the air? Win. Definite win.

  • We should make Fish-pumping a thing. Just to confuse people.: P

  • I had the exact same problem with Titanic! If Rose had just shifted her weight, they both could have made it.

  • @mariahrose210 Exactly! But for the record, Kate Winslet is still a boss.

  • @LindseytheNerdiest True dat

  • I am in love with the boys in whichever book I'm currently reading. Thank you for finally putting into words the reasons why boys in books are just so addictive. Amazing vid :)

  • @IntoTheMystic19 Thank you!
