wont see butch in Rivet City in my game, i killed him when he begged me to help his mom.. thats what he gets for making me feel bad on my 10th birthday

i made Butch my follower then i left him with the Super Mutant Behemoth and i closed the door and i saw the follower warning then i looted all of this stuff and i ran from the behemoth then i came back and sniped the behemoth and i almost forgot to t bag butch

Once I saved his mom, opened the vault in the side quest, but he never appeared in rivet city and I was like :<

The second time I played, he appeared in the bar, but that was with my evil character and I tried to mezz him and sell him to the slavers.

I couldn't mezz him, cos his head exploded or he turned hostile and I was like :<

So I had to realize Butch is a complete asswipe.

you can recruit butch only if you have a neutral karma, you can recruit him if you already have a follower, if you fire butch you must lose your other follower and go back to neutral karma if you wish to recruit him again - fallout 3 wiki

IT doesnt matter about his mom. It matters about how you finish the return to vault 101 quest. He will only talk to you if you sabatoge the vault. Bethesda forgot to remove the bug where he is rivet city een if u leave the vault closed

first go on with the game normally then once u get a quest which you get automaticly thru the story line called the waters of life beat that quest then goto vault 101 there should be a amata distress signal listen to it all enter vault 101 kill either amata or overseer then butch is at the muddy rudder which is at the bottom level of rivet city

You have to complete "The Waters of Life" quest after finding your dad, then you head back in the general area of Vault 101 and you should pick up a distress signal from Amata. The quest will start from there, and you have to complete it to have Butch show up in the Muddy Rudder. It depends on how you finish the quest if Butch will talk to you or not.

Its also a "Random Encounter." It can happy with any person from the Vault, you can sometimes find Amata being interrogated by some Enclave soldiers but when you save her, she only says "This is all your fault." Same thing with Susie Mack and the rest of em.

i got amata to be the overseer on Trouble on the Homefront, then at the Muddy Rudder I found him, I could talk to him and I asked him to join me, but he didn't because I was a Good Karma person. Anyways, I killed him and took his weapon because its i guess a "customized" or rare weapon called Butch's Toothpick that you can acquire Im guessing whenever you kill him.
