Scientists do not say that the current climate change is the first climate change ever, they're well aware of climate change of the past, they study these as well. They know CO2 is only a small percentage of the atmosphere and all that, it's not new or unknown to them. About carbon taxes, I'm not defending them. I'm skeptical they would work, and that they're the best solution. But this is another discussion altogether. Personally I find the geoengineering solutions more feasible and likely to succeed. Not that carbon emissions do not matter, but it's unlikely that they'd be accepted worldwide. Furthermore, I think geoengineering would represent a smaller sacrifice, and could be just as effective. I've not read anything about the cons, however.
