  • Only 49ers can do this. #Go49ers

  • What Alex Smith gave me from this play was something I hadn't got a chance to witness or enjoy from when Montana was playing and that is making miracles. I'm loving every bit of it.

  • All were great plays but the pass by Young impressed me the most. 30 yard frozen rope. I still don't know how he got the ball to TO there.

  • Wow... They were all on 3rd & 3. Coincidence?? That's pretty crazy.

  • Catch I: Remember yelling and screaming as a kid

Catch II: Remember yelling and screaming as a college student

Catch III: Remember yelling and screaming as a man in his mid-30s

49ers football: It never gets old.

btw: The catch II was the only time i saw John Madden get that excited. Also, I wonder who Smith was yelling at after Davis made the catch..

  • Look at the girl at 0:26 about to throw a temper tantrum

  • WE WILL WIN THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT YEAR; 49er 4 LIFEE ^^^^^

  • the reason the 49ers have the 3 greatest catches in history is because we are the best team

  • When VD made this touchdown, the whole house shook

  • Dammm, Alex Smith is The Chosen ONE! He Needs To Win A SuperBowl So He Can Be With Montana And Young!

  • @maathew361 He just made it that hard for them to get rid of him now. lol.

  • @Electro1016 I was just about to say that until I saw your comment

  • Anyone notice they were all on 3rd & 3

  • Reason 1 2 and 3 that its fun being a niner fan

  • arguably the three most famous catches in niners history and none of them to rice

  • not a niners fan at all but i love the way their crowd sounds i would love to watch a game at candlestick some day

  • Man This Video Is Awesome!!!

  • niners vs the saints was better than this years super bowl

  • @ronaldo12401 I agree and this is coming from a Saints fan. I think that was by far the best nfl game throughout 2011-2012.

  • @lilqwizy225 i agree too. even if SF didnt punch it in with the last VD TD, it still would have been the best of the season.

  • if you notice all 3 catches were in the same end zone

  • Comment removed

  • who is that announcer that called owens' catch!? wtf they just won the game. lets hear some enthusiasm!

  • I'm glad I am a niners fan. =)

  • BEST SEASON DEN ANY TEAM IN DUH NFL INCLUDING GIANTS WEVE EVER HAD IM SO HAPPY WE MADE IT TO DUH NFC TITLE GAME NXT YEAR WE DEFINITLY GOING ALL DUH WAY ;)

  • You know you need better commentators when the color guy is more excited than the play by play guy.

  • alex smith does not deserve to be in the same video with joe and steve. i hate alex smith

  • @ashtestes hehehe get over it he is in it now and that must be a sign of things to come. XD

  • AND THE ERA CONTINUES

  • Trust me niner haterz, your negativity does not hurt US, it ONLY firez us up to embarrass you, 5 LOMBARDIS, to your shelf wood.

  • Seems every great QB clutches a game with a throw.

  • John Taylor won a Super Bowl. Why doesn't he have a "Catch" tag?

  • @mjparthum because that happened in the Super Bowl. I think for it to be a "The Catch", it has to be in the playoffs and must be at Candlestick Park

  • then Kyle Williams ruins it all

  • Yeah yeah yeah... you may have had "The Catch III" against the Saints, but then you had "The Fumble" against the Giants lol. See ya next year for the rematch against the Saints.

  • @nice16j bring it. then well rematch the giants again and next time we'll actually use all of jim harbaughs playbook.

  • too bad your sb dreams got crushed

  • As soon as I saw Vernon Davis crying I knew that the play would be called The Catch III. Too similar to The Catch II.

  • imma put this on my f/b feed

  • awesome video. very eerie that all 3 plays were 3rd & 3

  • 1:30 LOL!!!

  • is this coincidence or what??? all these plays occurred on 3rd & 3...............KRAZY!!!! GO NINERS!!!

  • The announcer said Roman Harper hit Vernon Davis, but it looks like Vernon Davis ran over Harper.

  • if you skip to 1:57 on 1:13 you'l see something crazy.

  • I think I want a "3rd & 3" tattoo. A little more original than the typical team emblem tattoo. The catch 2&3 represent two of the most exciting moments in sports that I've witnessed live. Wasn't alive for the Dwight Clark catch unfortunately. Still fun to watch and see Walsh play it off like he was too awesome to get excited, hahaha! Love that guy.

  • He cried like T. O., for 49ers sake let's hope Vernon Davis doesn't go crazy like T. O.

  • @AUpshaw85 I got extremely scared seeing him cry lol. thought of TO instantly.

  • The catch 3 loooks exactly like the catch 2. 49ers!!!!

  • I was there to see history in the making for the 49ers (catch 3). Will be there on sunday (SDQ) for the NFC championship and help the STICK get loud. Lets GO NINERS!

  • Yes, Brett. Let the butthurt flow through you!

  • go suck dallas cowgirl fans

  • @doop408 damn right

  • @aajami Yeah Starkey's call was so much better than Summerall's. Summerall sounded dead.

  • Is that Hustle & Flow on the .34 second mark!? Big Pimpin all DAY!

  • Great video. You should splice another one together using the radio announcers, as they're so much more enthusiastic than the TV commentators.

Eric Davis' "HE GOT IT!" is hilarious, and who can forget "OWENS OWENS OWENS" from the Catch II?

  • @aajami yes the radio calls are fantastic! Love how Eric Davis calls the play before its complete!

  • @aajami "HE CAUGHT IT! HE CAUGHT IT! HE CAUGHT IT!"

And the Fox call...one of Summeral/Madden's BEST:

    PAT: Owens...Owens made the catch...

JOHN: *laughing* Terrell Owens was having a rotten day, but one one play, DOES HE MAKE UP FOR IT! ...THIS IS AMAZING!

  • @aajami VERNON DAVIS WITH THE PLAY OF HIS LIFE

  • video quality gets better and better over the years.

  • even better, the three catches were made in different NFC playoff stages...first the championship, then the wild card and now the divisional

  • Brett Favre's look of butthurt makes this video

  • @jsad189 49ers losing to giants makes this video hilarious.

  • @hardcorefakes1 LOL what's hilarious is how quickly NYG fans forget that Eli could do nothing against the 49ers Defense and it took TWO Kyle Williams mistakes for NY to win that game, not to mention the early whistle on the Bradshaw fumble. Congrats on the Super Bowl win though. Niners wont forget when the SB champs come back to the Stick next season.

  • @thecovesf Im a saints fan, so....

  • I guess you could say....

    *Puts on sunglasses*

    The third time's the charm.

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • chills everytime i see this. thanks for uploading!

Honey Badger don't care about no NY Giants!

  • As a 49er fan it is fun to see how some ppl say Alex Smith deserve some "credit", however even this memorable play shows how his own teammates forget to praise him or give a slap on da ass to celebrate. None the less I am stoked for Alex this season and how he is transformed...FINALLY.

  • 666

  • Wow unbelievable.

  • fukn crazy!

  • If you look very closely at 1:52, you'll notice that it's actually 3rd and 4 (ball is at the 14 with the 1st down at the 10).

Still pretty awesome that they made that mistake lol.

  • @superduperm1 HAHA, good catch. Darn you spoiled the 3rd & 3 connection for me. LOL

  • @zmorton Looking back at the full drive again, it's debatable. Before Alex Smith stops the clock it looks like 2nd and 3 1/2 or something like that and after it looks like 3rd and *almost* 4. I'm guessing they rounded it down to 2nd and 3 at first and decided to keep it at 3rd and 3 after the ball was spiked (since no real footage is lost on a spike).

Meh, too much speculation over something like that, lol. The screen says 3rd and 3, as it did for the first two catches. That's what matters ;)

  • @zmorton It actually was 3rd and 3 on catch III, the refs backed the ball up a yard after Alex Smith spiked the ball to stop the clock. SO IT WAS 3RD AND 3 AFTER ALL!!!

  • @superduperm1 It's cool, but actually, Frank Gore got that ball to the 13 yard line, but they spotted it at the 14. So really, it was 3rd and 3.

  • All on 3rd & 3....

  • @94CIRCA In the description, but yeah crazy huh?

  • WOW, amazing to say the least

  • F***ing sh8t!!!!!! MONTANA!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now that is crazy eeeeeeeerie! Thanks for making and posting this video!

  • Now that is crazy eeeeeeeerie!
